Chapter 59: Li Mengyao Appears for the Second Time

It was a little past ten o’clock when Jin Mo’s IV drip finished. Bai Xian stood up.

“Bai Xian!” Jin Mo knew that Bai Xian was probably going home to cook for him and felt a little reluctant to part.

Bai Xian stared at Jin Mo’s hand gripping his, then looked up to meet Jin Mo’s eyes.

    “Cook,” he said softly.

Over the past couple of days, the frequency of his speech had increased significantly, and his voice was no longer as hoarse as it had been at the beginning. It was gradually approaching Jin Baiyan’s tone.

“I know!” Jin Mo pouted. “I don’t want to stay in the hospital, I want to go home!”

Bai Xian couldn’t help but chuckle.

    He patted Jin Mo’s arm.

    “One hour!”

Jin Mo exclaimed, “Ah? Isn’t that too rushed!”

    Bai Xian shook his head.

“Okay then!” Jin Mo released his hand, adding, “Don’t rush too much, be careful not to burn yourself while cooking!”

The corners of Bai Xian’s mouth curved up slightly. He nodded, then turned and walked out.

Jin Mo felt as if his heart had gone with Bai Xian!

“Oh dear, he’s only just left, and you’re already losing your mind! Tsk, tsk, tsk!”

Xu Jiahao walked in from outside, seeing Jin Mo looking so love-struck, he couldn’t help but tease him.

Jin Mo sighed, “In the past, when my brother cooked, I would always assist him. Otherwise, he would never do it. Now, without my help, he’s actually getting used to it!”

Xu Jiahao moved closer, a sly smile on his face.

“Hey, Jin Mo, are you planning a direct assault? Or a roundabout strategy?”

Jin Mo was blank, not understanding what Xu Jiahao meant.

Xu Jiahao gave Jin Mo a disdainful look.

“What I mean is, are you going to directly reveal your feelings to Bai Xian and keep flirting with him until he falls in love with you too? Or are you going to hide your cards and secretly tease him until he falls in love with you, and then reveal your hand?”

Jin Mo’s brain was completely muddled by Xu Jiahao’s words!

“Is there a difference?” he frowned, thinking for a long time before asking, puzzled.

“Of course, there’s a difference!” Xu Jiahao exclaimed.

“What difference? Isn’t it all about teasing first, then achieving the goal!”

“Hey, you Stupid!” Xu Jiahao tapped Jin Mo’s head with his finger. “Bai Xian is a blank sheet of paper. If you launch a direct assault, what if that paper is too thin, and you tear it?”

Jin Mo thought about it and nodded. “I’ve thought about this problem before, so you mean a roundabout strategy then?”

Xu Jiahao shook his finger. “No, no, no. There are drawbacks to a roundabout strategy too.”

    “What drawbacks!”

“If you’re being secretive, there’s no guarantee Bai Xian won’t be secretive too. In the end, no one reveals their cards, and what’s the point? Besides, from my observation, the reason you and your brother got to where you are today is because you were both so secretive. Do you want to repeat that mistake again?”

    Jin Mo slapped his thigh.

“That’s right! How could I forget about that! This time, I have to take the initiative and let Bai Xian know that I like him at all times!”

Xu Jiahao shook his finger vigorously again. “No, no, no. Haste makes waste. You have to be careful and not be too hasty, tearing the blank paper. But you can’t be too slow either, letting other colors stain the blank paper! After all, Bai Xian at this moment might not even know whether he likes men or women!”

Jin Mo shuddered upon hearing this.

“Oh my god, don’t scare me! My little heart has been tormented by my brother’s actions to the point of near collapse. A few more scares from you, and it’ll stop beating!”

    Xu Jiahao chuckled.

“I’m right, aren’t I! A blank sheet of paper, maybe so pure and abstinent that he hasn’t even watched adult films. Then it’s hard to say what kind of person he likes!”

Jin Mo thought about it and felt that Xu Jiahao’s words made a lot of sense, nodding repeatedly.

“That’s right, that’s right. The reason my brother likes me is probably because I kept pestering him. Whenever I saw Pei Qingqing trying to talk to my brother, I would cling to him, preventing them from talking to each other. Otherwise, my brother might have fallen for Pei Qingqing!”

Jin Mo felt a lingering fear just thinking about it.

Although Pei Qingqing’s personality was a bit overbearing, she was really beautiful, knew how to act gentle, and was devoted to Jin Baiyan.

If it hadn’t been for him, his brother would probably have gotten on Pei Qingqing’s ship!

Seeing Jin Mo, under the guidance of someone two years older with a little bit of experience, looking like he had suddenly seen the light, Xu Jiahao felt that he had done a great deed of immeasurable merit.

“You think about it slowly, I’m going to find Xiao Feiwu!” Xu Jiahao said, leaving those words behind before heading out.

“What are you looking for him for?” Jin Mo raised himself up and asked loudly.

“Afraid he’ll buy some dishes I don’t like!” Xu Jiahao said, and then disappeared.

Jin Mo plopped back onto the bed and began to ponder Xu Jiahao’s words.

Counting carefully, Bai Xian had only about twenty days of memory since waking up. He could indeed be considered a blank sheet of paper.

Before meeting him, he had always worn a mask, living in seclusion. The people around him had never seen him, which showed how simple his life was.

Although he was autistic, isolated from people, as Xu Jiahao said, what if someone like him who kept pestering him came along? Maybe they would leave other colors on Bai Xian’s blank paper!

He couldn’t accept it even thinking about it!

Whether it was his brother or Bai Xian, they could only have the marks of him, Jin Mo!

    Everyone else, stay away!

Jin Mo clenched his fists secretly!

“Brother Jin!” Another female voice pulled Jin Mo from his thoughts.

Jin Mo snapped back to reality and turned his head to see that it was Li Mengyao, the girl with the round face and ponytail, again.

“Hi!” Jin Mo greeted somewhat unenthusiastically, then looked towards the door.

He wondered when Xiao Feiwu and Xu Jiahao would be back!

“There’s no one else, it’s just me!” Li Mengyao, seeing Jin Mo looking towards the door, thought he was looking for her classmate.

Jin Mo frowned. “I was wondering where my brothers went.”

“Oh, they’re waiting for the dishes at my house!” Li Mengyao replied with a smile.

Saying that, she raised the thermos bottle in her hand.

“My dad asked me to bring this over for you!”

Li Mengyao’s voice was very crisp, with the straightforwardness of a rural girl.

Jin Mo didn’t dislike her, but her enthusiasm made him uncomfortable.

“No need! Bai Xian will cook for me!” Jin Mo said politely. “It’s always a bother to Uncle Li, and I feel a bit embarrassed!”

“Hehe, it’s no trouble, it’s just a side trip!” the girl said with a smile, then looked at the doorway.

“That, Brother Jin, actually… I just wanted to tell you that I like you. I’ve liked you ever since you first came to my house for dinner!”

Jin Mo’s mouth was wide open! He looked utterly dumbfounded.

At the entrance of the ward, Bai Xian, who had just arrived with the meal container, paused in his steps upon hearing the confession inside the ward. His expression darkened, and a inexplicable surge of anger welled up in his heart.

Seeing the stunned expression on Jin Mo’s face, Li Mengyao took a deep breath.

She hadn’t originally planned to confess to Jin Mo today, but seeing that Jin Mo was alone in the ward was a godsend.

Normally, Jin Mo never appeared alone. Asking others to leave so she could confess would have made her even more embarrassed.

Jin Mo, on the other hand, was completely bewildered by the girl’s confession and naturally didn’t notice the small bit of white clothing visible at the ward door.
