Chi Ye slowly fed Su Shi porridge spoonful by spoonful, his expression focused and patient.
As soon as Su Shi licked his lips, Chi Ye understood, picked up the water glass next to him, put a straw in it, and placed it near his mouth.
Su Shi took a big gulp of water through the straw and continued to text. Using his left hand wasn’t as nimble as his right, so he typed slowly, poking at his phone.
Finally, the guy on the other hospital bed noticed the two people standing at the door and raised his chin towards Chi Ye: “Hey, are those two at the door here to see your boyfriend?”
The guy hadn’t been sound asleep and had heard all the movements in the room. Being taken care of so carefully, they must be a couple.
Su Shi was still concentrating on texting with his head down and didn’t notice who the guy was talking to.
Chi Ye, however, hurriedly turned his head to look at the door.
Song Qingyan and Li Ming met Chi Ye’s gaze, gave an awkward forced smile, and, undoing the pause button, walked in.
Hearing the footsteps, Su Shi finally noticed their presence and looked at them in surprise, “Hey, how did you guys get here?”
Song Qingyan and Li Ming exchanged a look, both reading the same sentence in each other’s eyes: *This guy is really carefree.*
Seeing they weren’t saying anything, Su Shi asked again, “What’s wrong with you guys? Are you dumb?”
As soon as Song Qingyan and Li Ming came in, Chi Ye stood up, gave them a slight nod, and walked to the other side of the bed, vacating the seat.
Song Qingyan also nodded; there was only one seat, so he let Li Ming sit down.
Song Qingyan felt that Su Shi’s acute gastroenteritis was caused by working too hard and not taking good care of his body.
Song Qingyan wanted to take this opportunity to give Su Shi a good talking-to, preferably making him feel remorseful, and scolding him with a straight face, “If I hadn’t happened to be looking for Little Jie, I wouldn’t have known you were in the hospital, you idiot.”
Li Ming looked at Song Qingyan in surprise, seemingly not expecting the person who had been so concerned about Su Shi’s condition on the way here to be so fierce now. But Li Ming quickly understood; this was a true friend, disappointed that he wasn’t living up to his potential.
“Yeah, how did this happen suddenly?”
Since Song Qingyan had introduced Li Ming to Su Shi, and Li Ming had been a great help to Su Shi, they gradually learned that they had known each other since childhood.
With this connection, and with common friends, Li Ming and Su Shi became even closer.
When Song Qingyan learned that Su Shi was hospitalized, Li Ming happened to be with him, so they came together.
They were worried about Su Shi all the way, but when they got to the hospital room, they saw him sitting on the bed playing on his phone, with a handsome guy serving him food.
Su Shi wasn’t ungrateful and knew that his friend was actually concerned about him, so he clutched his stomach, “Don’t mention it, it hurts so much.”
Su Shi still felt lingering fear when he thought about that terrible feeling, he really wanted to just die then.
Su Shi was very afraid of pain, he had been since he was a child. His pain sensitivity was higher than average; when he was a child, he would cry for a long time even after just falling.
Su Shi had been raised pampered. Before he was nine, he was the apple of everyone in his family’s eye. His maternal grandparents loved this only grandson very much, giving him whatever he wanted, and even Chen Jingtian at that time had shown him much affection.

Song Qingyan’s tone softened, “Then are you okay now? What did the doctor say?”
Su Shi looked at Chi Ye.
Chi Ye said, “The doctor said to observe for two more days before being discharged. You need to pay attention to your diet in the future and take good care of yourself.”
Song Qingyan looked at Chi Ye standing opposite him, “You must be Chi Ye. Thank you for taking care of him.”
Chi Ye said softly, “It’s nothing.”
Song Qingyan gave Su Shi a strange look.
The two had a silent understanding. Su Shi said to Chi Ye, “Chi Ye, since they’re here to keep me company, you can go out and get some air. You must be bored staying in the hospital room all the time.”
This was an attempt to send him away. Chi Ye nodded and went out.
As soon as Chi Ye left, Song Qingyan immediately changed his face and questioned him, “Who were you texting just now?”
Su Shi held up his phone, “Xu Chongming.”
Li Ming had heard Song Qingyan mention that Su Shi had a boyfriend studying abroad who hadn’t returned for several years, which was equivalent to just having the title.
He clicked his tongue, “Then you just calmly let him serve you food and water?”
“Ah?” Su Shi belatedly realized that he had been too focused just now and hadn’t thought so much, naturally opening his mouth to accept what Chi Ye was feeding him.
Thinking about it now, it was indeed inappropriate.
Song Qingyan asked, “Did you tell Xu Chongming that you were hospitalized?”
“No, why would I tell him that? He can’t come see me anyway.” Su Shi didn’t think there was anything wrong with that.
Now Song Qingyan and Li Ming both felt that something was wrong, “That’s not how you have a relationship, right?”
Song Qingyan and Qiao Yu had been together for two years and had always been very close, so he couldn’t understand Su Shi and Xu Chongming’s relationship, which was no better than a platonic one.

Seeing that Su Shi wasn’t speaking, Song Qingyan knew he had hit a sore spot, “When Li Ming and I saw Chi Ye feeding you at the door just now, we were momentarily dazed and thought Chi Ye was your boyfriend.”
Li Ming nodded from the side, “That’s right, that’s what I thought too.”
“He’s Xu Chongming’s cousin, so he’s practically my cousin too. He’s still a kid.”
“He’s going to college soon, he’s not a kid anymore.”
The guy on the next hospital bed got out of bed and left the room, heading to the smoking area, where he saw Chi Ye.
Chi Ye leaned against the wall, looking out the window, very quiet and beautiful.
The guy walked closer and lit a cigarette, “Sorry about that. I misunderstood your relationship earlier.”
Chi Ye turned his head, “It’s okay.”
The guy was hospitalized alone and didn’t have anyone to talk to. His mouth was too idle, so he wanted to find someone to talk to, “Later, I heard your friend telling his friend that you were his boyfriend’s cousin, which is equivalent to being his cousin, and I realized I had misunderstood.”
Chi Ye didn’t say anything.
The guy took a puff of the cigarette in his hand and said, “Then you’re pretty good, taking care of your cousin’s boyfriend like this.”
Chi Ye patted the dust off his clothes, “I’ll go first.”
Song Qingyan and Li Ming happened to come out of the room and met Chi Ye, who was about to go in.
Chi Ye paused, “Are you going back now?”
“Yeah, we have something else to do. Thank you for your hard work tonight, I’ll come and relieve you tomorrow,” Song Qingyan said.
“No need, you’re busy, anyway, I have nothing to do.”
“That’s too much trouble.”
“It’s okay, take care.”
Chi Ye didn’t give Song Qingyan a chance to refuse and walked into the room.
When Su Shi saw him come back, his nose twitched sensitively, “Did you smoke?”
“No, someone was smoking next to me, I might have picked up the smell.”
