    Chapter 46: Aftermath

Song Qingyan pushed open the door and, seeing Su Shi sleeping soundly on the bed, slowly closed it again.

    “Asleep?” Qiao Yu asked.

“Yeah, Su Shi is stronger than I thought.”

Qiao Yu pulled Song Qingyan to sit down in the living room. “Don’t worry, out with the old, in with the new. Your buddy isn’t lacking in qualities.”

“Of course, Su Shi is so great. If I were a girl, I’d like him too.”

The next second, he was pinched hard by Qiao Yu, and he cried out in pain, “Ah! What are you doing? That’s a really hard pinch.”

Qiao Yu’s face fell, looking particularly fierce. “Are you trying to die? You dare to joke about anything.”

Song Qingyan immediately leaned into Qiao Yu’s arms. “Don’t be so stingy. I was just having some fun with words.”

Qiao Yu pinched his lips shut, preventing him from speaking. “Not even having fun with words is allowed.”

Song Qingyan, unable to move his mouth, could only nod silently until Qiao Yu finally released his lips.

Song Qingyan touched his lips, complaining, “You used so much force, they’re probably red, right?”

    “No.”

“By the way, did you handle the aftermath well?”

Speaking of the aftermath, Qiao Yu told Song Qingyan what happened later.

Apparently, Du Li had regained his senses and caused a scene at the hotel front desk, demanding an explanation as to how they could let people into the room so easily, especially when the person used a room key to open the door.

The hotel manager had no choice but to lead Du Li to the office to find Qiao Yu.

Qiao Yu used only three sentences to dispel Du Li’s idea of demanding an explanation.

First sentence: Su Shi is my wife’s friend. My wife can’t stand seeing him being bullied, so I did what I did. What about it?

Second sentence: Aren’t you the one who’s the third party? Do you want me to expose you and let the internet users judge?

Third sentence: Instead of demanding an explanation, shouldn’t Mr. Du be thinking about how to explain this to his family?

Du Li was so angry that his face turned red, but he had to swallow his anger. He could only angrily fling his sleeves and leave.

Qiao Yu scoffed at this. Sorry, he, Qiao Yu, was not a gentleman.

In West Hangzhou, he wasn’t afraid of anyone.

Of course, except for the one at home.

After listening, Song Qingyan kissed Qiao Yu hard on the face. “Husband, you’re awesome.”

“Damn.” Qiao Yu moved uncomfortably. If Su Shi weren’t at home, he would have rectified Song Qingyan on the spot.

While Su Shi was sleeping soundly here, Xu Chongming was guarding the door of Su Shi’s home.

He knocked on the door again and again, and rang the doorbell again and again, but no one answered inside.

Xu Chongming was really scared, feeling this afraid for the first time. Su Shi’s resolute back view was more painful than a slap in the face.

“Su Shi, Su Shi, open the door.”

Later, the commotion became too loud and finally disturbed the property management.

The property management sent someone to the door to persuade Xu Chongming to leave. “Sir, Mr. Su is not at home. Please leave and don’t disturb the neighbors.”

“No, he’s inside. He’s just angry with me and doesn’t want to talk to me.” Xu Chongming was a bit of a mess. His clothes were disheveled, his hair was messy, and even his shoelaces were loose, looking a bit mad.

The property management guessed that this person had probably lost in love and was unwilling, so he came to pester. “If you don’t listen to advice, we can only call the police. You’re seriously disturbing the peace.”

Xu Chongming was still unwilling and pressed the doorbell a few more times. “Su Shi, please open the door.”

Fortunately, three people from the property management came and finally persuaded and pulled Xu Chongming downstairs.

Xu Chongming was still unwilling and stayed downstairs in the apartment building, refusing to leave.

Since he wasn’t making any more noise, the property management couldn’t do anything about him.

Chi Ye, half-hidden in the dark corner, watched Xu Chongming, who vowed to wait for Su Shi, and picked up his phone to call Jiang Hui.

    “Hello, Auntie.”

Soon, Xu Chongming’s exclusive ringtone set for Jiang Hui rang. Xu Chongming reluctantly answered, then took a deep look up at Su Shi’s home and left reluctantly.

After Xu Chongming left, Chi Ye strode into the apartment building and entered Su Shi’s home by entering the password.

The house was empty, and sure enough, no one was home. Even if Xu Chongming knocked himself to death at the door, no one would open it.

Chi Ye guessed that Song Qingyan probably took Su Shi away.

Chi Ye sat on the spot where Su Shi often sat on the sofa, hugging the Dog Pillow that Su Shi usually liked to hug, and buried his face in it. He only raised his face when he was about to suffocate.

Su Shi’s phone was muted by Song Qingyan, and no one disturbed him throughout the whole process. When he woke up, he found that the blackout curtains blocked the outside light, and this sleep had directly lasted until late morning.

Su Shi pushed open the door and saw Song Qingyan sitting on the sofa drawing on a tablet. “Why didn’t you wake me up?”

Song Qingyan glanced at him. “Why would I wake you up? Just get a good night’s sleep.”

“Work, work. I have work today.”

Song Qingyan was noncommittal. “Going later won’t cause the studio to close down.”

Su Shi quickly brushed his teeth and washed his face. Just as he was about to leave, Song Qingyan stopped him. “You’re not going to the studio like that, are you?”

Su Shi looked at the sportswear he was still wearing, borrowed from Song Qingyan. “Of course not. I’ll go home and change clothes, tidy myself up before going.”

“That’s more like it, worthy of being the Su Shi I know.” Song Qingyan hooked his neck and said, “But by the time you get there, it’ll probably be time for lunch, right?”

Su Shi didn’t care. “It doesn’t matter. The boss doesn’t have fixed working hours.”

“I even specially wanted to stay home and keep you company! And you don’t even give me the face to take a day off.”

“No need, if the sky falls, there are taller people to hold it up. What does my situation even count for?”

Seeing his friend regain his energy, Song Qingyan was very happy. “Okay, then you go quickly. I’ll go back and take a nap later.”

Su Shi put on his shoes and said to him, “Did I disturb you and Qiao Yu last night?”

“No, no, you’re welcome to come again tonight.”

Su Shi waved his hand and left. “Forget it, I’m afraid Qiao Yu will scold me behind my back.”

Once he was out the door, the smile on Su Shi’s face immediately disappeared. That’s right, Su Shi wasn’t in as good of a state as he had shown in front of Song Qingyan. He just didn’t want his friend to worry about him.

But his state wasn’t so bad either, he just needed some time to recover slowly.

Su Shi believed that it wouldn’t take long.

“Su Shi, Mr. Qi requested to meet with you, mainly because he wants our studio and you personally to issue a statement regarding the online opinion. Do you think we should meet or not?”

Su Shi received a call from Little Jie in the car. The fermentation of the matter was somewhat beyond his imagination.

It seemed that Mr. Qi had offended many people, and some people wanted to make a big deal out of this incident.

After all, he was a former partner, although there had been unpleasantness. Su Shi thought about it and agreed, asking Little Jie to arrange a time with the other party.

Su Shi returned home, but found Chi Ye at his home.

Chi Ye was sitting on the sofa with his eyes closed, hugging a Dog Pillow, as if he were in a trance, not moving at all.

    “Chi Ye.”

Chi Ye’s eyelashes twitched twice before he opened his eyes. Seeing Su Shi, he stood up excitedly. “Su Shi, you’re back.”
