GLIHBN Chapter 82
by VolareChapter 82: Just Consider It Being Bitten by a Dog
Chi Ye was extremely restrained, as if he were being subjected to torture, his entire body aching as if pricked by needles. The camera behind him was the instrument of torture.
“What did you say just now?”
Su Shi repeated his question, then said, “Is it true?”
Chi Ye ran a hand through his hair, as if finally making up his mind, and said, “Yes, it’s true.”
Su Shi swayed slightly, as if something had been drained from him, leaving him unable to stand. “I’m just a trophy in your competition with Xu Chongming?”
Chi Ye closed his eyes. “Yes, since I was a kid, whatever Xu Chongming had, I wanted too.”
Su Shi continued to repeat each question, “So, you weren’t serious about me?”
Chi Ye remained silent.
The silence was like a knife, carving at Su Shi’s heart.
“Then when do you plan to break up with me?”
Stop talking, every word Su Shi said made Chi Ye feel unbearable.
But Chi Xiangqin wanted to hear it, he had to say it.
“After I’ve had enough.”
Su Shi’s pupils constricted, never imagining that Chi Ye could be so hurtful one day.
He didn’t want to cry, but his nose felt so sore, what could he do?
Su Shi raised the ring on his hand, as if to prove something. “You bought this ring four years ago, and it has our initials on it. You’re telling me you weren’t serious about me?”
Su Shi had actually discovered the secret of the ring. Chi Ye suppressed his heartache and said with difficulty, “I bought the ring on a whim because I thought it was pretty. As for the letters, I just engraved them randomly. Saying they were our initials was just to make you happy.”
Su Shi laughed through his tears, his laughter so heartbroken. He wanted to take the ring off, but failed at first. He used force, turning his middle finger red before finally managing to remove it, and then threw it hard at Chi Ye. “Here, take it back.”
Chi Ye didn’t catch it, letting the ring roll to the ground, making a faint sound, as if it were a slap in Su Shi’s face.
Chi Ye lowered his head. “I’m sorry.”
Su Shi sniffled, his nose stinging, and said coldly, “It’s okay, I’ll just consider it being bitten by a dog for a few months.”
Chi Ye’s throat tightened with discomfort. “If you’re angry, you can slap me a few times to vent your anger, like you slapped Xu Chongming before.”
Su Shi glared at Chi Ye, his eyes full of anger. “You’re not worthy.”
After saying that, Su Shi turned and left, his steps very fast.
Chi Ye subconsciously wanted to chase after him, but Chi Xiangqin’s phone call interrupted the thought.
Chi Xiangqin said, “Well done. Come home early for the holidays.”
After hanging up the phone, in a place where the camera couldn’t see, Chi Ye’s eyes were frighteningly sinister.
He had never, ever hated Chi Xiangqin more than he did now, not even when he learned that his parents had likely died because of Chi Xiangqin.
Su Shi was his treasure, hurting Su Shi hurt him a hundred times more than hurting himself.
The last time Su Shi chatted with Su Qing, he told her that he had a new relationship. Su Qing was very excited and clamored to meet her brother’s boyfriend.
Su Shi promised to let her meet him during the next video call.
But so much time had passed, and Su Qing still hadn’t gotten to see the legendary new “sister-in-law,” and couldn’t help but urge Su Shi.
Su Shi could only regretfully tell Su Qing that it wasn’t convenient right now.
Su Qing was young but clever, and keenly sensed something unusual, asking Su Shi what was wrong.
Su Shi avoided the topic and could only appease Su Qing, saying that there would be a chance in the future, and he would let them meet then.
After chatting with Su Qing, Su Shi began to clean up the broken glass and ginkgo leaves from the previous night.
Throwing all these things into the trash can, as if discarding his bad mood, Su Shi became very calm.
The next day, Su Shi regained his composure and went to work and got off work like nothing had happened, met with friends, saw clients, and even went to the gym and signed up for a card and found a personal trainer.
He hadn’t been disciplined enough recently and had gained a little weight from Chi Ye’s care. Su Shi wanted to turn this fat into muscle.
His attitude towards life could never change; the more things went wrong, the better he had to live.
The personal trainer was carefully selected by Su Shi, with good looks, a good figure, and a good reputation.
Su Shi mainly wanted to train his abs, and the personal trainer tailored a plan for him to address this.
Sometimes, when doing the exercises, there would inevitably be some contact with the personal trainer. Every time this happened, Su Shi always felt like there were eyes staring at him, but when he turned his head to see who it was, he found nothing.
The gym wasn’t far from home, about a fifteen-minute walk. Su Shi didn’t drive. After working out, doing a set of stretching exercises and then walking back would be perfect.
Su Shi walked down the street with a sports bag on his back, the wind whistling against his face.
It had rained during the day, and the ground was still wet. The road was full of traffic, but there weren’t many pedestrians on the sidewalk.
So, when a footstep appeared behind him, following at a steady pace, Su Shi noticed it immediately.
Su Shi squatted down, pretending to tie his shoelaces, taking the opportunity to glance back, but he didn’t see any suspicious figures.
This road wasn’t secluded, so Su Shi wasn’t worried about danger. Soon he reached the neighborhood, and the person behind him didn’t continue to follow.
The second time Su Shi came out of the gym, he encountered the same situation.
Su Shi was absolutely certain that someone was following and watching him. And who that person was, there was no need to guess.
Since they liked to follow so much, then let them follow.
This day, the gym had a recharge promotion, and Su Shi signed up for another thirty lessons in one go. As a thank you, the personal trainer invited Su Shi to dinner that night.
Su Shi agreed without thinking.
The two of them came out of the gym together after class, and took the personal trainer’s car to a roadside stall for barbecue.
The personal trainer was afraid that Su Shi would be disgusted, and explained, “Don’t look at the decoration of this restaurant, the taste is amazing. I used to come here often when I was in college.”
The fact that the restaurant was almost full corroborated the personal trainer’s statement. Su Shi nodded, “Yeah, the smell alone makes it seem delicious.”
After the two sat down, they quickly ordered their dishes.
Just as the dishes were brought to the table, the personal trainer received a call. He glanced at Su Shi and told the person on the other end of the phone that he was out eating late-night snacks and couldn’t get away.
After hanging up the phone, the personal trainer looked at Su Shi with a troubled expression.
Su Shi could tell that the other person had something to do, so he asked what was wrong.
It turned out that the gym’s front desk had called the personal trainer to return because a new student had specifically asked for him to sign up for lessons, and it was two hundred lessons. This was a big deal.
The personal trainer was embarrassed to leave Su Shi after the dishes had been served, but he didn’t want to miss out on the big deal. The new student insisted that he return before they would pay.
Su Shi felt it was okay, and he could understand, telling the personal trainer that it was okay and to go quickly, as earning money was important.
The personal trainer repeatedly apologized and went to settle the bill first.
After Su Shi finished eating the barbecue, he came out of the restaurant. It was quite far from home, but he didn’t want to take a taxi, wanting to walk and digest his food.
He opened the phone map, glanced at the route, memorized it in his mind, and walked towards home.
Without exception, this time, someone was following him again, not too close and not too far.
Su Shi sneered, thinking: Besides stalking and monitoring, what else can you do?
