GLIHBN Chapter 30
by VolareChapter 30: You’re a Ten, It’s a Nine
After Su Shi drove the car out of the gate, Xu Chongming returned to the house. Jiang Hui and Xu Junjie were both sitting on the sofa.
“Sit down,” Jiang Hui beckoned to Xu Chongming.
“Mom,” Xu Chongming hesitated in his heart whether to reveal his relationship with Su Shi to his parents now. However, having lived under Jiang Hui’s pressure since childhood, he was also afraid of angering his parents on his first day back, so he hesitated.
But Jiang Hui spoke first, “Miao Xinyi, you still remember her, right?”
Xu Chongming searched for the name in his mind, “I remember, we played together when we were little, she looked like a doll.”
Jiang Hui nodded, “Girls change a lot as they grow up. The former doll has now transformed into a strong woman. Your Uncle Miao is now semi-retired and has handed over all the family’s business to Xinyi.”
“Xinyi is an only child, so naturally it’s given to her.”
Jiang Hui watched Xu Chongming’s expression and said, “Your Uncle Miao mentioned you to me a few days ago. He knew you were returning to the country and, from what he said, he wanted you to visit the Miao family and catch up with Xinyi.”
Catch up? Xu Chongming could hear Jiang Hui’s meaning, especially with Su Shi in the picture, “Mom, I just got back.”
“So what? A family can only stand firm through the efforts and inheritance of several generations. I believe I have already done my best for the Xu family, and now it’s your turn.”
Xu Chongming wanted to say something but couldn’t refute it. Xu Junjie was useless and relied entirely on Jiang Hui’s social skills to manage the Xu family. Otherwise, their family couldn’t have continued to flourish.
Commercial marriage has always been the most convenient and easiest way to achieve a goal, allowing both families to benefit.
Jiang Hui sighed and softened her tone a bit, “Tomorrow I will take you to the company to familiarize yourself with it first. As for the matter with Xinyi, you can get to know each other first, it’s not like you have to settle down immediately.”
“Mom, the person I actually like is…”
“Is who?” Jiang Hui interrupted, “I don’t care who you liked before or how wild you played, but there’s one thing, you must marry the person I designate. You have to know that you are not just yourself. If you want to have a lifetime of wealth and glory, you should give up something.”
Xu Junjie put his arm around Jiang Hui, telling her not to be anxious, and said to Xu Chongming, “My marriage to your mother was also arranged by the family, but we’re doing pretty well, aren’t we? Feelings can be cultivated.”
Jiang Hui nodded in agreement, “It’s more important for a man to have money than anything else. The most important thing for you now is to expand your business territory. When the time comes, you can have anyone you want. There are only benefits and no disadvantages to associating with Xinyi, you won’t lose a piece of meat.”
At this moment, Xu Chongming even regretted returning to the country so early. As soon as he returned, he would lose his freedom.
“Mom, can you give me some time?”
Xu Junjie and Jiang Hui sang in harmony, “Your dad is useless, your mom is working hard to support this family. Chongming, you should help her share the burden.”
Jiang Hui said meaningfully, “Think about whether you still want to use that card without a limit.”
Xu Chongming lowered his head instantly, “Mom, I’ll listen to your arrangements.”
Chi Ye had been standing at the door for a while, and only walked in after they finished speaking, “Aunt, Uncle, Brother Chongming, I’m going back.”
Jiang Hui smiled faintly, “Xiao Ye, have dinner at home before you go back.”
“No, I have something to do when I get back.”
“Okay, let the driver take you back.”
“Okay.” Chi Ye nodded obediently and said to Xu Chongming, “Brother, come with me to the car.”
Jiang Hui was happy to see that they had a good relationship, “Chongming, go ahead, talk to Xiao Ye.”
Xu Chongming followed Chi Ye out, knowing that Chi Ye had something to say.
“When are you going to tell Aunt about Su Shi’s identity?”
Having just agreed to Jiang Hui, what else could Xu Chongming do at this moment? “It’s not the right time yet, I just got back and need to familiarize myself with the company’s business as soon as possible.”
In Chi Ye’s opinion, these were all excuses, and very poor ones at that.
