    Chapter 27: Drunk

    Bang, bang, bang.

A series of sounds, source unknown, were particularly clear in the car.

Su Shi touched his heart, muttering to himself, “Huh, it’s not beating fast, normal speed. Where is this heartbeat coming from?”

Before it was quiet for long, Su Shi started talking drunk again, still the same question, the same position, his chin still on Chi Ye’s shoulder, “Chi Ye, why are your ears so red? Why won’t you tell me?”

Su Shi stubbornly wanted to know why Chi Ye’s ears were so red, like a child, determined to get to the bottom of it.

Chi Ye moved his shoulder, trying to ignore the warm breath near his ear, but Su Shi grabbed his clothes with both hands, one in front and one in back.

“I’m hot,” Chi Ye had no choice but to say.

“Oh,” Su Shi very considerately said to the driver in the front, “Master, please turn down the air conditioner a bit, he’s hot.”

The driver glanced at them in the rearview mirror, “Okay, sir.” But in his heart, he thought, *How could he not be hot? They’re so close.*

Afraid that Chi Ye was hot, Su Shi consciously leaned to the other side, his head against the car window, closing his eyes and dozing off.

This position conveniently exposed a section of his neck. Chi Ye sighed and pulled him back, leaning him against himself. “It’s more comfortable to sleep like this.”

Soon they arrived at Su Shi’s apartment. The driver parked the car, gave the car keys to Chi Ye, and left on his little electric scooter.

Chi Ye helped Su Shi upstairs, entered the password on the keypad lock, and opened the door.

After getting him upstairs and lying down on the bed, Chi Ye suddenly remembered that he forgot to buy hangover medicine. He was just about to go out to buy some when Su Shi called out, “Bath, I want a bath.”

As he spoke, he started pulling at his clothes.

Seeing that he was about to take off his pants, Chi Ye quickly stopped him. “Don’t take them off.”

He was so drunk; he probably couldn’t be left alone. Forget it, he wouldn’t go out and call someone to deliver it.

Chi Ye filled the bathtub with water. Su Shi, with blurry eyes, was about to step in when Chi Ye stopped him again, “Hey, you haven’t taken off your pants yet.”

“One moment you tell me not to take them off, the next you tell me to take them off, so annoying.”

    Chi Ye was speechless.

Before Su Shi took off his pants, Chi Ye went out ahead of time to wait at the bathroom door, afraid that he might accidentally choke on the water.

After waiting for a long time without hearing any movement, Chi Ye couldn’t help but worry. He called out from outside, “Su Shi-ge, are you okay?”

There was no response from inside.

Chi Ye knocked on the door, “Su Shi-ge.”

    Still no sound.

Chi Ye had no choice but to open the door and go in. He saw Su Shi in the bathtub, covered in foam from head to toe, his eyes closed, not knowing whether he was asleep or pretending.

    “Su Shi-ge.”

Suddenly, Su Shi shuddered and stood up abruptly.

With a “splash,” the water in the bathtub churned a few times, and the layer of foam on top flowed out.

Su Shi stood there blankly, his eyelids slowly moving, about to open his eyes.

Chi Ye, not caring about his shock, quickly grabbed a large bath towel from the nearby shelf and wrapped it around Su Shi.

Su Shi just happened to open his eyes. “I’m done washing.”

He seemed drunk and not drunk at the same time. Chi Ye secretly breathed a sigh of relief, his throat inexplicably dry.

After drying his hair and putting him back to bed, Chi Ye went downstairs to take a shower. Because he didn’t have a change of clothes, he had to put his original clothes back on.

Just then, the hangover medicine arrived. Chi Ye poured a glass of warm water and took it upstairs.

Su Shi was sleeping peacefully. Chi Ye touched his arm, “Su Shi-ge, come on, take the medicine, or you’ll have a headache tomorrow.”

Su Shi just “mhm”-ed, but didn’t move.

Chi Ye had no choice but to lift his head, squeeze the medicine into his mouth, and then feed him water. Although Su Shi didn’t wake up, his lips would consciously drink when they met water, so the medicine was fed quite smoothly.

Chi Ye wanted to go downstairs to sleep, but after thinking about it, he felt a little uneasy, so he slept on the small sofa in Su Shi’s room.

In the middle of the night, Chi Ye was awakened by a strange sound.

The sound wasn’t loud, a soft whimpering. When he turned on the light, Chi Ye realized that the sound was coming from Su Shi.

At this time, Su Shi was curled up, holding the quilt to his chest, calling out, “Mom, Mom.”

Su Shi was crying, tears soaking the quilt in his arms, his eyelashes clumped together, his appearance pitiful enough to make anyone feel pity.

Chi Ye half-squatted in front of his bed, wanting to reach out but retracting his hand.

    “Mom, come back.”

Who would have thought that the Su teacher who was outwardly sunny and cheerful, and whose scolding was full of wit, would secretly hug his quilt and cry for his mother.

    Chi Ye smiled bitterly.

The air conditioner was turned down low. Afraid that Su Shi would catch a cold, Chi Ye got up and tried to pull the thin blanket to cover him.

However, with this pull, as if being violated, Su Shi grabbed the person trying to take the blanket.

Chi Ye suddenly lost his balance, supporting himself on both sides of Su Shi with both hands to barely maintain his posture, so as not to press down on the other person.

But even so, they were very close, so close that Chi Ye’s nose was only half an inch away from Su Shi’s face.

Su Shi slowly stopped crying, turning his face to face Chi Ye, their breaths intertwined.

Chi Ye didn’t dare to move. Something beautiful was attracting him, wanting him to take a bite, but beautiful things were dangerous.

A few seconds passed, and Chi Ye’s hands were already numb.

Su Shi finally let go of him, turning his face to the other side, revealing a slender nape.

The next day, when Su Shi woke up, he had a vague impression of everything from last night.

He only vaguely remembered that Chi Ye seemed to have taken him back, and seemed to have given him candy. Never mind, it wasn’t important, he didn’t want to think about it, time to go to work.

After quickly finishing breakfast, Su Shi threw himself into work.

Little Jie came in with a few documents, “Su Teacher, these are the screened letters of intent.”

“Okay, put them down first, I’ll look at them later.” Su Shi stood up, taking his mug to the water dispenser next to him and bending over to get water.

Little Jie glanced inadvertently, “Su Teacher, on your neck…”

Su Shi filled the water and straightened up, touching his neck, “What’s wrong?”

“Was it bitten by a bug? Or…”

But Little Jie knew that Su Shi’s boyfriend wasn’t in the country, and Su Shi wasn’t the type of man to mess around.

As an assistant, he wasn’t qualified to manage the boss’s private life, but today he was meeting clients, and Su Shi was wearing a collarless shirt. As long as he lowered his head slightly, others would be able to see the mark on the back of his neck. To prevent any misunderstandings, Little Jie felt it was necessary to remind him.

Su Shi looked in the mirror, but he couldn’t see the back of his neck at all. Little Jie had to take a picture with his phone, and then he saw that there was a small mark there, not big, but very unsightly.

Su Shi wasn’t like Little Jie, he didn’t think of anything else at all. “Looks like I need to get my bed cleaned for mites.”

Fortunately, he had spare clothes in the car. Su Shi asked Little Jie to get them and change.

After changing his clothes, Little Jie asked one more question. “Do you remember what happened after Chi Ye took you back last night?”

“He probably went back after dropping me off, right? He wasn’t here when I woke up this morning.”

Whew, Little Jie breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that he had overthought it.
