Chapter Index

Shi Xing fell down, and within ten minutes, a stream of medical staff and a hover vehicle carrying large equipment rushed into the living quarters.

Outside the shielding room, Fei Chu initially felt a bit anxious for Chi Yao, but when he saw that Chi Yao was fine and Shi Xing collapsed instead, he was momentarily surprised. He was then ushered in by Er Ya to help.

Chi Yao wanted to pick up Shi Xing, but was stopped by Er Ya. “You stay here. Fei Chu will take Xing Xing back to the room, Uncle Xu will come up to take over. He absorbed the energy from your mental sea, so you can’t leave until I confirm your safety and that you are safe for everyone else.”

Fei Chu and the group of officers found this reasoning sound.

Just as Chi Yao was about to retort, he suddenly gasped and lowered his head.

It was nothing but the fact that some of his energy had been drawn out, and his mental sea was indeed affected, currently fluctuating.

Feeling Chi Yao’s sudden release of mental power, Er Ya pushed Fei Chu, who was holding Shi Xing, and Fu Qing out of the energy shielding room. When the door closed, a burst of unconscious mental power exploded inside the shielding room, but Er Ya’s barrier firmly blocked it.

“You take care of Shi Xing, I’ll take care of Chi Yao. Go.”

Seeing Fei Chu’s worried gaze as he looked back, Er Ya made her decision without hesitation.

    “I—”

One hand supported the floor as Chi Yao was about to say something, but another surge of mental power erupted from his body.

“Don’t say anything. Adjust your breathing and control yourself first.”

“If you can’t control it, you can’t see Xing Xing like this. It will cause him secondary harm.”

Not knowing if Er Ya’s words triggered something crucial, Chi Yao took a deep breath and finally nodded.

Xu Jin was called upstairs in this somewhat perplexing scene.

Knowing Er Ya was covering for him, he hastily arranged for medical personnel and attendants to take over for Shi Xing without bothering to check on Chi Yao.

As a head attendant of the palace, Xu Jin quickly began giving orders without wasting time, helping the busy crowd find their bearings and preventing them from becoming overly flustered.

Xu Jin had seen Shi Xing faint more than once. This time, he remained calm and took a temperature gun, checking Shi Xing’s forehead and limbs. Seeing normal temperature readings, Xu Jin pursed his lips with a serious expression before scanning Shi Xing’s clothing and decisively ordered, “Set up the robot to change him into sleepwear. It needs to be breathable and wick sweat; he’ll be more comfortable.”

Yan Changyue nodded beside him. “Okay.”

    “Has the doctor arrived yet?”

Just as he spoke, a line of medical staff poured in at the entrance. Xu Jin scanned the room, “The attending doctor and nurses stay, but if there are more than fifteen people in the room, some attendants must go out to maintain ventilation. Move large equipment to the adjacent room; extend the testing line.”

The medical staff acknowledged his orders, as that was how it had been done before.

After the attending doctor took Shi Xing’s temperature again, his expression also grew much more serious. “Temperature is normal.”

Yan Changyue added, “He just fainted; even if he does develop a fever, it will take some time.”

The doctor nodded, listening to Fei Chu explain the situation while starting to set up the equipment.

Since the issue arose during treatment, they naturally needed to check the mental sea first. However, the results were unexpected, and the doctor said in surprise, “We can’t probe the royal prince’s mental sea situation.”

Xu Jin frowned. “What do you mean?”

“It seems that the energy has been shielded by something; the probing is being disturbed.”

Thinking of something, the doctor quickly added, “The equipment we brought is only medium-sized; the hospital floor has larger equipment. That probing method is more advanced, requiring a hover vehicle to be pushed to the window to connect it. Should we try that?”

    Xu Jin: “Sure.”

The results from the large instruments were the same as those from the medium-sized ones—there was no response.

Xu Jin couldn’t help but glance at Fei Chu. At this moment, Fei Chu didn’t dare use his mental power to probe and simply said, “I’ll use my mental power to feel it from his mental sea.”

However, Fei Chu was indeed overthinking it. As he connected with Shi Xing’s mental sea, he finally sensed a dense layer of mist. Puzzled, he mumbled something, and Fu Qing seemed to remember something and reminded Fei Chu that Shi Xing’s mental sea had a barrier-like mist that an SS-ranked imperial individual couldn’t surpass.

Fei Chu tried and somewhat broke down. “Are you sure it can’t be surpassed?”

He had Fu Qing try it. Fu Qing released his mental power and saw something different.

