GLIHBN Chapter 50
by VolareChapter 50: Betting He’ll Turn Back
Rumble, rumble, thunder rumbled, the sound growing closer.
Bean-sized raindrops fell in strings, pelting the ground.
Chi Ye, however, remained standing still, staring intently in the direction Su Shi had left, like a stray dog abandoned by its owner. He faithfully waited in place, hoping his owner would return to take him away.
The rain poured down, the entire world enveloped by the sound of wind and rain.
The rain soaked through all of Chi Ye’s hair, his strands sticking to his forehead like a waterfall.
Chi Ye’s clothes were completely drenched, clinging to his body. He stood there as if unaware, stubbornly waiting in silence.
The rain came suddenly, and many people didn’t have time to take shelter. An older man, with a snakeskin bag over his head, ran towards his home. He stopped when he passed Chi Ye and advised, “Young man, hurry and run ahead to take shelter from the rain.”
Seeing that Chi Ye didn’t say anything, the man waved at him. “Hey, young man.”
Chi Ye blinked. “No, thanks.”
The man ran off, muttering to himself, “There are all kinds of people these days, some even like getting rained on.”
Every minute and every second of waiting was like torture for Chi Ye.
He didn’t know how long had passed, but his body temperature dropped rapidly, and even his fingers began to stiffen.
Finally, through the rain curtain, a beam of headlights appeared at the end of the road ahead. It wasn’t obvious at first, but it became increasingly clear.
The beam of light shone directly on Chi Ye’s face, reviving his heart.
He knew the person he was waiting for had returned.
Su Shi was simply furious. Chi Ye was standing there like a statue in front of him, letting the wind and rain batter him.
Su Shi realized for the first time that Chi Ye was so stubborn.
If he didn’t come back, how long would the other man stand in the rain?
Su Shi felt inexplicably angry.
The windshield wipers scraped non-stop, but to no avail.
The car stopped in front of Chi Ye, but he didn’t move for a long time. Su Shi’s anger grew.
He angrily pushed open the car door and roared at Chi Ye, “Get in the car!”
But it wasn’t that Chi Ye didn’t want to move. On the contrary, he wanted to move very much. He wanted to get in the car immediately and go to a place where Su Shi was, to get warmth.
But after being rained on for so long, his body was inevitably a little stiff.
Su Shi still didn’t see Chi Ye move, so he angrily ran over, grabbed Chi Ye, and shoved him fiercely into the car. He slammed the door shut and returned to the driver’s seat.
In just that short time, Su Shi was also soaked.
Sitting in the car, Su Shi shivered, turned on the heat, and hugged his arms, trembling.
Soon, the temperature in the car rose, and Chi Ye finally recovered a little. Seeing Su Shi next to him, he immediately took out clothes and a towel from a bag beside him.
Chi Ye handed these to Su Shi, but Su Shi was angry, glared at him, and pushed the things back in front of Chi Ye. “I don’t want them.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Do you know what kind of behavior this is?”
Chi Ye lowered his head. “It wasn’t intentional.”
Su Shi finally warmed up, but his wet clothes were still very uncomfortable.
But he didn’t want to accept Chi Ye’s clothes, so he just froze there.
The car insulated them from the outside world. In such terrible weather, in this unfamiliar place, only the two of them knew each other.
In the end, Su Shi gave in. “Hurry up and wipe yourself off. The car is rented. If it gets ruined, we’ll have to pay for it.”
Chi Ye didn’t care whether Su Shi wanted to or not. He leaned over and used the towel to wipe Su Shi’s hair, messing it up into a bird’s nest.
Su Shi was about to get angry when he heard Chi Ye say, “Should I take off your clothes for you, or will you change yourself?”
Today, Su Shi had seen many different sides of Chi Ye that he hadn’t seen before: stubbornness, persistence, slyness, and now, overbearingness.
Su Shi didn’t believe Chi Ye would dare to do that. He met Chi Ye’s cold gaze. “I won’t change. You change them yourself.”
One second, two seconds, three seconds.
When Su Shi counted to seven seconds in his mind, Chi Ye pounced on him, trying to grab Su Shi’s clothes.
Su Shi reacted reflexively and slapped Chi Ye.
But because the motion wasn’t big enough and the force was weak, it didn’t sound like a slap, but more like playful bickering.
But the effect was the same. Chi Ye stopped, turned his face to the side, and silently handed the clothes to Su Shi, his voice muffled. “I just want you to change into dry clothes. If you’re afraid I’ll watch, I can get out of the car.”
At this time, the rain gradually lessened, and the windshield wipers were no longer just for show.
Su Shi was like this. If someone was stubborn with him, he would be even more stubborn.
He had already softened once, and this time, Su Shi didn’t want to be at a disadvantage again.
Otherwise, his position would be undermined.
Su Shi didn’t say anything, started the car, stepped on the accelerator, turned around, and drove towards the city.
Chi Ye didn’t turn his head to look at Su Shi, only occasionally catching a glimpse of Su Shi’s shadow from the car window. He silently used the towel Su Shi had used to wipe his hair and face.
Chi Ye always thought he understood Su Shi thoroughly enough, but now it seemed that he was far from it.
Chi Ye didn’t regret standing in the rain. It was a gamble, betting that Su Shi would turn back.
As it turned out, Chi Ye had bet right. Su Shi’s heart wasn’t hard enough.
But Chi Ye regretted trying to force Su Shi to change into his clothes because he was afraid Su Shi would catch a cold.
He was too hasty.
Su Shi wasn’t someone who could be easily manipulated.
It was as if he hadn’t possessed him yet, and he was already slowly losing him.
The silence was tangible, accompanying them all the way to a hotel in the city.
Su Shi wanted to book another room for Chi Ye, but the front desk told him that they were fully booked.
Because the hotel wasn’t far from the Airport and it was raining, many guests didn’t want to run so far and chose to stay nearby.
He couldn’t just leave Chi Ye there, and he couldn’t go out to find another hotel. Helpless, Su Shi had to take Chi Ye upstairs.
In the past, they always had a lot to talk about. It wasn’t that they didn’t have common topics because one was a Studio boss and the other was still a student.
But now, silence was becoming more and more frequent.
This made Chi Ye feel very uncomfortable, even more uncomfortable than he had imagined.
It was as if countless ants were gnawing at his skin. Although it wouldn’t hurt too much, it had already broken the skin, and the pain had already seeped in.
Chi Ye wanted to break this damn silence.
But Su Shi kept his lips tightly closed, unwilling to even give him a glance, clearly not wanting to pay attention to anyone.
The coldness spread from the soles of his feet to his entire body. Chi Ye had an impulse to pry open Su Shi’s mouth.
Ding.
The elevator doors opened, and Chi Ye followed Su Shi to the room where he was staying.
As soon as he entered the room, Su Shi went to find clothes to take a shower, and at the same time said to Chi Ye, “Buy a plane ticket for tomorrow and go back.”
This wasn’t a suggestion, but an order.
After speaking, Su Shi went into the bathroom.
The only thing to be thankful for was that the bathroom wasn’t made of transparent glass, or it would be too awkward.
Taking off his clothes, enveloped by the hot water, Su Shi sighed and looked up.
What was all this?
Su Shi began to re-digest the information he had received today.
1. Chi Ye liked Su Shi, and it seemed like it had been for some time.
2. Chi Ye wasn’t as well-behaved and harmless as Su Shi had seen before. On the contrary, Chi Ye was stubborn and scheming.
Su Shi put his face under the showerhead, wanting the water to wake him up.
In any case, he shouldn’t provoke Chi Ye, Su Shi said to himself.
