GLIHBN Chapter 57
by VolareChapter 57: You Ingrate!
Finally quiet, Su Shi slumped against the door, his body slowly sliding down until he sat on the floor, painfully closing his eyes, his hand clenched into a fist, knocking his head repeatedly.
Whether it was Xu Chongming’s entanglement or Chi Ye’s relentless advances, Su Shi was exhausted.
Continuing to entangle would only hurt more people, including himself. Su Shi hoped that Xu Chongming would not come again, hoping to bring this failed relationship to an end.
Even if the ending wasn’t beautiful, it still existed, and Su Shi would never deny that.
Su Shi didn’t make a sound, burying his head in his legs, trying to reduce his presence and let the world temporarily forget him, so he could steal a moment of peace.
Inside the house, only the ticking of the clock could be heard. The figure sitting by the door remained still for a long time, even his breathing was light and careful.
Downstairs, Xu Chongming unexpectedly saw Chi Ye, who seemed to be waiting for someone, constantly looking in a certain direction.
Xu Chongming wiped his face, trying to make himself look less disheveled, and went over to greet Chi Ye, “Chi Ye, what are you doing here?”
Chi Ye quietly looked at him, “I’m looking for Su Shi-ge.”
A strange emotion suddenly arose in Xu Chongming’s heart. He wanted to ask Chi Ye why he was looking for Su Shi, but when his gaze fell on Chi Ye’s bitten lip, Xu Chongming suppressed that strange emotion.
“I just made Su Shi unhappy, don’t go up and bother him, let him have some peace.”
Chi Ye frowned slightly, his eyes calm as he looked at Xu Chongming, “Ge, I know, Su Shi broke up with you.”
Exposed on the spot, Xu Chongming felt a bit embarrassed, and tried to justify himself, “It’s common for couples to break up, he’s just angry with me, I can coax him again.”
Chi Ye, however, revealed a pitying expression, “Su Shi-ge usually looks easygoing, but if you touch his bottom line, he will be harder to talk to than anyone else.”
Xu Chongming had to re-evaluate his cousin, “You seem to know Su Shi very well?”
Chi Ye smiled faintly, “Not bad, after all, we’ve lived together for so long.”
These words sounded ambiguous, but Xu Chongming didn’t think that way at all. He remembered Chi Ye mentioning before that he had a crush on some girl.
“So you’re here specifically to comfort him? You’re my brother, who are you helping? You should say good things for me in front of him.”
Chi Ye looked directly at Xu Chongming, his eyes cold, “Ge, with you doing this kind of thing, how can I say good things for you? I’m on the side of reason, not family.”
Xu Chongming’s expression changed, and he cursed, “You ingrate!”
Chi Ye readily accepted, “Yeah, just think of me that way.”
Xu Chongming’s relationship with Chi Ye wasn’t that close. Besides the days when he was pursuing Su Shi and had no one to confide in, Jiang Hui always told Xu Chongming to be proactive in getting close to Chi Ye.
But the two had always maintained a superficial brotherly relationship, and had never openly fallen out.
Xu Chongming had just been frustrated with Su Shi, and then received a cold rebuke from Chi Ye, and immediately felt his dignity insulted.
He wanted to argue with Chi Ye clearly, but then he heard that “life-threatening” cell phone ringtone, and his expression changed subtly.
Chi Ye gently reminded, “Aunt is calling you, you should go home.”
Xu Chongming turned off his phone, pointed at Chi Ye, “Don’t be smug, Su Shi doesn’t give me the time of day, and he won’t give you the time of day either, you understand collateral damage?”
Chi Ye’s expression darkened, and Xu Chongming knew he had hit the mark, and a victorious smile appeared on his face.
“Yeah, you’re right, then I won’t go.”
“That’s right, let’s go.”
Chi Ye and Xu Chongming walked out of Su Shi’s residential complex together. Chi Ye didn’t intend to take Xu Chongming’s car, “Ge, don’t keep pestering Su Shi, or he will hate you even more.”
Clearly younger than him, but acting like an elder brother, Xu Chongming exploded on the spot, “You little bastard, my affairs are none of your business!”
Chi Ye shrugged indifferently, “Then do whatever you want.” Anyway, he had plenty of ways to make sure Xu Chongming didn’t have time to pester Su Shi.
Chi Ye turned around, and the previous slightly smiling expression instantly disappeared, replaced by a gloomy and unfathomable one.
Behind him came the roar of Xu Chongming’s sports car, speeding away.
In an open-air cafe, Su Shi sat in a chair slowly stirring the coffee in his cup.
Du Li had asked him out today, and Su Shi didn’t want to go. He was sure that nothing good would come of the meeting, just the usual nonsense about him and Xu Chongming. Su Shi wasn’t interested and didn’t want to listen.
The reason Su Shi finally decided to come was that he was afraid that if the other party didn’t achieve their goal, they would keep bothering him. Su Shi was a person who hated trouble, and it was best to explain things once and for all.
Besides, he wasn’t the one in the wrong. If he didn’t come, people would think he was afraid.
Someone sat down opposite him, and Su Shi looked up, “You asked me to meet and you’re late.”
Du Li said insincerely, “Sorry, I woke up late.”
Su Shi took a sip of the coffee, it was very bitter. It seemed that the cafe Du Li had chosen wasn’t very good.
“Speak, what do you want to talk about? But before you say anything, I want to declare two things: one, Xu Chongming and I have completely broken up, and two, I wish you well.”
Hearing this, Du Li revealed a mocking smile, “You think I asked you here to fight over Xu Chongming?”
Su Shi raised an eyebrow, “Otherwise? We don’t know each other, I don’t think we have any other relationship.”
“You don’t know me, but I know you.”
No one wanted to listen to the story of a third party who interfered in their relationship. Su Shi wasn’t interested at all, and wouldn’t ask “How do you know me?”.
But Du Li took the initiative to reveal, “I’ve liked Xu Chongming for no less time than you have. I started following him in college, but he only had you in his eyes and rejected me.”
Su Shi sarcastically said, “But in America, you still managed to get him.”
Du Li was smiling, but his expression was very sad, “Yeah, I used a little trick at the time. You should fight for what’s yours.”
“So you’re here today to show off to me?”
Du Li shook his head, “No, every time I thought he and I were truly intimate, he would always wake me up and not allow me to have unrealistic fantasies, telling me that this was only temporary, and that the one he loved had always been Su Shi.”
Su Shi was about to throw up, it was too disgusting. Saying he loved him in someone else’s bed was simply the most nauseating declaration of love Su Shi had ever heard in his life.
“You make me sick!” Su Shi couldn’t help but curse.
Du Li seemed to be immersed in his own world, narrating slowly, “I tried so hard to get close, I took a knife for him, I almost got beaten to death for protecting him, I can even give up everything, but he never cares. Even if I gave my life for him, it wouldn’t be as good as you saying ‘Chongming, I miss you’ to him.”
Su Shi couldn’t use the word “disgusting” to describe his feelings anymore. He only felt that Du Li either had a masochistic tendency or had something wrong with his brain, and couldn’t help but advise, “Love yourself first. Since he doesn’t love you, why do you have to degrade yourself?”
Du Li suddenly said sharply, “People like you who were born with everything, pampered young masters, won’t understand how difficult it is to cross social classes.”
Unable to reason, Su Shi felt there was no need to say anything more. “Mr. Du, your story is touching, but you still have to have a moral bottom line as a person. I can’t empathize with you, I’m leaving.”