The mist that surrounded Shi Xing’s mental sea was different from what he had seen before. This time, it was almost tangible; it wasn’t just about entering; even touching it would cause a bounce-back.

Although they could not detect changes in Shi Xing’s mental sea, it was undeniable that some changes had occurred.

Fu Qing: “Before, only the prince and Yun Wu could thoroughly check the mental sea of the star. Now…”

Fei Chu frowned for a moment before quickly making a decision: “Then let’s first check something else. I remember you mentioned that since Yun Wu could do it, Er Ya should have no problem as well. In fact… let’s wait until Er Ya comes up.”

Xu Jin: “Right. If we can’t see it, then let’s check something else first.”

With unanimous agreement, the doctor nodded and began to conduct other checks.

Downstairs in the energy shielding room.

Er Ya’s mental power seeped in, and with her assistance, Chi Yao finally barely managed to control the mental sea.

At some unknown moment, Er Ya spoke. “It seems that the cracks in your mental sea are shrinking…”

After observing for a moment, Er Ya confirmed, “Shi Xing has absorbed the unresolved energy, and your mental sea is self-repairing. It might be uncomfortable for a while, but you have to hold on.”

Worried that Chi Yao would become anxious, Er Ya added, “I know you’re worried about Shi Xing, but if you don’t take care of yourself…”

Chi Yao interrupted her, cold sweat covering his forehead, “I know, I will stabilize myself before going out.”

    Er Ya finally felt relieved.

Afterward, they remained in the energy shielding room for an hour, with Er Ya’s healing mental power continuously merging to assist. During the latter half, the contract began to glow, while Chi Yao remained silent, his tightly furrowed brows and the cold sweat on his face indicating his discomfort.

Er Ya had no answer for this.

Beiman drew in too many excellent genes, and the entire empire had early on implemented embryonic in-vitro cultivation, so problematic genes would terminate automatically during development.

In other words, Chi Yao’s mental power was inherently an extraordinary existence on a genetic level.

The dominant strong genes expressed by Beiman and the extreme recessive genes not expressed by Blue Star humans (crossing with Blue Star humans results in the next generation’s genes being almost unexpressed) could, to some extent, be matched.

Therefore, as long as there was a basis for recovery, Chi Yao’s mental sea would begin to heal itself.

This was the situation they currently faced.

Shi Xing absorbed a strand of mental power, and this strand was rapidly shrinking under the influence of the three parties.

Initially, Er Ya was quite happy. This proved that as long as the energy at the bottom of Chi Yao’s mental sea could be removed, there was a possibility of complete repair.

But as the crack grew narrower, Er Ya gradually couldn’t smile anymore.

It was unimaginable how much Shi Xing had absorbed as she watched the almost disappearing crack.

And even though Chi Yao was fine, Shi Xing was still an immature Blue Star human; could he bear it?

It was unknown how much time passed when the contract finally dimmed, and Chi Yao’s mental sea calmed down, leaving only an extremely narrow seam where Shi Xing had touched. Confirming that Chi Yao was fine, Er Ya had no time to explain and immediately got up and left.

She went upstairs to check on Shi Xing.

As soon as she entered, everyone turned their gazes to her. Before they could ask, Er Ya quickly said, “Chi Yao is still downstairs; he’s fine. I’m here to check on Shi Xing.”

Xu Jin didn’t dare to go, urging Yan Changyue to check on Chi Yao downstairs.

Fei Chu then immediately pulled Er Ya and recounted Shi Xing’s condition.

Knowing everyone was anxious, Er Ya wasn’t angry and allowed Fei Chu to lead her to Shi Xing, explaining the situation as they walked.

After he finished, Er Ya summarized, “There are no other issues, and there’s no fever, just unconsciousness. It seems the mental sea has self-sealed?”

Beside them, Fu Qing nodded. “That’s right. We can’t perceive anything right now and suspect it’s due to incompatible mental powers. Why don’t you give it a try? The mental power of a Blue Star human won’t cause discomfort.”

Er Ya: “I’ll give it a try.”

She had entered Shi Xing’s mental sea before.

In fact, during this period, in order to better tailor her teaching, Er Ya checked Shi Xing’s mental sea every day, recording the daily changes. As she first touched the outer layer, she said, “The mist has thickened and become exclusive; I’m not sure I can enter.”

“I can’t perceive any energy fluctuations from the outside, indeed, as if it’s self-sealing.”

Er Ya slowly delved deeper with her mental power. Perhaps as Fu Qing mentioned, because she was a Blue Star human, initially, the mist resisted her, but as her mental power melded deeper, the mist turned friendlier, allowing her to enter.

