GLIHBN Chapter 19
by VolareSu Shi’s indicators were all normal, and he was finally discharged from the hospital.
The hospital was filled with the smell of disinfectant. Although he hadn’t stayed for many days, the moment Su Shi walked out of the hospital, it was no exaggeration to say that he felt reborn. Even the air smelled of freedom.
Chi Ye made a special trip home to get the car. Su Shi got in, fastened his seat belt, and gestured, “Let’s go, home.”
Finally back home, Su Shi immediately took a shower to wash away the hospital smell.
The morning sunlight was abundant, taking over the entire balcony. Su Shi lay on the beanbag chair next to it, closing his eyes and dozing off, with melodious piano music playing from the stereo.
The phone rang inopportunely, breaking the beautiful moment.
Su Shi opened his eyes and saw that the caller ID was Chen Jingtian. His mood instantly soured.
The last time he went back, Chen Jingtian called him into the study to talk about getting Chen Cheng registered on their family’s household registration booklet. This wasn’t the first time Chen Jingtian had brought it up.
Su Shi’s attitude was very firm: he wouldn’t allow it.
In Su Shi’s eyes, this was the Su family’s household registration booklet.
He didn’t know why Chen Jingtian was so insistent on getting Chen Cheng registered, probably wanting to exercise the rights of the head of the family.
Chi Ye was reading in the room. He was just about to go out to pour a glass of water when he heard Su Shi on the phone outside, his tone not good, as if he was arguing.
Su Shi had always had a good temper. Chi Ye had never seen him truly get angry with anyone.
The time he had a work-related conflict with Mr. Qi, Su Shi at most cursed a few colorful phrases, never like this.
Although it wasn’t hysterical, Chi Ye could hear the deep helplessness and disappointment in his voice.
Chi Ye also heard Chen Cheng’s name, as well as words like “joining the company.”
Chi Ye put down his cup and sat back down, preparing to wait for Su Shi to finish his call before going out.
After a while, there was no more sound outside.
However, suddenly there was a “bang,” as if something had exploded and shattered.
Chi Ye rushed out of the room and saw Su Shi’s chest rising and falling rapidly, clearly very angry.
In front of him was a pile of glass shards, from the vase.
Chi Ye went over and pulled Su Shi aside, looking him up and down to make sure he was okay. He then pressed him down to sit and went to get a broom to clean up the glass himself.
Originally, Su Shi was very happy to be back home after recovering from his illness.
Chen Jingtian was such a buzzkill, bringing up old issues again and again, being so aggressive. He not only acted like an old father to pressure him, but also mentioned Su Qing.
How could Su Shi not be angry?
Su Shi didn’t have any hope for Chen Jingtian. In order to get the other person to shut up, he said that he had just been discharged from the hospital. Upon hearing this, the other person pretended to be very concerned and complained about how he hadn’t told his family, told him to take care of his health, and so on.
Chi Ye didn’t say anything, silently cleaning up the broken glass.
After sweeping up the surrounding shards, he found another piece near Su Shi’s foot. Chi Ye knelt down and leaned over to pick it up.
Su Shi suddenly said, “Chi Ye, do you know? I also have a younger sister.”
Chi Ye picked up the piece of broken glass, held it in his hand, and looked up at him, “I know.”
A faint smile appeared on Su Shi’s face, “My sister’s name is Su Qing. She’s the only gift my mother left me.”
Chi Ye understood something. Only Su Qing was Su Shi’s true family in every sense of the word.
“She must be as good-looking as you.”
“Yes, she’s both good-looking and cute, like an angel.”
Su Shi bit his lip, wanting to tell Chi Ye all of this frankly, but ultimately he held back. He swallowed everything back down.
Su Shi considered himself to be an energetic person.
Since he was an energetic person, he should make the people around him feel happy and energized, not spread negative emotions. Chi Ye wasn’t a trash can.
Even so, Chi Ye still understood.
He quietly stayed with him, waiting for his emotions to slowly recover.
After a while, Su Shi said in a low voice, “I’m okay.”
“That’s good.”
Su Shi tapped on his phone, his eyebrows dancing, “Look, this is a resort. The scenery is very beautiful. There’s a very beautiful lake. Many online celebrities go there to check in. Do you want to go have some fun?”
Chi Ye opened the screen with a serious expression, swiped it twice, “It’s really good. Su Shi-ge, I want to go.”
A smile appeared on Su Shi’s face, “Okay, then let’s pack our things and set off. Let’s go on a trip without planning, and let annoying things go to hell.”
“Okay.”
The two of them went their separate ways, returning to their rooms to pack a few changes of clothes and toiletries.
Su Shi brought a lot of things, packing a whole suitcase, which he carried down from upstairs.
Chi Ye still only had a backpack and complained about him, “Why didn’t you wait for me to come up and help you carry it?”
“I’m not that delicate.” Su Shi still handed him the suitcase, teasing, “Then I’ll hand it over to you now, Butler Chi.”
Chi Ye took the suitcase and pushed it along.
Little Jie expressed his approval of Su Shi’s decision to go out and have fun and had already helped book the hotel. Su Shi and Chi Ye only needed to go there and check in directly.
The place was about 80 kilometers from the scenic spot. If the highway conditions were good, it would take about an hour and a half to get there.
Chi Ye was still driving.
Su Shi had been sleeping a lot in the hospital these past few days and wasn’t sleepy at all on the way. He kept chatting with Chi Ye.
Although the two were seven years apart, they had quite a few common topics and could talk to each other easily.
The road wasn’t very smooth, and it took more than two hours to drive, but it wasn’t boring at all, and it passed quickly.
As they entered the resort, a cool breeze blew in their faces. It was a few degrees cooler here than in the city.
The car stopped in front of a quaint hotel.
“This is it, it’s quite beautiful.” Su Shi got out of the car first.
The two checked in at the front desk. The front desk clerk confirmed, “You booked a deluxe suite. Please sign here and leave your phone number.”
Su Shi signed on it.
Little Jie had booked a suite, with separate rooms, sharing a living room and bathroom. The room was clean and tidy, and the scent of the aromatherapy was very pleasant. Su Shi was quite satisfied.
When Chi Ye went to the restroom, Su Shi received a call from Chen Cheng. Considering that he had ignored Chen Cheng several times, he had no choice but to answer this call.
At this moment, Su Shi’s mood was much calmer. Chen Cheng couldn’t affect him anymore.
Chen Cheng was still so loud and boisterous. He probably learned from Chen Jingtian that Su Shi was sick and hospitalized and was clamoring to come and see him.
Su Shi had no choice but to say that he had been discharged from the hospital and was now on a business trip out of town.
Chen Cheng then asked where he had gone, complaining that Su Shi was working too hard just after recovering from his illness.
Su Shi patiently coaxed him for a few words.
He was about to hang up the phone when Chen Cheng couldn’t help but ask one more question on the phone, “Brother, do you really like me, your younger brother?”
Su Shi’s voice was soft, without a hint of hesitation, “What nonsense are you thinking? You’re my only younger brother.”
Chi Ye laughed inexplicably upon hearing this.
Sometimes, he felt that Su Shi was like a ragdoll cat, noble and impeccable on the outside but soft on the inside. But sometimes, he felt that he was like a fox, cunning and good at hiding.
