    Chapter 6 Pink Roses

When he returned, Chi Ye bought a bouquet of pink roses from the flower shop, found a glass vase when he got home, and placed them on the coffee table in the living room.

The petals were a delicate pinkish-white, so tender they seemed like they would drip water if pinched.

Su Shi’s home was perfect in every way, except it lacked a bit of vitality. With the addition of the pink roses, it was now perfect.

Chi Ye put down the watering can in his hand, staring at the flowers in a daze.

Actually, Chi Ye had seen Su Shi several years ago.

At that time, Chi Ye came to West Hangzhou City to visit his aunt, who was Xu Chongming’s mother. His aunt asked Xu Chongming to take him out to play.

Xu Chongming was going to find Su Shi, so he brought him along.

At the time, Su Shi was a junior in college and was rehearsing a stage play with others, preparing for a performance soon.

“The most handsome one in the middle is my friend.”

Chi Ye followed Xu Chongming’s pointing and saw Su Shi, tall and thin.

Seeing the light in Xu Chongming’s eyes, Chi Ye couldn’t help but take a few more glances at Su Shi on the stage.

Su Shi was dressed as a woman, wearing a thick, long wig, his face incredibly well-behaved, and the dress didn’t seem out of place on him.

After Su Shi finished rehearsing and changed back into his own clothes, he was pinned against the wall in the hallway by Xu Chongming for a kiss. Perhaps it was because he couldn’t breathe properly, or perhaps it was because the weather was too hot, but Su Shi’s face was flushed.

Chi Ye came out of the restroom and saw this scene, freezing on the spot.

Su Shi closed his eyes and was kissed by Xu Chongming, two men mouth to mouth.

Chi Ye was deeply shocked. It turned out that the “friend” Xu Chongming spoke of was his boyfriend.

Suddenly, Su Shi opened his dazed eyes, just about to meet Chi Ye’s eyes in the distance.

Chi Ye didn’t know why, but his body swayed and he slipped into the green shadows of the trees.

Chi Ye was certain that Su Shi hadn’t seen him, otherwise Su Shi would have been the one who was startled.

Su Shi pushed Xu Chongming away, “Okay, you’ve eaten all the lipstick off my mouth.”

Xu Chongming wiped his mouth, “It’s delicious.”

“Where’s your cousin? Didn’t you say you were bringing him?”

Xu Chongming looked around, not seeing Chi Ye’s figure, “I don’t know, maybe he went to the restroom.”

“My dad told me to go home, I can’t hang out with you this afternoon.”

“Okay, my mom told me to take my cousin out to play.”

Xu Chongming watched Su Shi leave, and Chi Ye walked out from the shadows.

Xu Chongming frowned, “Where did you run off to?”

    “The restroom.”

    “Okay, let’s go then?”

Chi Ye was a little awkward, “What about him?”

    “Who?”

After a moment of thought, Chi Ye said, “Your boyfriend.”

Being exposed, Xu Chongming didn’t react much, smiling, “He went home, don’t tell my mom.”

    Chi Ye nodded.

Seeing Su Shi again, Chi Ye felt that he hadn’t changed much, only he was taller and more mature.

Su Shi was very busy, attending meeting after meeting. His studio was somewhat well-known, and recently had taken on a lot of work, with many exhibitions in the queue.

Su Shi wouldn’t take on more work just to earn more money. He had a bit of an obsessive-compulsive personality and couldn’t accept shoddy work, striving to make every exhibition as perfect as possible.

“You say you’re Teacher Su’s younger brother, so why don’t you have the same last name?”

The assistant, Little Jie, had been with Su Shi for two years and had never heard Su Shi mention having a younger brother, but there was a photo of him and his younger sister on his desk. The person in front of him didn’t resemble Su Shi in the slightest and even claimed to be Su Shi’s younger brother, so the assistant obviously didn’t believe him.

When had Chen Cheng ever suffered such grievances? “Su Shi uses his mom’s last name, and I use my dad’s last name.”

Little Jie was confused, “Go, go, go, we’re busy.”

“In short, I’m his half-brother, his only brother.”

Chen Cheng thought it over and over and still felt that his brother was angry with him that day, so it was necessary to explain. It was all that Chi Ye’s fault for causing disharmony between them brothers.

Chen Cheng got the address of Su Shi’s studio from his dad and came over. But the receptionist stopped him from entering, and later a person claiming to be Su Shi’s special assistant came and asked all sorts of questions.