Chi Ye stopped and faced Xu Chongming, “Su Shi is a good person, don’t make him sad, otherwise he’ll turn around and be with someone else, and you’ll regret it.”
Xu Chongming smiled, “No, I won’t make him sad, and he won’t be with anyone else.”
“How can you be so sure?”
Where did that confidence come from?
Xu Chongming straightened his back, “I’m just so sure.”
Chi Ye got into the car and gave the driver a shopping mall address.
It was the same shopping mall he had visited with Su Shi before, and still the same pet store. Unexpectedly, as soon as he entered, he saw a familiar figure.
Su Shi was bending over looking at the kittens in the cage, “Little darlings, what’s wrong? Are you sick?”
Chi Ye walked over, “Su Shi, you’re here too?”
Su Shi turned around, “Chi Ye, aren’t you at the Xu’s house?”
“If you can come, why can’t I?”
Okay, that was indeed a coincidence.
The little kitten was sick and listlesslypā: lying prone on the cat litter, occasionally lifting its eyelids to glance at them. “Nine-Nine is sick.”
Chi Ye also bent down to look, “What do you call it?”
“Nine-Nine, ah.”
“But didn’t the clerk say its name is Little Flower?” Because its fur color is flowery.
“Too tacky, just call it Nine-Nine.”
Nine-Nine, Chi Ye circled these two words on the tip of his tongue, “Okay, you’re a ten, it’s a nine.”
Su Shi shifted his gaze from the cat to Chi Ye, “You know?”
“What’s so hard to guess about that.”
Su Shi felt very happy, with a heart-melting cat to keep him company, and Chi Ye who understood him.
Su Shi treated Chi Ye to a coffee in the mall and then sent Chi Ye home.
Stopping the car, he saw the girl he had seen that day again. Chi Ye also saw her.
The girl seemed to have seen them too, waiting not far away.
Chi Ye released his seat belt but didn’t get out of the car immediately, and said to Su Shi, “Su Shi, can you do me a favor? Pretend to be my boyfriend.”
So this girl was really chasing Chi Ye, even blocking him downstairs.
Helping out wasn’t a big deal, Su Shi said, “Okay, I’ll go down and declare my sovereignty.”
Chi Ye curved the corners of his lips and happily pushed the door open to get out of the car.
“Chi Ye.”
The girl saw Chi Ye get out of the car and called out to him.
But Chi Ye didn’t respond, he walked to Su Shi and looked into his eyes.
Su Shi pretended, a pair of eyes looking at Chi Ye sincerely, “I can’t bear to part with you.”
Chi Ye touched his hair with his hand, “Me too.”
The girl had already walked in front of them and stopped to look at them.
Su Shi acted out the whole scene, “Chi Ye, you’re not allowed to look at anyone else, you’re only allowed to have me in your eyes.”
“Okay.” Chi Ye gently touched the top of Su Shi’s head with his lips, “I only have you in my eyes.”
Su Shi glanced at the girl, got into the car smartly, and left.
Until Su Shi’s car disappeared, Chi Ye went over to talk to the girl, “Why are you here again?”
The girl was so shocked by the scene just now that a raging fire of gossip was ignited, and she temporarily forgot what she was doing, “Student Chi, you and your partner are such a good match.”
The corners of Chi Ye’s mouth moved almost imperceptibly, “Not yet.”
“Ah?” The girl was a little dumbfounded. If they weren’t a couple, would they kiss each other’s heads? Would they be so clingy and affectionate when parting? I don’t understand, these damn gays.
Chi Ye said solemnly, “If you have something to say, just say it.”
The girl finally remembered what she was here for, “Student Chi, I sincerely invite you again to join our computer club.”
This was her second time inviting Chi Ye. Last week, there was a computer competition, and one of their team members couldn’t participate due to illness. Someone recommended Chi Ye to come and save the day. Chi Ye showed amazing talent on the field, allowing their team to easily win the championship. This rare talent must not be missed. The group leader entrusted her with the task of inviting Chi Ye, and she would pester him to death to get him to come.
“I’m not going, and don’t come here again in the future.”
Chi Ye walked towards the apartment, leaving the girl alone in the wind, in disarray.
