    Chapter 28: Cousin Returns Home

    Airport

Xu Chongming’s international flight was about to arrive in West Hangzhou University. Su Shi held a bouquet of roses and waited at the exit.

They hadn’t seen each other for two years, but Su Shi still spotted Xu Chongming in the crowd at a glance and waved to him, “Chongming.”

Xu Chongming also saw Su Shi, his eyes lit up, “Baby.” Then he quickened his pace and walked over, giving Su Shi a big hug.

Surrounded by the scent of the man’s body, Su Shi felt that the scent had become a little unfamiliar.

But it was normal for the scent to change after not seeing each other for so long and living abroad.

Xu Chongming let go of Su Shi, staring at his face, “My baby is even more beautiful.”

Su Shi put the flowers on Xu Chongming’s body, “For you.”

Xu Chongming lowered his head and sniffed, and said softly, “Thank you.”

Xu Chongming was a bit taller than Su Shi. He lowered his head, wanting to kiss Su Shi.

There were people all around, craning their necks in anticipation at the exit. Su Shi pushed him away, “There are so many people here.”

Xu Chongming affectionately stroked Su Shi’s nose, saying ambiguously, “Okay, we’ll wait until there’s no one around.”

When he leaned closer, Su Shi wrinkled his nose involuntarily.

Xu Chongming asked him, “What’s wrong?”

“You smell a bit strongly of smoke.”

Xu Chongming raised his arm and smelled it, “Do I? Maybe I was too excited to sleep because I was about to return home, so I smoked a few extra cigarettes.”

He said it nicely enough, and Su Shi seemed to believe it. Xu Chongming hugged him again. “Su Shi, I really, really missed you.”

People next to them kept glancing at them from time to time. Su Shi was thin-skinned, so he helped Xu Chongming push his luggage, escaping, “Let’s go.”

Xu Chongming hugged the flowers and quickened his pace, catching up with Su Shi in a few steps, “Back to your place, Chi Ye moved out, right?”

“Yes, he moved to his apartment.”

“That kid hasn’t given you a lot of trouble during this time, has he?”

Su Shi didn’t care whether Xu Chongming was being truly polite or just pretending. “Chi Ye is very sensible. Not only did he not cause me trouble, but he also helped me a lot.”

Xu Chongming was a little surprised, “I didn’t expect Chi Ye to get along so well with you.”

“Yeah, Chi Ye is very easy to get along with.”

Really? Is Chi Ye easy to get along with? Xu Chongming was almost suspicious whether the Chi Ye Su Shi was talking about was the same person he knew.

During the time when Xu Chongming was pursuing Su Shi, he couldn’t find anyone to talk to, so he would always call Chi Ye. Chi Ye was indeed a very good listener, and he kept his mouth shut, but after a long time, he realized that Chi Ye was indifferent to family ties and lacked empathy for some things.

Xu Chongming had two large suitcases. Su Shi helped him load them into the trunk and got into the car.

Just as the car drove out of the airport expressway, Xu Chongming’s phone rang. He said to Su Shi, “It’s my mom.”

Su Shi turned off the music in the car.

Jiang Hui heard from the family driver that he hadn’t picked up anyone at the airport, and she was calling to question him.

“Old Chen said he didn’t pick you up, where did you go?”

Xu Chongming glanced at Su Shi. Su Shi was looking straight ahead, not distracted.

    “My friend picked me up.”

Which friend? Where are you going now? Aren’t you coming home? Jiang Hui’s repeated questions were hard for Su Shi not to hear.

Xu Chongming vaguely Perfunctoryed a few words, hung up the phone, and was hesitating how to open his mouth to tell Su Shi.

Su Shi asked first, “Your mom wants you to go home?”

    “Yes.”

Su Shi said he understood, “Then go back, Auntie must miss you after not seeing you for so long.”

“Su Shi, you’re so good. My mom said we should go back together.”

Su Shi was a little surprised, “Ah, me too?”

Jiang Hui always meant what she said, this woman was resolute and vigorous, whether in the company or at home, she was the one who made the decisions.

It was Su Shi’s first time at Xu Chongming’s house. The tall and majestic building showed how generous the owner was.

Su Shi followed Xu Chongming into the door and was surprised to see Chi Ye, whom he hadn’t seen for a while, in the yard. He greeted him naturally, “Chi Ye.”

Chi Ye smiled slightly, “Brother Su Shi.”