    “I’m in.”

When Er Ya said this, everyone present breathed a sigh of relief.

    Er Ya continued.

Fei Chu saw something and patted Xu Jin’s shoulder, pointing at Er Ya’s temples.

Xu Jin, who usually observed meticulously, only then noticed that Er Ya was sweating profusely. He turned to his attendants beside him, giving a few instructions. As soon as Er Ya retracted her mental power and opened her eyes, someone brought her a warm towel to wipe her face.

Er Ya thanked them and promptly used it without pretensions.

Everyone watched her, waiting for her observations.

“The mental sea of Xing Xing…”

    Hesitant, Er Ya began.

After saying just a few words, Fei Chu interjected, “Is it fluctuating?”

Er Ya shook her head. “Not really; the overlapping frequency of the mental sea has indeed increased, but it hasn’t surpassed the normal range. Rather than saying it’s fluctuating, I would say…” After pondering for a while, she concluded, “It’s very active.”

The different structure of Shi Xing’s mental sea was something everyone present already knew about.

Er Ya had observed the central mental sea; there were no abnormalities in the surface or depth. The changes were in the outer shallow regions.

“Below is a hollow structure. Usually, when Shi Xing absorbs energy, there will be energy turbulence flowing inside. Today, they are exceptionally active.”

How active exactly? Normally, it would only see a few points of energy turbulence.

But today, as Er Ya’s sensing mental power dove deeper, the hollow area was lit up; on every supporting structure in the hollow zone, energy turbulence was swirling continuously.

Er Ya suspected this was triggered from the void below.

“So, what do you think the situation is?”

At some unknown time, Chi Yao, supported by Yan Changyue, stood at the doorway.

He had overheard all of Er Ya’s previous statements.

Xu Jin felt relieved when he didn’t sense any fluctuating mental power from Chi Yao, knowing this meant Er Ya had effectively handled the issues.

One attendant saw Chi Yao sweating on his forehead and neck hurriedly passed him a hot towel from the tray.

Chi Yao pushed it away, his gaze fixed on Er Ya, clearly wanting to ask for an outcome.

Er Ya: “Just in time, you came. Try to see if you can enter Shi Xing’s mental sea.”

Chi Yao furrowed his brows. “He’s currently…”

Er Ya: “His central mental sea is fine; he can withstand it. Come, I need to verify a question.”

To reassure everyone, Er Ya looked around. “Don’t worry, his mental sea is doing well right now. What is hindering us is not what you think is chaotic.”

Chi Yao tried, managing to enter part of it, but once he reached the middle layer, the resistance became quite significant, and he didn’t dare to force it.

After truly sensing it, Er Ya said: “No need to try anymore. Let’s pull back.”

Chi Yao and everyone else breathed a sigh of relief.

Er Ya lowered her gaze. “Let me think about it some more.”

    The room fell silent.

After a moment, Er Ya spoke: “First, I can definitively say it’s not that the mental sea is growing.”

Everyone knew what Shi Xing’s mental sea growth looked like.

She said this, and everyone nodded.

Er Ya: “Rather than being injured, I tend to think his mental sea is resisting.”

“The remaining energy level in your mental sea is too high. Although Shi Xing has absorbed it, it likely can’t be completely suppressed for a while.”

“This also relates to his level.”

Shi Xing’s mental power hadn’t yet grown to Chi Yao’s level.

He was still in the maturity period.

Chi Yao pressed his brows down. “So what should we do?”

Er Ya uttered a single word: “Wait.”

“Wait for his mental sea to completely suppress the other energy or for the other energy to break free.”

Chi Yao frowned, speaking in a low voice, “If it breaks free, what impact will it have on him?”

Er Ya smiled, a helpless smile.

She spread her hands. “This is the first time I’ve seen the level, structure of Shi Xing’s mental sea, and even this situation. Your Highness, you can’t predict it, so how do you expect me to know? Am I some sort of prophet?”

Chi Yao lowered his eyes, shadows crossing his brows, and said nothing.

Everyone in the room also fell silent.

Er Ya added, “Of course, as a doctor and currently the only one who can enter Shi Xing’s mental sea among our kin, I can certainly observe once every hour. If there’s any unexpected situation, we can think of a solution together, how about that?”

“At the very least, the mental sea of Blue Star humans can accept the healing of another Blue Star human.”

Chi Yao took a deep breath, an air of frustration lodged in his chest.

After a while, he nodded. “Then it’s settled.”

“Leave two medical staff next door to wait; the rest of the unrelated personnel, all go out.”
