Chapter 97: Be Good and Wait for Me at Home

Xu Chongming slunk out of his house.

Jiang Hui had lectured Xu Chongming again, blaming him for not getting along with Chi Ye like this, saying it was harmful and offered no benefits.

Xu Chongming was simply fed up. No matter how hard he tried, Jiang Hui seemed to only see his shortcomings.

In Jiang Hui’s mind, he was just so useless.

Jiang Hui wanted Xu Chongming to take advantage of the New Year to go to Beizhou to pay respects to Grandpa Chi and, by the way, ease his relationship with Chi Ye.

Xu Chongming became even more dissatisfied with Jiang Hui and wanted to resist, but this couldn’t be done overnight. A person’s ability depends on how much they can accomplish.

These past few months since Xu Chongming returned to China, he had been facing setbacks everywhere.

He couldn’t get any advantages from Su Shi, Chi Ye, or Jiang Hui.

Xu Chongming was simply extremely troubled and could only find his friend Shen Lin for a drink.

Shen Lin’s family had a wine cellar with many good wines.

After a few glasses of wine, Shen Lin said bluntly, “Actually, your current predicament is all of your own making.”

Xu Chongming slammed his glass down, creating a loud sound on the coffee table. “Why are even you saying this to me?”

“I’m just stating the facts.” Shen Lin had a close relationship with Xu Chongming and wanted to wake him up sooner rather than later. “As long as you give up Su Shi and cozy up to Chi Ye, wouldn’t everything be easily solved? Your mom wouldn’t look at you unfavorably anymore either.”

Xu Chongming seemed to be stuck in a dead end. “Su Shi was originally mine. That kid used underhanded means to steal him away. How can I tolerate this?”

The reasons behind it were clear to everyone, but Xu Chongming still chose to deceive himself. Shen Lin said helplessly, “A man should focus on his career, be able to take things up and put them down.”

Xu Chongming couldn’t listen to reason. Although he knew in his heart that Su Shi would never turn back, his pride wouldn’t allow him to lower himself to please Chi Ye.

Xu Chongming impatiently poured half a glass of wine into his mouth and then slumped onto the sofa, muttering nonsense, “I want Su Shi, I want Su Shi back.”

Shen Lin shook his head and clicked his tongue. “Late affection is cheaper than grass.”

Xu Chongming frowned tightly. “Su Shi come back.”

Shen Lin saw that he was going crazy and didn’t continue the topic, changing it to, “Oh right, Du Li’s grandmother passed away.”

Because Shen Lin and Du Li’s hometown were the same place, the news reached Shen Lin.

Xu Chongming slapped the sofa and roared, “Don’t mention that name to me again.”

The most regrettable thing Xu Chongming had ever done in his life was getting involved with Du Li.

Shen Lin raised an eyebrow. “Alright, consider me nosy. I just wanted to say that he’s about to be released, and I’m afraid he’ll cause trouble for you.”

When in a bad mood, alcohol makes you drunk faster. Xu Chongming didn’t hear clearly what Shen Lin was saying and fell asleep.

Despite cherishing their time together, it was soon time for Chi Ye to go home for the holidays.

Chi Xiangqin didn’t allow Chi Ye to stay in West Hangzhou for even a day longer and sent the housekeeper to pick him up.

If the apartment had fixed cameras, then the housekeeper was a mobile camera, following Chi Ye everywhere and questioning his every move.

Chi Ye tried everything to get rid of the housekeeper before coming to see Su Shi.

After a moment of intimacy, Chi Ye said, “Be good and wait for me at home.”

“Okay.” Su Shi nodded obediently, but in his heart, he had already planned to secretly go see Chi Ye when the time came.

“Oh right, you’ve fallen out with your dad, so are you still going back for the New Year?”

    “I’m not going back.”

“Then how will you spend New Year’s Eve?”

Song Qingyan and Qiao Yu planned to go to a tropical island for vacation during the New Year and asked Su Shi if he wanted to go with them, but Su Shi didn’t want to be a third wheel, so he refused.

He hadn’t thought about how he would spend this New Year either, but as an adult, with hands, feet, and money, how could he not even be able to spend a New Year well?

“Don’t worry so much, I’ll arrange it myself.”

How could Chi Ye not worry about Su Shi? “Let me find a restaurant for you and book a New Year’s Eve dinner in advance.”

“No, no, no,” Su Shi quickly pressed down on Chi Ye’s hand that was about to make a call, helplessly saying, “Chi Old Mother, I’m an adult, okay?”

Chi Ye touched the dimple that Su Shi revealed when he smiled. “You’re my wife.”

This title was like a switch, and Su Shi immediately bristled. “I told you not to call me that.”

After this commotion, Chi Ye had to leave soon. Su Shi was reluctant, as it was the first time they had to separate for so long.

Sigh, it’s sad just thinking about it.

Chi Ye didn’t allow Su Shi to see him downstairs, telling him to stay home and left alone.

Su Shi was standing in the entryway feeling sentimental when suddenly, he heard the sound of the door opening behind him. He turned around abruptly and was embraced by Chi Ye, who pressed a heavy kiss on him.

The burning breath made Su Shi’s head spin. He wished time could stop at this moment.

After separating, the two looked at each other, and Chi Ye said, “I really have to go.”

Su Shi smiled. “I didn’t stop you.”

Chi Ye slowly backed away, releasing Su Shi’s hand.

This time, Chi Ye really left.

Su Shi composed his disappointed mood and cheered himself up to finish the last bit of finishing work.

The studio’s performance this year was good, and it had made a name for itself, which could add a heavy stroke to Su Shi’s career.

There were still a few days before the holiday, and Su Shi told everyone to work hard. They would have a dinner party and distribute red envelopes in a few days, and the employees were highly enthusiastic.

After Xiao Jie received the generous year-end bonus that Su Shi had promised, his eyes turned into stars. “Thank you, Teacher Su. Next year, I will still follow your lead.”

“Happy New Year, and have a smooth journey back home.”

After everyone in the studio had left, Su Shi packed his things and checked all the workstations again to make sure there were no safety hazards before preparing to lock the door and go home.

Just as he locked the door and turned around, he saw someone.

    It was Chen Cheng.

Chen Cheng didn’t rush up to Su Shi and call him “Brother, Brother” as he used to. Instead, he stayed a meter away from Su Shi, hesitating to step forward.

Growing up seemed to happen in an instant.

Chen Cheng carefully called out, “Brother.”

Su Shi nodded. “Why are you here?”

Chen Cheng looked at Su Shi somewhat helplessly. “You’re on holiday. Are you going home for the New Year?”

“Your dad probably doesn’t want to see me, right?”

“No, I probed Dad’s feelings, and he still wants you to come home for the New Year.”

Su Shi didn’t really care. All the relatives with the surname Chen would come for the New Year, and it would be noisy and annoying.

    “We’ll see.”

Chen Cheng lowered his head in disappointment.

“How did you do on your exams?” Su Shi asked.

Hearing this, Chen Cheng raised his head. “Still near the bottom.” After saying that, he lowered his head even further.

Su Shi walked up to him. “Let’s go, I’ll take you back.”

Chen Cheng’s eyes lit up. “Okay, Brother.”