Then he looked at Xu Chongming, “Brother, you’re back.”

Xu Chongming sized Chi Ye up and down, patted him on the shoulder, “Chi Ye, you’re as tall as me, not bad.”

“Yeah,” Chi Ye smiled, “Aunt and Uncle are waiting for you.”

The three of them entered the villa together.

Jiang Hui sat on the main sofa, Xu’s father Xu Junjie sat aside, seeing them come in, showing a kind old father’s smile, “You’re back.”

    “Dad, Mom, I’m back.”

Compared to Xu Junjie’s enthusiasm, Jiang Hui seemed a little colder, “It’s good that you’re back, this is your friend?”

Su Shi stood up straight, “Uncle and Auntie, hello, I’m Su Shi.”

“Being able to pick you up at the airport at the first time, you must have a good relationship with Chongming, don’t be polite, treat it like your own home.”

Su Shi nodded, “Thank you, Auntie.”

Su Shi rarely talked about family matters with Xu Chongming, but from the content of Jiang Hui’s frequent calls to Xu Chongming, Su Shi could see that she was relatively strong and strict with Xu Chongming.

In the past, when they went out on dates, Xu Chongming would often leave halfway because of a call from Jiang Hui.

So, although Su Shi hadn’t met Jiang Hui, Jiang Hui had always appeared between him and Xu Chongming.

Hearing that Su Shi and Xu Chongming were university alumni, Jiang Hui’s eyes swept over them, “Xiao Su, you quietly tell Auntie, did he have a girlfriend in college?”

Xu Chongming: “Mom, I can hear you.”

Jiang Hui “tsk”ed, “I’m asking Xiao Su.”

Su Shi’s face stiffened, but he quickly recovered. After all, he wasn’t a fledgling young man anymore, “I don’t know, Chongming never mentioned it to me.”

Jiang Hui seemed very interested in this topic, “You don’t even talk about this.”

    Chi Ye frowned almost imperceptibly.

“Auntie, Brother Chongming didn’t even tell me.”

Jiang Hui lost interest, and suddenly turned the topic to Su Shi, “Xiao Su, do you have a girlfriend?”

    “No.”

“What’s wrong with the kids these days, you and Chongming are the same age, why don’t you have girlfriends.”

    “Haven’t met the right one.”

Such sensitive topics made Su Shi want to escape from here as soon as possible, but out of politeness, he couldn’t do that.

Finally, when it was time for lunch, Jiang Hui greeted them at the dining table.

“Xiao Ye, your favorite pork tripe soup.”

    “Thank you, Auntie.”

“Have a good supplement, are you used to living outside?”

    “Used to it.”

Jiang Hui called Su Shi again, “Xiao Su, eat more.”

Xu Junjie took out a bottle of wine. Su Shi couldn’t drink because he had to drive, and Chi Ye didn’t drink because he was still a student, leaving only the three of them to drink.

Finally, after finishing the meal, Xu Chongming sent Su Shi to the parking place.

Xu Chongming said apologetically: “I will find a suitable opportunity to tell my parents that you are my boyfriend.”

Su Shi lowered his head to look at the pebbles under his feet, stepped on them with his feet, his expression hidden, “It’s okay, no rush.”

Chen Jingtian had encountered Su Shi and Xu Chongming together. At that time, he asked Su Shi what their relationship was. Su Shi did not deny it, but acquiesced.

Judging from Chen Jingtian’s reaction, he didn’t seem to object, and even seemed relieved, “Our family will rely on your brother to carry on the family line in the future.”

Standing in front of the Porsche, Xu Chongming reached out to touch Su Shi’s face.

Su Shi smelled the faint smell of smoke on Xu Chongming’s fingertips, and suddenly felt a little strange. It turned out that what separated them across the ocean was not just their bodies.

Xu Chongming didn’t give Su Shi much time to react, and held the back of his head.

The intermingling was full of each other’s breath, but Su Shi suddenly caught sight of Chi Ye standing under the tree in the distance.

Chi Ye was staring at them so fixedly, not feeling that he should avoid it at all.

    “Mmm.”

Su Shi accidentally bit down, Xu Chongming groaned, covered Su Shi’s eyes with his hand, and continued to deepen the kiss.

“Crack,” a twig on the ground was broken, like Chi Ye’s mood at this moment.

Some things were growing wildly at a terrifying speed, spreading in an uncontrollable direction.
