    Chapter 25 Moving Out

Having returned from the White Heron Resort, Su Shi threw himself back into work, getting caught up in a whirlwind of activity.

He wasn’t sure what Chi Ye had been busy with recently, as it had been a long time since Su Shi had eaten dinner with him at home.

The successful completion of several recent projects had brought both fame and fortune to the studio, and new clients who had heard of them were proactively reaching out.

Su Shi decided to hold a celebration party to reward the team.

Little Jie was in charge of booking the venue, and as usual, he asked Su Shi, “Su Shi, Teacher Su, should we still choose Nan Ting for this celebration party?”

Nan Ting Yage was a private restaurant with a secluded location in a bustling area and an elegant environment, making it a good place for small team building events. The studio had chosen it for team building before.

Over time, Su Shi had become familiar with the owner.

Su Shi paused his writing and looked up to think for a moment, “No, this time let’s find a more high-end, stylish place.”

Working was about making money, and making money was about spending it. Su Shi wasn’t a stingy boss and felt it was necessary to use this celebration to boost the team’s morale.

A qualified assistant not only had to know what the boss was thinking but also had to have multiple plans besides A, such as B, C, and D. Little Jie quickly provided several high-end restaurants as options, “Then there’s Jin Yi Lai, Fame Tower, and Ying Ke Ju. These places are upscale without being pretentious.”

But then he thought about it and said with some regret, “Fame Tower is a place that many colleagues dream of going, but it’s hard to book. I heard that you have to book a month in advance.”

Fame Tower was like a dazzling pearl, located on the top floor of the city’s tallest building, the Pinnacle Building, as if it were a bridge between West Hangzhou and the stars. Each of its private rooms was like an independent planet, full of mysteries, hence the name.

Su Shi smiled slyly, “Then let’s go to Fame Tower. Don’t worry, I have connections.”

Little Jie immediately beamed with joy and said excitedly, “Okay, then I’ll wait for Teacher Su’s news.”

“You’ve worked hard during this time. I’ll give you a big red envelope at the end of the year.”

What working person doesn’t love money? And Su Shi always delivered on his promises, unlike those bosses who only drew empty pictures for their employees. Little Jie immediately narrowed his eyes with a smile, “Thank you, Teacher Su.”

    “Go ahead.”

Fame Tower was a property of Qiao Yu’s family. Song Qingyan could definitely help with booking a reservation.

Song Qingyan was currently buried in a pile of design drafts, feeling overwhelmed. He was a jewelry designer and had very high standards for himself. Although the team thought the designs were excellent, he was still not satisfied.

Su Shi’s call interrupted Song Qingyan at just the right time. Song Qingyan lay sprawled on his large desk, turned on the speakerphone, and lazily said, “Hello.”

“Yan Yan, what are you doing?”

    “Revising design drafts, Su Su.”

Usually, they called each other by their full names, only occasionally using “Yan Yan” and “Su Su” when they were being playful. Usually, when they called each other like that, it meant they had something to say.

Song Qingyan simply asked first, “Just tell me what’s up.”

Su Shi chuckled awkwardly, “You really are a close friend. I haven’t even said anything yet, and you already know.”

“Hmph, why else would you call me so sickeningly sweet if you didn’t need something!”

    “Haha, my bad.”

Su Shi explained what he needed help with, and Song Qingyan propped himself up and sat up straight, “OK, I’ll have Qiao Yu take care of it.”

Having connections really allows you to go anywhere. Su Shi showered Song Qingyan with rainbow farts, “Yan Yan, I’m so envious, not jealous, not hateful, of your position in your family.”

Song Qingyan accepted the rainbow farts without any guilt and said, “Wait for it.”

In just a few minutes, Song Qingyan gave Su Shi a reply: Done.

Song Qingyan and Qiao Yu were childhood sweethearts and had known each other longer than they had known Su Shi. Su Shi had witnessed their relationship all the way, and it was more exciting than a TV series. He escaped, he chased, he couldn’t escape, they were entangled all the time, and finally, everything settled down, and they were glued together, showering everyone with dog food every day.

