GLIHBN Chapter 11
by VolareChi Ye signed for the express delivery, picked up the flowers, closed the door, and walked inside holding them.
“Someone sent you roses.”
“Who? Someone’s actually sending me flowers?” Su Shi was equally puzzled.
Chi Ye handed the flowers to Su Shi. “There’s a card inside. Take a look and you’ll know.”
So Su Shi took the card, opened it, and saw a sentence written by the florist on it:
“Get well soon, baby.”
The signature was: Ming.
Now the truth was out. These were flowers that Xu Chongming had specially sent to Su Shi.
Su Shi glanced at the vibrant roses, then at the antipyretic medicine and millet porridge on the table.
“Help me find a vase to put the flowers in.”
Chi Ye said hoarsely, “Okay.”
So, he prefers red roses, does he?
Su Shi insisted on going to the exhibition to check and make sure everything was foolproof. He lifted the air-conditioned quilt and was about to get out of bed, but his weak body swayed. Fortunately, Chi Ye supported him in time. “Be careful.”
He had just taken his temperature with a thermometer. It was 38 degrees. Walking made him feel top-heavy. Su Shi shook his head. “It’s okay. I’ll go upstairs to wash up.”
Watching Su Shi’s back as he went upstairs, Chi Ye reminded him, “Don’t take a bath. It’ll make your condition worse.”
Su Shi stopped and looked at him. “Is there such a thing?”
“Yes, showering easily leads to catching a cold, which will worsen the condition.”
Chi Ye had experienced it, so he knew.
When he was 15 years old, because his exam scores had dropped by two places, Chi Ye was locked in his room by Chi Xiangqin and ordered not to go out and play, but to concentrate on reading in the room.
Chi Ye felt very uncomfortable that day. He had a fever.
After Chi Xiangqin found out, he ordered the servants to bring antipyretic medicine.
Chi Ye’s temperature had initially gone down after taking the medicine, but after taking a shower, it went up again, and it was even higher than before.
The servant asked Chi Xiangqin if he wanted to send him to the hospital. Chi Ye vaguely heard Chi Xiangqin say in a very disdainful tone, “Hmph, if he can be burned to death, then he doesn’t deserve to be the heir of my Chi family.”
Su Shi didn’t think so. “But it’s a hot day now, and I’m sweating all over. I’m very uncomfortable.”
“Anyway, don’t take a shower.”
What a worrywart, Su Shi thought.
Su Shi also wanted to listen to Chi Ye, but he felt too sticky. If he didn’t wash clean, even if he changed into clean clothes, he wouldn’t feel comfortable. He really couldn’t stand it, so he still went to the bathroom to take a shower.
He washed his hair, blow-dried it, and changed his clothes. He felt much more refreshed.
Su Shi felt that Chi Ye just believed in what the older generation said too much.
Su Shi went downstairs “thump, thump, thump” and knocked on Chi Ye’s door.
Chi Ye opened the door, smelled the refreshing scent on Su Shi, and frowned. “You took a shower? And washed your hair?”
Su Shi smiled awkwardly. “I really couldn’t stand it. It’s okay. I feel more energetic now.”
Chi Ye shook his head and sighed helplessly like a little adult.
Su Shi was really afraid that he would say, “I really can’t do anything with you,” in the next sentence. That would make it feel like their ages were really reversed. “I wanted to tell you that I’m going out.”
“Okay.”
Su Shi quietly arrived at the exhibition and found Little Jie. “How is it?”
Little Jie’s eyes curved into crescents with a smile. “The response is very good. There are so many people that we’ve already limited the number of people allowed in.”
It was about what he had expected. That Mr. Qi was annoying and difficult, but he had to admit that the works were very artistically appealing. “That’s good.”
Little Jie saw that Su Shi’s complexion wasn’t good and asked with concern, “Su, are you not feeling well? Your face looks a little pale.”
“It’s okay. I just have a bit of a fever.”
Little Jie started shooing him away. “Then go back quickly. I’m watching. There won’t be any problems.”
“It’s okay. I’ve been busy for so long. I want to see the results myself.”
