GLIHBN Chapter 115
by VolareChapter 115: Opposite Dream
Su Qing was only staying in the country for a week before heading back to school, so Su Shi and Chi Ye took the little girl to the Airport.
This time, Su Qing didn’t cry and hug Su Shi like the last time she left. She even smiled and said to her brother, “I’ll be back at the end of the year.”
“If anything unhappy happens while you’re away, remember to tell your brother. You can tell me happy things too.” Su Shi felt sorry for his sister being alone in a foreign country, afraid she would be wronged.
“Don’t worry.”
To Su Qing, Su Shi was like a father figure.
It could be said that Chen Jingtian spent less than half the effort on her that Su Shi did.
Su Qing then said to Chi Ye, “Brother’s Wife, if my brother bullies you, remember to tell me.”
Su Shi felt like something was off when he heard that. Shouldn’t she usually say something like, “If you bully my brother, I won’t let you get away with it”?
Su Shi said, amused, “You’re taking sides before knowing the full story.”
Su Qing skipped around, “Brother is my own brother, and Brother’s Wife is also my own brother’s wife, so I’m not taking sides.”
Su Shi said indulgently, “Twisted logic.”
“Have a safe trip,” Chi Ye said.
Watching Su Qing go through security, Chi Ye put his arm around Su Shi’s shoulders, and Su Shi buried his head in Chi Ye’s neck.
He said in a muffled voice, “I’m not a good brother, leaving my sister alone.”
Chi Ye ruffled Su Shi’s hair, “You’re a good brother. The best brother I’ve ever seen.”
Su Shi took a while to recover before he finally calmed down. “Let’s go.”
Time passed quickly. Su Shi went to work, and Chi Ye went to school. Everything went on as it had before.
This semester, Chi Ye was even busier, having to juggle school and the company, so he didn’t have time for the computer club.
Chi Ye discussed with Su Shi about transferring Chi Xiangqin to a nursing home here in West Hangzhou.
Su Shi naturally agreed.
A few days later, Chi Ye settled Chi Xiangqin in the best nursing home in West Hangzhou.
The private room was luxurious, with two nurses dedicated to his care.
That day, Chi Ye brought Su Shi to see Chi Xiangqin.
Chi Xiangqin had lost a lot of weight. His cheeks were gaunt, and his clothes looked empty.
He sat in a wheelchair, but his spirits seemed good.
“Grandpa, I brought Su Shi to see you.”
Chi Xiangqin’s eyes moved, and he looked at Chi Ye, then fixed his gaze on Su Shi, pointing his finger. “Uh, uh, uh.”
He still couldn’t speak clearly, but from his eyes and movements, his mind was still clear.
Chi Ye asked the two nurses to go outside to inquire about Chi Xiangqin’s condition, leaving only Su Shi and Chi Xiangqin in the room.
Chi Xiangqin continued to “uh, uh, uh,” as if he had something to say.
Su Shi wasn’t familiar with Chi Xiangqin and didn’t have any good feelings about him after the way he had harmed him last time.
However, seeing someone who used to be so powerful reduced to this state, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of pity.
Su Shi took Chi Xiangqin’s withered hand and said, “Don’t worry, I will live well with Chi Ye, love him forever, and stay by his side.”
Chi Xiangqin’s lips moved, but he couldn’t say anything, but he calmed down.
After a while, Chi Ye returned to the ward and said to Su Shi, “Let’s go back.”
“Okay.”
But Chi Xiangqin suddenly became agitated, “Uh, uh, uh,” incessantly.
He tried to get out of the wheelchair, but the female nurse stopped him. “Old man, Mr. Chi will come to see you next time.”
Tears welled up in Chi Xiangqin’s eyes as he stared at the disappearing figure walking out.
Su Shi looked back twice before turning his head back. He tugged at Chi Ye and said with some pity, “Chi Ye, your grandfather, he’s quite pitiful too.”
Having already reached the corridor, Chi Ye stopped and looked at him. “Do you think I’m heartless?”
Su Shi shook his head. “No, everything has a cause and effect.”
That night, Chi Ye saw the old Chi Xiangqin in his dream.
Little Chi Ye had a high fever, and his throat was so dry and hoarse that it was difficult to speak.
Old Li put a fever patch on him and cradled him to sleep.
“Young master, be good, go to sleep, and you’ll feel better when you wake up.”
“Where’s Grandpa?” Little Chi Ye asked in a hoarse voice.
“The master is busy with work. He’ll come to see you when he’s done.”
Little Chi Ye’s body was burning hot. He took Old Li’s hand and asked, “Does Grandpa not like me?”
Old Li gently and patiently told Little Chi Ye, “How could that be? Young master is the master’s only eldest grandson. How could he not like you?”
“Then why is he always so fierce with me? And he doesn’t come to see me when I’m sick.”
“Um,” Old Li said with some difficulty, “The master is busy with work. He has such a big company to manage.”
Little Chi Ye slowly fell asleep and felt someone sitting beside him in his dream, touching his forehead with their hand.
He heard Chi Xiangqin’s voice, “If the fever doesn’t break, send him to the hospital.”
Then Old Li’s voice, “Okay.”
Little Chi Ye slept for a while and woke up, opening his eyes to see Chi Xiangqin watching over him. He happily called out, “Grandpa.”
“Hey,Bǎobèi.”
Little Chi Ye threw himself into Chi Xiangqin’s arms, and Chi Xiangqin hugged him, patting his head. “Good boy, do you still feel uncomfortable?”
“I don’t feel uncomfortable anymore. Old Li didn’t lie to me. I felt better after a sleep, and I even saw Grandpa.”
Little Chi Ye said excitedly.
Chi Xiangqin pinched his little face. “That’s great.”
The dream then shifted to another scene.
In the basement, it was pitch black. Little Chi Ye was trembling with fear, hugging his legs and squatting in the corner.
The servant had locked him in this dark place as revenge against Chi Xiangqin.
There was no water, no food, and not even fresh air.
Little Chi Ye imagined that Grandpa would soon realize he was missing and come to find him quickly.
Sure enough, after a while, he really heard movement outside.
“Chi Ye, Chi Ye.” It was Grandpa’s voice.
Little Chi Ye excitedly stood up and banged on the iron door with all his might, shouting, “Grandpa, Grandpa, I’m here.”
Chi Xiangqin’s voice grew closer and closer. “Little Ye, Little Ye, are you inside?”
“Grandpa, hurry and save me.”
Then he heard Chi Xiangqin order, “Open the lock quickly.”
Soon, the iron door opened from the outside, and Little Chi Ye threw himself into Chi Xiangqin’s arms. “Grandpa, you found me so quickly.”
Chi Xiangqin naturally picked Chi Ye up in his arms. “Silly child, I realized you weren’t here as soon as I got home and came to find you right away.”
Chi Xiangqin carried Chi Ye, step by step, out of the dark basement and into the light.
Chi Ye woke up from his dream at this point.
He suddenly sat up in bed.
He woke up Su Shi, who was next to him. Su Shi sat up as well. “What’s wrong? Did you have a nightmare?”
Chi Ye patted Su Shi, pulling him back down to sleep. “I had a dream, but it wasn’t a nightmare.”
Su Shi lay on Chi Ye’s shoulder. “What kind of dream was it that scared you?”
Chi Ye sighed deeply. “It was the opposite of reality. A beautiful dream.”
