Chapter 39: Heading to the Library

The owner of the greenhouse was surnamed Cai, a native of the mountains, very sturdy.

He took the photo Jin Mo handed him and looked at it carefully.

    “Never seen him, but…”

Hearing the first part, Jin Mo’s heart sank, but the last two words made his heart rise again.

    “But what?” Xu Jiahao pressed.

“But these eyes, I seem to have seen them somewhere.” Boss Cai said, scrutinizing the photo again.

Finally, he shook his head and returned the photo to Jin Mo.

“I definitely haven’t seen this person before. Someone as handsome as him, once you’ve seen him, you can’t possibly forget.”

Jin Mo was not willing to give up. “Boss, you said you’ve seen these eyes before. Can you think again, where did you see them?”

Boss Cai smiled, the flesh on his face forming a pile.

“Where else could I have seen them? Naturally, right here! I’m here from morning till night!”

Jin Mo wanted to continue pressing, but Xu Jiahao pulled him back.

“Boss, let’s add each other as friends. If you have any news, please let us know. Okay?” Xu Jiahao took out his phone and looked at Boss Cai with a smile.

    Boss Cai was also straightforward.

    “Sure!”

After adding each other as friends, they exchanged a few polite words, and Boss Cai began to busy himself weighing and calculating payments for customers.

Jin Mo and Xu Jiahao exchanged a few words with Uncle Li and prepared to continue moving forward.

Uncle Li suddenly called out, “Young men, there’s a library up in the mountain, and a teahouse too. Would you like to go up and take a look?”

Uncle Li said, pointing to a building on the hillside.

“Thank you, Uncle Li, we’ll head over right away!”

Uncle Li waved his hand, indicating that he was welcome.

The two of them walked two or three hundred meters along the mountain path and found the entrance to go up the mountain.

The entrance was actually not far from Slow Residence.

“We went around in a circle and came back!” Jin Mo said, pointing to Slow Residence not far away.

Xu Jiahao leaned to the side, dodging the already somewhat scorching sunlight.

“We have to speed up, it’ll be too hot in a while, we might get heatstroke!”

Jin Mo was also unbearably hot, wiping sweat while taking out his phone.

“I need to remind Xiao Feiwu and the others to be careful of the heat!”

After sending the message, the two of them quickened their pace and headed towards the library on the hillside.

Half an hour later, the two of them stood in front of the library.

A large “Gui Wu Library” sign stood at the entrance, next to a “Sister Ran’s Coffee Shop”.

    “Ouch, I’m dying of heat!”

Xu Jiahao howled and rushed towards the coffee shop next to the library.

    Jin Mo followed closely behind.

As soon as they entered the coffee shop, a wave of coolness swept over them.

The two of them leaned over with their hands on their thighs, faces flushed, panting heavily.

“Welcome!” A woman in her thirties smiled and called out to them, “Would you like to sit on the bench over there for a while?”

Jin Mo said “Thank you!” while panting.

Xu Jiahao sat on the bench, looking like he was about to collapse.

The auntie didn’t rush them and continued with her own work.

Five minutes later, the two of them recovered.

“Auntie, a cup of coconut jelly milk tea, iced!” After ordering his own, Xu Jiahao nudged Jin Mo, “What about you?”

Jin Mo looked up at the menu board above the bar.

“I want a cup of grass jelly, also iced!”

“Alright!” The auntie responded briskly and started to get busy.

Although it was called a coffee shop, it was actually just a farmhouse store.

“Auntie, is it just you running this place?” Jin Mo leaned on the bar table, watching the auntie’s nimble movements, and asked casually.

“Yes, just me!” The auntie said while working, “I used to be a genuine villager. Two years ago, the government said they wanted to turn this place into the most beautiful village and started all sorts of renovations.”

“Next to my house was a tobacco curing room! With wood, tiles, bricks, glass, and steel, it was transformed into the current library!”

