    Chapter 82: Giving Orders

Jin Mo stood up, intending to hop on one leg to the sink and help Jin Baiyan.

He had just gotten up when Jin Baiyan caught him out of the corner of his eye.

    Jin Baiyan strode over.

“Don’t move!” he said, pushing Jin Mo back onto the chair. “Be good!”

Jin Mo sat down, wrapped his arms around Jin Baiyan’s waist, and rubbed his head against his lower abdomen.

Jin Baiyan reacted as if he’d been electrocuted, quickly pushing Jin Mo away and vigorously ruffling his hair.

Xiao Feiwu chuckled twice, while Xu Jiahao looked like he couldn’t bear to watch.

“I’ll help!” Xiao Feiwu said, picking up the vegetables and heading to the sink, ready to start.

Jin Baiyan frowned, seemingly a little disgusted.

Taking advantage of Jin Baiyan’s turn, Jin Mo quickly stood up, hopping twice to move to a chair closer to the sink.

By the time Jin Baiyan noticed, he was already sitting down, winking at Jin Baiyan.

Jin Baiyan took a deep breath and gave Jin Mo a “you’re not being good” look.

Jin Mo giggled twice and began directing Xiao Feiwu’s work.

“First, put the okra in this big basin and soak it in a little salt!”

Xiao Feiwu took a basin, puzzled. “Why soak it in salt?”

    “To sterilize it, duh!”

    “Oh!”

“Then add some of that starch from the bag and rub hard, so the fuzz on top can be washed off!”

Xiao Feiwu picked up a bag of cornstarch from the counter and poured a little into the bowl.

“Not enough, add a little more! Stop, stop, stop! Oh no, that’s too much, it’s almost like kneading dough!” Jin Mo said helplessly. “Forget it, add some more water!”

Xiao Feiwu stared at his hands covered in white powder, looking bewildered.

Xu Jiahao really couldn’t watch any longer, so he walked over and pushed Xiao Feiwu aside.

“You’re so clumsy, by the time you’re done, when will we eat?”

With that, he took the basin from Xiao Feiwu’s hands, added some water, and began to rub.

Jin Baiyan finished slicing the char siu, arranged it on a plate, and put it in the steamer. Seeing the chaos beside him, he smiled and walked over to Jin Mo.

Jin Mo naturally took Jin Baiyan’s hand and pointed at Xiao Feiwu, complaining, “This idiot, washing okra, poured in half a bag of starch! I’m speechless!”

Xiao Feiwu scratched his head, laughing sheepishly. “I don’t have any experience! I’ll know next time!”

As he spoke, he watched Xu Jiahao working deftly, his face full of smiles.

Xu Jiahao had been doing chores since he was a child, so he was quick and efficient. In less than ten minutes, everything that needed to be washed was washed, and everything that needed to be cut was cut, waiting for Jin Baiyan to start cooking.

Jin Baiyan moved his hand, indicating that Jin Mo could let go of him.

Jin Mo pouted, reluctant to release Jin Baiyan’s hand.

“Hey, stop holding on, it’s already eleven-thirty! If you don’t start cooking, we’ll starve to death!” Xiao Feiwu walked over and yanked Jin Mo’s arm away.

Jin Mo glared fiercely at Xiao Feiwu.

“You two can hold hands after you eat, okay! When the time comes, I’ll close the door for you, and no one is allowed to disturb you. You two can do whatever you want!”

After his outburst, Xiao Feiwu quickly retreated, speaking as he backed away.

Jin Baiyan raised an eyebrow and glanced at him.

Xiao Feiwu quickly shut his mouth and stood against the wall.

Xu Jiahao’s forehead was covered in black lines. For the rough and boisterous Xiao Feiwu to become so submissive showed how badly Jin Baiyan had tormented him as a child.

While Jin Baiyan was cooking, Xiao Feiwu and Xu Jiahao began preparing their own bowls and chopsticks.

Originally, there was only one set of tableware in the kitchen, then it became two sets. Now, with two more sets added, the sterilizing cabinet was almost full.

There weren’t enough stools either, so the two of them automatically went outside to bring in two more.

The seating arrangement was a bit of a problem.

The dining table was against the wall, seating four people, but how to arrange it was the question.

After thinking about it, the two decided to pull the table away from the wall.

    No sooner said than done.

Soon, the layout of the small dining room was disrupted.

Jin Baiyan finished stir-frying one dish and turned around to see that the table, originally against the wall, had been pulled away and rotated ninety degrees.