So, it was no wonder that Song Qingyan would complain that Su Shi’s relationships were like elementary school games.

Xu Chongming had been contacting Su Shi more frequently recently, as if they had returned to the beginning of their relationship.

He sent frequent messages, made frequent calls, and spouted sweet talk one after another.

Su Shi got off work early today and, as usual, didn’t see Chi Ye at home.

Excluding the possibility that Chi Ye was deliberately avoiding him, Su Shi decided not to think too much about it. Everyone had their own things to do, and so did he.

Su Shi took a shower early, applied his skincare products, lay down on the bed, and found the book he had only read halfway through in the hospital. After reading for a while, his eyelids began to droop.

Xu Chongming’s video call came as scheduled, and Su Shi forced himself to chat with him.

When Xu Chongming told Su Shi that Grandpa Chi had bought Chi Ye an apartment outside and that Chi Ye was going to move out, Su Shi was really surprised. Because Chi Ye had never told him about it.

Xu Chongming raised an eyebrow in the camera, “What, Chi Ye didn’t tell you?”

“No, he didn’t tell me. I’ve been busy these past few days, and we haven’t even had a chance to say a few words.”

Xu Chongming complained, “Chi Ye is really something. How could he not tell you this in advance?”

Su Shi said nonchalantly, “It’s not necessary, right? Maybe he wanted to tell me on the day he moved out.”

Later, Su Shi didn’t pay attention to what else Xu Chongming said. He said he was tired and wanted to sleep, and hung up the video call.

However, Su Shi couldn’t fall asleep until after twelve o’clock.

It wasn’t until he heard movement downstairs that Su Shi got out of bed and went downstairs.

Perhaps afraid of disturbing him, Chi Ye was moving very lightly. Su Shi stood at the top of the stairs and called out to Chi Ye.

Seeing that Su Shi was still awake so late, Chi Ye said in surprise, “Su Shi, Brother Su Shi, are you still awake?”

Su Shi casually made an excuse, “I came down to get a drink of water.”

“Okay, I’m going to take a shower.” Chi Ye brushed past Su Shi, preparing to enter his room.

“Chi Ye, I heard from your brother that you’re moving out.”

Chi Ye’s back stiffened, his footsteps stopped, and he slowly turned around, “Yes, I was planning to tell you in a few days. Brother Su Shi, thank you for taking care of me during this time.”

For some reason, an inexplicable emotion surged into Su Shi’s heart, and he said with difficulty, “Don’t mention it. You’ve taken care of me more.”

Chi Ye’s voice lowered, “No, it’s not. It’s already been a lot of trouble for you that I’ve been staying here.”

Su Shi bit his lip, feeling puzzled: This guy Chi Ye, why does he seem to be growing distant from me? We were clearly having fun together at the resort a few days ago, talking about everything.

Su Shi had thought that they had lived under the same roof for so long that they could at least be considered friends, but who would have thought that Chi Ye was about to move out, and he, the landlord, was the last to know!

    Su Shi didn’t understand.

“Then I’ll help you move when the time comes.”

“No need, I don’t have much stuff, just one bag.”

Chi Ye had come with one bag, and now he only had a few more sets of clothes that Su Shi had bought him, so one bag was still enough to hold everything.

Su Shi had no choice but to shrug, “Okay, then let me know when you’ve settled in.”

Su Shi turned and went upstairs, completely forgetting that he had just told Chi Ye that he had come down to get a drink of water.

Chi Ye returned to his room, leaned against the headboard, and his thoughts churned.

Chi Ye hadn’t told Chi Xiangqin that he was living at Su Shi’s house, only that he was living in Xu Chongming’s house.

A few days ago, he had received a call from Chi Xiangqin, saying that he had bought him an apartment near West Hangzhou University and told him to move there, so as not to always trouble others.

This was an order, not a discussion, and Chi Ye had no choice but to comply.

In his heart, he knew very well that that apartment was a new cage, and moving into it was equivalent to living under Chi Xiangqin’s surveillance again.
