Chapter Index

    Second courtyard

The smell of dampness filled the air around Shen Luo, and he fell asleep for a long time. When he woke up, he was in an empty room, with only a bed and a cabinet intact. It looked like an old house that had been abandoned for a long time, and the paint on the walls that had been painted for more than ten years was crumbling.

All his strength was used to open his eyes, and he couldn’t even stand up. He could only try his best to observe everything around him to find clues.

Soon a man in a white coat came through the door. The man was wearing a mask. Shen Luo could only see his eyes clearly. His eyes were very cold, so cold that it was like looking at a dead person. He was really scared, but he did not dare to speak.

“Since you’re awake, you’ll be fine. Just wait a while and then go for a checkup and come up with a treatment plan.”

His words didn’t seem to be addressed to Shen Luo. A nurse suddenly came in at the door, listened to his words and replied: “Understood.”

Then the two left one after another. Shen Luo calmed down for a long time and finally recovered some of his strength. He walked to a half-sealed window and looked outside through the gap.

It was the time when the sun was shining on the earth, but there was no light in this room, as if someone had deliberately built it away from the sun.

Whether they were careless or overly confident about the medicine, the door was ajar and the entire corridor was quiet. Shen Luo stuck his head out and tiptoed to the door, making the entire journey unimpeded.

Unluckily, he bumped into a doctor head-on. Both of them were stunned for a second. The doctor dropped what he was holding, grabbed him and shouted: “Come on, he’s running away.”

The cry attracted a wave of people. Seeing this, Shen Luo kicked him in the leg. The man knelt down in a daze, but he was surrounded before he could run far.

Several people held him down, and a female nurse was a little unsure and asked, “What should I do? We can’t just keep holding him down like this.”

The doctor covered his leg and said angrily: “Give him another injection.”

    “But…”

The nurse stood there and did not dare to move. The doctor urged: “Go quickly.”

Shen Luo was pushed to the ground by them, and the rough stones rubbed his cheeks with blood. There was no fear of this group of people in his eyes, only the desire to escape.

    “Who the hell are you?”

Shen Luo shouted angrily, and the doctor asked someone to lift him up and said seriously: “We are doctors. Your family sent you here for treatment, so we have to do our duty. Don’t try to escape. This place is strictly guarded. No one has succeeded.”

“You crazy people, let me go. I’m not sick. I’m not sick. I don’t want to stay here.”

Shen Luo struggled desperately, and several people let go of their hands due to inertia, but as long as one person held on, the broken ropes would turn into stronger ropes to tie him up, and he would not be able to struggle even a step.

The doctor holds the medical record and writes something on it.

“The patient behaves excessively, talks crazy, and refuses to cooperate. Give him an injection first to calm him down.”

When Shen Luo saw the hair-thin needle approaching towards him, he started to tremble all over and backed away crazily.

“Go away, you crazy people, I’m not sick, I’m not sick!!!”

Shen Luo’s heart-rending shouts would be stuck in the throat of anyone who heard them. The needle tip sank into his skin inch by inch. He could clearly feel the cold liquid moving in the blood vessels of his body. When the needle tip was pulled out, there seemed to be a trace of blood.

The doctor walked up to him and said, “All the patients who come here say they are not sick. Don’t worry, we will let you walk out of the hospital obediently.”

An unprecedented fear enveloped his heart. The medicine took effect quickly. Same as the last time, Shen Luo fell into a deep sleep again. Tears from the corners of his eyes fell uncontrollably and seeped into the dry concrete floor. Two doctors put him in and fixed his limbs with belts before he woke up.

Tang Mo spent most of his time away from work looking for someone. If there was no progress, he would be the one who went crazy before An Yu. However, Shen Luo seemed to have disappeared from the world, leaving no trace behind.

At the same time, Liang Qian was also looking for her. When An Yu received his call, she was overjoyed and answered the call immediately, and then their voices rang at the same time.

    “Is Shen Luo with you?”

Liang Qian reacted before him and said in surprise: “He’s not with you?”

An Yu said a few words casually, but Liang Qian interrupted him and said, “Forget it, I can’t explain it clearly on the phone. I’ll come to the hospital to find you right away.”

