Chapter 36: Who Is That Person

Jin Baiyan walked under the night sky, his mind somewhat blank.

He had originally wanted to go downstairs to get a bottle of water, but he stopped at the stairwell.

Guests had arrived at the bar, and their voices carried up to his ears.

His usually calm mind was stunned for a moment!

His heart even seemed to skip a beat.

    That voice was so familiar!

So familiar that it made his soul tremble, but standing at the stairwell, looking at the person whose voice and figure were both familiar, he couldn’t remember who he was!

    Who was he?

Someone he knew in the past?

    Jin Baiyan didn’t know!

Because he had no past memories.

When he woke up, he was in a sanatorium.

His ID card was on the table, with the address in this Xinxing Village.

A note said that he was the owner of this Slow Residence, and had lost his memory due to an accident.

He wasn’t surprised, nor did he feel lost; instead, he calmly came here.

He didn’t like interacting with people, nor did he like being stared at. He put on a mask, isolating himself from the outside world.

Seeing that person leave with several others, he admitted he was a little flustered. He stood at the stairwell, hesitating for a long time, but still couldn’t help but follow.

Standing under a banyan tree, he tried to hide his figure, his eyes fixed on the people behind the glass window not far away.

He was afraid that if he blinked, the person in front of him would disappear!

Jin Baiyan felt that he was sick!

He was actually fixated on a stranger, a strange man!

The person across from him was smiling happily, his face full of the joy that he envied.

Every eyebrow, every eye, every smile, captivated him!

A dozen meters away, Jin Mo was laughing heartily.

The only annoying thing was that Xiao Feiwu kept staring at him, not letting him eat this or that.

He could only keep devouring the stewed egg on the table.

“Boss, do you have delivery service here?” Xu Jiahao asked, while inquiring with Uncle Li, the owner who was serving the food.

“Yes, yes, yes!” Uncle Li was in his fifties and looked like an honest farmer.

“Okay, give me a business card. We’re staying at the Slow Residence up ahead.” Xu Jiahao pushed the stir-fried bamboo shoots with pork towards the middle of the table.

“Alright!” Uncle Li happily pulled out a few business cards from his pocket and distributed them to everyone.

Jin Mo reached out and took one, put it in his pocket, and then pulled out Jin Baiyan’s photo from his pocket.

“Boss, oh, Uncle Li, right!” Jin Mo said with a smile.

Uncle Li was stunned for a moment, then laughed, “Yes, I’m Uncle Li! Did Xiaolian tell you?”

Jin Mo smiled and nodded, “Xiaolian said your food is affordable and delicious, and it really is!”

Uncle Li was praised and was a little shy, the big man’s face actually turning a little red.

“No, no, it’s all home-style cooking, not as good as a chef in a big restaurant!”

“Uncle Li, we love eating home-style dishes!” Xiao Feiwu interjected in a loud voice.

Uncle Li laughed even more happily, his face even redder.

Jin Mo held Jin Baiyan’s photo and handed it to Uncle Li, “Uncle Li, you’ve seen a lot of people, can you help me see if you’ve seen this person?”

Uncle Li leaned closer to Jin Mo, reached out his dark, rough hand, and took the photo.

    “This is…?”

    “My brother!”

“Oh! Let me see!” Uncle Li brought the photo closer to the light, looked at it again and again, thought about it again and again, and finally shook his head.

    “I really haven’t seen him!”

Jin Mo’s eyebrows furrowed. Again, no one had seen him!

Could it be that his brother hadn’t come here? Had he been following the wrong clues?

“Uncle Li, are you sure?” Jin Mo asked, frowning, unwilling to give up.

“Sure! This young man is so handsome; it would be hard to forget him after seeing him once!” Uncle Li said, chuckling twice, “My daughter, Li Mengyao, keeps chattering whenever she sees a good-looking young man, look!”

Uncle Li said, pointing not far away.

Uncle Li’s daughter, Li Mengyao, was pulling a girl of about the same age, staring intently at them, occasionally lowering her head and laughing, saying something!

Jin Mo’s forehead broke out in black lines.

He put away the photo, his appetite for eating clearly diminished.

He sighed, “Why hasn’t Uncle Li seen my brother either?”

Xu Jiahao swallowed the food in his mouth, his mouth tilting slightly: “Tch, with your brother’s aloof personality, would he eat in such a noisy place?”

Jin Mo thought about it and his eyebrows relaxed.

“That’s true, my brother probably cooks at home! You don’t know, my brother is a great cook!”

    Xiao Feiwu nodded repeatedly.

“Yes, yes, yes, Baiyan’s cooking is delicious! Too bad, I only ate it two or three times, thanks to Jin Mo!”

Jin Mo “ga ga” laughed twice.

“Those two times, my brother saw you ate most of it, his face turned dark!”

    Xiao Feiwu also laughed.

“I have a big appetite, who knew a few bites would take more than half, your brother directly grabbed my collar and threw me out! Ah, I really didn’t expect that Baiyan could be so petty!”

Xiao Feiwu said, exaggeratingly describing Jin Baiyan’s dark face, grabbing his collar.

The crowd couldn’t help but laugh “haha”!

“Really?” Huzi asked in surprise, “Brother Wu, can’t you beat Jin Zong?”

Xiao Feiwu slapped the table, “I was just too embarrassed to get serious with him!”

Jin Mo then “tched” once, “How do I remember, someone got beaten down by my brother several times?”

Xiao Feiwu’s face froze, raising his neck to continue struggling, “I was letting him! Who told him to be my benefactor!”

Jin Mo “hehe” laughed twice, and didn’t dwell on the issue anymore.

    Everyone understood!

Six people ate for more than an hour, and drank a bit tipsily.

After paying the bill, they walked out of the farmhouse, and being blown by the wind, they all regained a bit of their senses.

It was already past nine o’clock, and the six of them, supporting each other, walked towards the Slow Residence together.

Jin Mo only had a little bit.

“You didn’t drink today!” Xu Jiahao put his hand on Jin Mo’s shoulder, secretly treating him as a crutch.

Jin Mo “hmph” once, pushing away Xu Jiahao’s arm.

“In the past, when I missed my brother, I would get myself drunk, and have my classmates call my brother, shamelessly clinging to my brother.”

“My brother never said anything, he would just hold me and take me home!”

“He would cook me hangover soup, help me wash up, and take care of me while I slept.”

“Actually, I know he was angry that I wasn’t taking care of my body, and was afraid that if he opened his mouth he would say what was on his mind, so he kept holding it in.”

“He’s afraid of me getting angry! And he’s worried about my health!”

“In the past, I couldn’t understand his sadness, but now that he’s not by my side, I have to pay attention myself, and can’t let him worry!”

Jin Mo said slowly, while raising his head to look at the starry sky.

Xu Jiahao “ga ga ga” laughed, “Why do I see you like a child who just passed the rebellious stage, now reflecting on your past misdeeds?”

    Jin Mo also laughed.

“Rebelled for too long, and ended up losing my brother! Sigh!”

The conversation between the two floated, word for word, into the ears of Jin Baiyan, who was silently trailing behind them.

He didn’t understand what Jin Mo was saying, but he felt a trace of happiness!

The eyes revealed by the mask, sparkled in the darkness.