“I thought, if you’re going to read, you have to drink something, eat something. After thinking about it, I made up my mind and transformed my house into this Sister Ran’s Coffee Shop.”

“For this, I even went to the city for a six-month training course!”

Auntie Ran said, handing over the finished coconut jelly milk tea.

“Is business good?” Jin Mo took the milk tea and handed it to Xu Jiahao, who was playing with his phone.

“Not bad, at least I don’t have to pay rent, and everything I earn is my own! The income is much better than before! The work is also easier!”

Auntie Ran said with a smile, “There’s a university town in the village, which has brought in a lot of professionals. They come to the library to read when they have time, and they always order some drinks and coffee, which is also taking care of my business!”

Jin Mo looked through the glass door of the coffee shop at the library behind.

There weren’t many people, only ten or so scattered around, blurry and unclear.

After the auntie handed over the grass jelly milk tea he had ordered, he took out Jin Baiyan’s photo.

“Auntie Ran, can you help me see if you’ve ever seen this person?”

Auntie Ran made a sound of surprise, took the photo, looked at it against the light, and shook her head.

“Never seen him!” Then she handed the photo to Jin Mo, “Are you looking for him?”

Jin Mo nodded, hiding the disappointment on his face.

“Yes, he’s my brother. He ran away from home. I figured he might have come here, so I came to look for him!”

Auntie Ran was stunned for a moment, then laughed.

“Your brother is so old, and he’s still so rebellious! Just like my son, always running into the mountains!”

    Jin Mo laughed along.

Xu Jiahao had been arguing with Xiao Feiwu the whole time and hadn’t heard their conversation at all. He was confused when he heard the laughter.

    “What’s wrong?”

Jin Mo glared at him. The boss had finished her work, but the employee hadn’t gotten into the swing of things yet, he should have his salary docked.

Xu Jiahao pouted, took a sip of his milk tea, and put his arm around Jin Mo’s shoulder.

“I was just arguing with Xiao Feiwu.”

    “Why?”

“He said he and Xiao Ping had already run to almost ten shops without any results, and they suspected your clue was wrong?”

Jin Mo raised his eyebrows. He couldn’t really blame Xiao Feiwu for suspecting, even he himself had doubts.

In the past, he would never have doubted his own judgment, but since Jin Baiyan disappeared, he often doubted his judgment!

“I told him, impossible! He said why? I said, Jin Mo smelled his brother’s scent! Hehe! Xiao Feiwu was either angered by me or shocked by you, and he hasn’t responded for several minutes!”

Xu Jiahao said, pointing at his phone and laughing.

Jin Mo didn’t know what Xiao Feiwu’s situation was, but he was really angered, and he pushed Xu Jiahao’s arm away.

“Don’t be so touchy-feely, a big man like you. Be careful my brother sees you and skins you!” Jin Mo glared at Xu Jiahao, saying fiercely.

Xu Jiahao blinked and nodded vigorously.

“You’re right, with your brother’s possessiveness, if he saw me with my arm around you, he might really skin me alive! Thanks for the reminder!”

Jin Mo “hmmphed” and turned to look at the auntie.

“Auntie Ran, let’s add each other as friends. If you have any news about my brother, please let me know!” Jin Mo said to the auntie with a smile.

“Sure!” Auntie Ran was very straightforward and took out her phone.

After adding each other as friends, Jin Mo immediately sent the auntie a red envelope.

    Auntie Ran was obviously surprised.

“Don’t do that, I haven’t helped with anything, how can I accept a red envelope!”

“Auntie Ran, please accept it! This is a red envelope for asking for information, everyone gets one!” Xu Jiahao said, handing his phone to the auntie to see, “As long as we ask for information, we’ll send a red envelope to show our gratitude!”

Auntie Ran took a look and saw that it was true, so she didn’t refuse anymore, just saying thank you repeatedly.

The two of them waved to her and walked straight towards the door.