Liang Qian walked in from the door in a dusty manner, with the hair on his head standing up. When he saw An Yu’s look, he was startled at first, and then he couldn’t help but want to laugh.

“Why did you get yourself into such a mess?”

After laughing at each other, Liang Qian told him what happened in the past few days. The two of them were stunned for the whole night and didn’t know where Shen Luo could go.

    Liang Qian returned angrily.

The news about An Yu reached Jiuyuan Village at some point. An Yan ended the free clinic two days in advance. When she left, Pang Yuan held a box of unopened candies that An Yan had brought her. She looked disappointed. Most of the villagers came to see him off at the entrance of the village. Of course, many of them happened to be working in the fields at the entrance of the village.

An Yan went to the hospital as soon as he came back, and An Yu was lying on the bed leisurely.

“You have to go against yourself, don’t you?”

He had a sulky expression and threw the medical records in his hands on the bed as soon as he came in.

“Brother, you didn’t even ask me why you were so angry with me.”

An Yan became even more angry when he saw his confident look, and raised his voice and said, “If I don’t know, you must have something to do with Shen Luo.”

After learning the cause and effect, An Yan still did not let go and said to him: “You can’t go anywhere until your hand is healed. I am a doctor and you are the patient. I am only responsible for healing your hand. I can’t take care of the rest now.”

Following An Yan’s death order, people here were staring at him like a criminal suspect. Only others could enter this room and he could not leave.

Tang Moci had never come since he promised him last time, but Liang Qian came a few times from time to time.

Gradually, Liang Qian came less and less, and An Yuzhen became a loner. Only later did he learn that he had been taken back to class by Fei Zhu.

It was noon when Liang Qian finally escaped from school. The delicious food in Ancheng made him think about it day and night, so he went to a century-old restaurant.

There was a table of delicacies for him to choose from, and Liang Qian went straight to eat them all. After he was full, he stood up and moved around. He happened to bump into the waiter in front of him, and all the drinks were spilled on Liang Qian. Seeing that he had caused trouble, the waiter apologized profusely.

    “I’m sorry, I’m sorry…”

Liang Qian didn’t pay much attention. He just frowned and took off his school uniform, and the white shirt underneath was also splashed. The good mood he had just piled up with delicious food suddenly disappeared. The other party was like a robot, only repeating the three words “I’m sorry”.

“Where is the bathroom?” Liang Qian asked coldly.

The other party led him over, and when he came out, Liang Qian saw that he was still waiting outside, so he said to him, “It’s okay, you can go.”

The other party hesitated and said: “I…I have a change of clothes there. Would you like to change your dirty clothes and I’ll wash them for you.”

Liang Qian naturally knew that he had to make up for this mistake, so he did not refuse. When he took the clothes, his work badge fell out. After Liang Qian saw the words on it, he looked at him doubtfully and asked, “Are you praying?”

The other party didn’t expect that he would call out his name. He paused his hand and nodded: “I am.”

Liang Qian laughed out loud and said, “You don’t remember me. I accidentally passed your work ID card before. I wanted to apologize to you in person the next day, but you asked for leave, so I asked your colleagues to help return it to you.”

Qi Wang had some impressions of this incident. Liang Qian thought it was him who had caused him to lose his job, and there was sweat on his face.

Liang Qian looked him over while changing his clothes. Although he was drunk at the time, he still had a deep impression on him.

At that time, he was the same age as Liang Qian, and Liang Qian felt that he was an unpolished gentle man who would always make great achievements in his own field. But looking at him now, he was mixed with an unpredictable calmness. If you hadn’t seen his name, you wouldn’t have been connected to the person in front of you.

    “Why are you here?”

Qi Wang explained: “I couldn’t continue working there, so I had to look for another place. I ended up here after a few trips.”

Now Liang Qian was even more convinced that he was the one who caused him to lose his last job. He smiled bitterly and said, “Then you really worked hard.”

Qi Wang’s eyes kept lingering on his school uniform, and finally he reluctantly moved away. After much hesitation, he finally asked.

“Are you a senior in high school? It must be very hard.”

Liang Qian immediately remembered Fei Zhu’s bitter experience of taking him back to school. When he entered the school, he looked like a zombie.

“Yes, the hardship of high school is just like wholesale food. It’s hard and mass-produced.”