Xu Jiahao and Xiao Feiwu were already sitting in a row, while Jin Mo was still sitting in his original spot against the wall, glaring at the two who had ignored him.

Jin Baiyan put the dish on the table and walked over to Jin Mo with a smile.

    Jin Mo pouted.

“Those two are too much! They pulled the table away and didn’t even care about me!”

Xiao Feiwu turned his head away, trying to suppress his laughter.

Xu Jiahao laughed loudly and replied, “Helping you is Jin Baiyan’s privilege; we don’t have that right!”

Jin Mo hugged Jin Baiyan’s waist and swayed his head.

    “Jin Baiyan, hug!”

Jin Baiyan’s chest trembled a few times. He reached out, pulled Jin Mo up, let him lean against his chest, and supported his buttocks with his hand, carrying him upright to the dining table.

Xu Jiahao had already stood up with foresight and moved Jin Mo’s chair over.

After settling Jin Mo, Jin Baiyan returned to the stove and started working.

The small kitchen was filled with lively sounds, while Jin Mother in the single room on the second floor felt uneasy.

Originally, after listening to Pei Qingqing, she thought that Jin Baiyan had lost his memory and didn’t remember the past, so naturally he wouldn’t remember Jin Mo either.

But she didn’t expect that even with amnesia, Jin Baiyan’s feelings for Jin Mo were still unique.

His gaze still only fell on Jin Mo.

Over the years, Jin Mother had often wondered if she hadn’t brought Jin Mo out of the orphanage, her son might have been able to live like a normal person, getting married and having children.

But it was also possible that he would have remained trapped in his own world forever!

Would their mother-son relationship still be as lukewarm as it was now?

Three years ago, Jin Baiyan would still call her “Mom.” But ever since she and Jin Huaiyang schemed against Jin Mo, forcing Jin Baiyan to get engaged, almost costing Jin Mo his life, Jin Baiyan had never called her “Mom” again.

She had originally wanted to take this opportunity to ease their relationship, but now it seemed she had messed things up again!

She sighed and dialed Jin Huaiyang’s phone.

She told Jin Huaiyang everything that had happened today.

Jin Huaiyang was silent for a long time on the other end of the phone.

“Forget it, don’t get involved anymore. Don’t really annoy Jin Mo!”

“Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking too!”

“Try to get Qingqing to leave!”

“She’s already here. How could she listen to me and go back! Ah, I was a fool to be swayed by her!” Jin Mother rubbed her head, sighing, feeling very regretful.

Jin Huaiyang offered some more words of comfort.

After hanging up the phone, Jin Mother looked at the time. It was almost twelve o’clock, and she was quite hungry. She decided to go downstairs and see if there was anything to eat.

She had just stood up when she heard a knock on the door.

“Auntie, are we going out to eat?” Pei Qingqing’s voice came from outside the door.

Jin Mother’s head hurt even more.

She walked over and opened the door.

“Auntie, you don’t look too good. Are you feeling unwell?” Pei Qingqing grabbed Jin Mother’s arm, asking with some concern.

Jin Mother shook her head. “I’m a little tired after a long drive!”

“Then do you want to rest for a bit?” Ruan Ying thought for a moment. “Qingqing and I will go out and see if there’s anything to eat and bring some back for you.”

Jin Mother thought for a moment and nodded.

    “Then thank you!”

Pei Qingqing helped Jin Mother back to the sofa and walked out with Ruan Ying.

Passing by the front desk, they saw Xiaolian and asked her about places to eat nearby.

Xiaolian naturally recommended Uncle Li’s farm-to-table restaurant again.

As they were leaving, Pei Qingqing casually asked, “Xiaolian, does your boss eat there too?”

    Xiaolian quickly shook her head.

“No, our boss always cooks his own meals. Jin-ge and the others are still eating in the small kitchen!”

Hearing this, the two were taken aback and looked in the direction of the small kitchen at the same time.

Just then, Xiao Feiwu’s loud voice came from inside.

“Leave me a piece of meat! I haven’t had many pieces yet!”

Pei Qingqing snorted and pulled Ruan Ying out.

After walking a few steps, Ruan Ying asked with a puzzled expression, “Is Jin Baiyan’s relationship with his mother that bad? He doesn’t even eat with her?”

Pei Qingqing didn’t say anything, her face somewhat gloomy.

It seemed that Jin Mother would not be able to say anything!
