The sky was so gloomy that Zhang Jiacheng ran to the bus and handed an umbrella through the window.

“Hold the umbrella, it’s going to rain if it’s so gloomy.”

He seemed to have stayed up for several long nights, and his eyes were bruised. When he looked at her and smiled, he looked swollen. Jiang Wangshu prepared a lot of cheering words, but when he saw him, he became mute. Seeing the bus going farther and farther, Jiang Wangshu ignored the danger, stuck out his head and said firmly to Zhang Jiasheng who had turned around: “Zhang Jiasheng, take the exam well!”

As the distance between the two of them grew further apart on the bus, he heard these three words clearly. Before he had time to be moved, he noticed the half of her upper body that was sticking out.

He shouted in between movements: “Danger, go back quickly.”

Jiang Wangshu had been pulled back by the female classmate sitting next to her. The driver cursed and said many unpleasant words. She knew that it was dangerous to do so at that time.Nervousness, shame, and embarrassment all rushed to her cheeks in an instant, and no one could see the regret, because she didn’t.

Halfway through the car, there were a few water marks on the windows. When everyone realized it, the rain was getting heavier and the car had to drive much slower. With the pouring rain, Jiang Wangshu’s heart could not calm down. The book open on his lap only had a few pages blown by the wind, and every drop of rain crackled in his heart.

The huge room only had a dozen or so scattered tables, with enough space in the middle for two teachers to walk side by side. Jiang Wangshu tried his best to calm down his mood and make himself forget all the irrelevant things for a short time.

The rain was like a child. The more people he saw holding umbrellas walking in the rain, the harder it rained. The moment he stopped writing, the sound of rain exploded in Jiang Wangshu’s ears. Zhang Jiasheng’s eyes immediately appeared like he was soaked in the rain. He spent the remaining twenty minutes staring out the window in a daze.

The rain continued on and off for a week, and until the day when the results came out, it was still gloomy and it seemed like there would be a downpour at any time.

Zhang Jiasheng walked out of the dormitory building, and strings of raindrops fell on his head under the eaves. The warm raindrops made him shiver. Although he was smart, there were many who worked harder than him, not to mention that some people had been preparing for several years or even more than ten years. Jiang Wangshu blocked his way and held an umbrella to protect him from the rain.

    “Am I very incompetent?”

Zhang Jiasheng rarely showed such a disappointed look. Jiang Wangshu knew that he was referring to today’s report card, so he advised: “It has nothing to do with your ability. You are framed by it. Just treat it as a piece of white paper. If you don’t like it, fold it into a paper airplane and let it fly farther.”

“It’s raining so hard today, how far can a paper plane fly?”

Jiang Wangshu interrupted him and whispered softly: “How big your heart is, how far it can fly.”

As he spoke, Jiang Wangshu took out a budding rose from his pocket, placed it in front of his eyes, blinked his big eyes and said, “You said you are not a qualified suitor, and I don’t think I am either. So, how can we balance negatives with negatives?”

Zhang Jiasheng’s heart was as loud as gongs and drums, and he took the flower tremblingly and said, “Okay.”

The rainy wind blew harder and harder, and Jiang Wangshu didn’t have much strength to hold the umbrella handle with one hand. Zhang Jiasheng quickly took it and gently pulled her into his arms. He stretched out his hand to adjust the backpack strap on her shoulder. It was very light, as if there was only a piece of paper in it, but it was also very heavy. She had lifted it countless times along the way.

“Have you decided where to go?”

“Not yet, but I don’t want to be too far away from you.”

When he said this, Zhang Jiasheng lowered his head shyly, kicked a stone in the puddle, and bounced it far away, causing a few sprays of water.

“Even if you are far away, with the transportation now so developed, it won’t take long.” Jiang Wangshu said softly.

The sound of rain hitting the umbrella was dense, but the footsteps of the two were leisurely.

“But I don’t want to spend all my time on the road seeing you,” Zhang Jiasheng said aggrievedly, “So, I want to go back and repeat my studies.”

Jiang Wangshu stopped and did not agree. In her opinion, this decision was too hasty. It didn’t look like careful consideration, but more like a whim.

When he spoke, there was still drizzle on his eyelashes that was blown by the wind. Jiang Wangshu said in a serious tone: “But you don’t even know which university you want to go to. Such an aimless start is half the failure.”

Zhang Jiacheng was frightened by her seriousness and hesitated: “I…I have thought about it, I want to go to Minghang.”

Jiang Wangshu realized that he was a little over-emotional, so he immediately calmed down and said, “Then let me ask you, if Mingshi University didn’t have me, would you still choose to repeat your studies and go to Minghang University?”

    “…”

He hesitated, and then remained silent for a moment. After only a few seconds of silence, Jiang Wangshu breathed a sigh of relief.

She said: “You want to repeat your studies, but you feel that this matter does not meet your expectations, so you try your best to get closer to your ideal. These are just your temporary emotions and cannot be counted.”

Zhang Jiacheng looked at her calm eyes, and his originally high emotions gradually calmed down. His firm belief just now was shaken, and a large piece of his shoulder was wet, and he said, “I understand.”

Jiang Wangshu glanced at the incandescent lamp in the middle of the alley, raised his finger, and said gently: “Zhang Jiasheng, no matter where you go or whatever decision you make, I will support you.”

After saying that, Jiang Wangshu dived into the alley and held his schoolbag tightly in his arms. Zhang Jiasheng returned home with a look of loss, and even what Tang Yu said to him was not interesting.

Zhang Jiasheng was lying on the bed, thinking: “I really don’t have the willpower to walk the road I have already walked over again.”

The lamp in front of her desk was a bit dazzling, so she pulled out the admission notice from Ming Normal University, which was also written by the president of Ming Normal University.Holding a thin notice with only a few words on it, she read it over and over again as if she would never get tired of it.

At this point, being in a different place has become an adjective for the two of them. Good mornings and evenings every day and heartfelt conversations across the screen are God’s efforts to consolidate their future.