“Hehe,” Little Jie said with pride, feeling very honored, “Mr. Qi just asked me where you were.”
Su Shi instantly became vigilant. “He doesn’t want to find fault with me again, does he?”
Little Jie quickly waved his hand. “No, no. I can tell he’s very satisfied, but he’s just too shy to say it.”
Su Shi was too lazy to pretend. “I really don’t want to deal with him.”
“Su, you should go back quickly.”
Little Jie had been following Su Shi since he graduated from university. Su Shi was like half a teacher to him, leading him into the industry and teaching him many things.
Apart from the superior-subordinate relationship and the boss-employee identity, Little Jie also regarded Su Shi as an older brother and genuinely cared about his health.
Su Shi knew that if he didn’t leave, he would be nagged endlessly. “Alright, alright, I’m leaving. Keep a close eye on things.”
Little Jie nodded repeatedly. “Okay, don’t worry.”
Su Shi had just said goodbye to Little Jie and was about to leave the exhibition when he suddenly felt a dull pain in his stomach. The momentum was too fierce. Su Shi clutched his stomach and almost couldn’t stand. He squatted down, leaning against the stair railing.
Little Jie, who hadn’t gone back inside yet, happened to glance in this direction and saw Su Shi curled up in a ball.
“Su!” Little Jie ran over quickly and realized that Su Shi’s eyes were closed tightly, and cold sweat was dripping from his forehead. He looked very painful. “What’s wrong?”
Su Shi struggled to utter a few words, “My stomach hurts so much.”
Little Jie panicked. “I’ll call 120.”
After that wave passed, Su Shi regained some strength. Waiting for 120 to arrive would take too long. It would be better to go to the hospital himself. He opened his eyes and said to Little Jie, “No need. I can still manage. I can go to the hospital myself.”
Looking at Su Shi’s appearance, he didn’t seem like he could do it. Little Jie said with concern, “Then I’ll take you.”
“No need. You have to stay here and watch in case something happens.”
Little Jie didn’t care about the superior-subordinate status at this time. He forcefully helped Su Shi up and left. “I’ll take you. If there’s nothing wrong, I’ll come back later.”
Su Shi couldn’t do anything with him and could only let him go.
His body, already with a low fever, was as dilapidated as a marionette, relying on Little Jie’s support to stand upright.
Su Shi insisted on getting into the car, and his stomach started hurting again. This time, he clearly felt that it wasn’t a small problem and regretted not letting Little Jie call 120 earlier.
He had seen online before that pressing the hoku point could relieve pain. Su Shi tried it back and forth, using the thumb of one hand to press hard on the hoku point of the other hand.
However, it proved to be of no use at all.
The subtle and dense pain kept coming from a certain organ, making him want to curl his body into a ball to ignore that he was just a mortal.
Little Jie drove the car very fast, driving the Beijing Hyundai with the momentum of a Land Rover, domineering and tyrannical, overtaking several cars in a row.
The driver’s curses came from behind but were blocked by the car window. Little Jie looked very focused. “Su, hold on.”
Su Shi huddled in the seat, bound by the seat belt so he wouldn’t be thrown out. Sweat flowed into his eyes, causing some stinging pain. He barely managed to say, “Don’t panic. Safety first.”
Little Jie was indeed panicking. Now, hearing Su Shi’s weak but calm voice, the hand holding the steering wheel stopped trembling.
He was too impetuous. He should be more steady.
They arrived at the hospital quickly. Little Jie took Su Shi to the emergency room.
Su Shi was already in a semi-comatose state at this time. While being pushed by the nurse, he still didn’t forget to stop Little Jie and explain, “You go back first.”
How could Little Jie dare to leave? “Don’t worry about it.”
“No,” it was because he didn’t keep a close eye on things that day, and an accident happened after leaving for a while. Now was the final moment of this deal. Su Shi was a perfectionist and couldn’t let such a thing happen again, even if it was just in case.
“Help me call Chi Ye and ask him to come and stay with me. You go first.”
Little Jie didn’t dare to disobey Su Shi anymore. “Okay.”