Little Jie made an internal call at the front desk, “Teacher Su, someone claiming to be your younger brother is here to see you, he’s at the front desk now.”

After hanging up the phone, Little Jie spread his hands towards Chen Cheng and said to the front desk, “Teacher Su doesn’t have a younger brother, call security to kick him out, this isn’t the first time someone has falsely claimed to be a relative.”

The security guard at the door immediately came over to ask Chen Cheng to leave, and Chen Cheng shouted, “You people are all blind, I’ll tell my brother to fire you.”

Chen Cheng was ruthlessly thrown out by the security guard. He couldn’t get through to Su Shi’s phone, so he had no choice.

But Chen Cheng didn’t want to go back just like that, deciding to squat downstairs, determined to wait for Su Shi to come out.

Suddenly, he saw a familiar figure, it was that annoying Chi Ye from that day.

Chi Ye was carrying a thermal lunchbox. He arrived at the front desk and said, “Hello, my last name is Chi, I’m here to see Su Shi.”

Chen Cheng just watched as the front desk let Chi Ye in directly.

Chen Cheng rushed forward, loudly questioning the front desk, “How can he go in?”

The front desk ignored him and called the security guard again.

Chi Ye knocked on the door, and after someone answered inside, he pushed the door open and went in, “Su Shi, Brother, time to eat.”

“I told you not to come.”

“Anyway, I have nothing to do at home.”

    “Is your business finished?”

    “Yeah.”

Chi Ye saw that the takeout next to him hadn’t been opened. “If I didn’t come, wouldn’t you not eat?”

“I have something to read as soon as possible.”

    “You still have to eat.”

Even though they had only just met Chi Ye, Chi Ye’s words always gave Su Shi the feeling that they had known each other for a long time. Su Shi stretched and sat down next to Chi Ye, “Have you eaten?”

    “I forgot.”

“You’re such a silly kid, bringing me food but forgetting to eat yourself.”

    “I’ll eat your takeout.”

Su Shi frowned, “How can that be?”

“I don’t usually have the chance to eat takeout, I want to try it.”

Su Shi had heard Xu Chongming say that Chi Ye’s parents were gone, and he had grown up with his grandfather, so the old man might be more stubborn.

    “Is your family so strict?”

Chi Ye lowered his head, “Yeah, Grandpa doesn’t let me eat takeout, saying it’s unhygienic.”

    Ah, the poor thing.

“Okay, then you can try it.” Su Shi’s takeout was ordered by his assistant, his favorite braised pork ribs with rice.

The lunchbox Chi Ye prepared was very rich, with both meat and vegetables, and Su Shi smelled the aroma, “This must have been a lot of trouble.”

Chi Ye said indifferently, “It’s no trouble.”

Su Shi picked up some of the dishes from the lunchbox for Chi Ye, and the two of them filled their stomachs, one eating the lunchbox and the other eating the takeout.

After eating, Chi Ye said, “I’ll take the lunchbox home to wash it.”

“Okay.” There was no dish soap here, so it wouldn’t be convenient to wash it.

Coming out of Su Shi’s studio, Chi Ye was stopped.

“What are you doing here?” Chen Cheng looked unkind.

“I brought food for Su Shi, Brother, and now I’m going back to his house.”

Chen Cheng frowned, blurting out, “My brother actually let you live in his house? He wouldn’t be with you…” That’s not right, Su Shi has a boyfriend, Chen Cheng has met him.

Damn it, Chen Cheng had never been allowed to go to Su Shi’s house, he didn’t even know the address.

    “Yes.”

There was harm in comparison, and Chen Cheng was so angry that his teeth itched.

Su Shi finished his work, saw Chen Cheng’s missed calls, rubbed his temples and called back.

“Brother, I went to your company, but the people at your company wouldn’t let me in, are you still angry with me?”

“No, I’m busy, very busy today.”

Chen Cheng tentatively asked, “Brother, I want to go to your house to play.”

“You study hard, didn’t Dad sign you up for summer camp?”

“Then why can that Chi Ye live in your house?”

“He’s Chongming’s distant cousin, I’m temporarily taking care of him, he’ll leave when school starts.”

Still the same result, Chen Cheng suddenly realized that Su Shi was very good to him, but this kind of good was unreal, as if he could only appear at the Chen Family Home waiting for Su Shi to find him, and he couldn’t appear in Su Shi’s private circle.

    Why is it like this?!
