Chapter 25: Half a Month Flies By

Zhao Chengxi’s test report arrived during dinner.

One drop of blood was confirmed to belong to Jin Baiyan, and the other to Liu Cai.

    Just as they had expected.

The matter had reached a standstill.

Neither Xiao Feiwu’s side nor Huzi’s side had made any progress.

Everyone pinned their hopes on Jin Mo.

Jin Mo had lost a lot of hair, his dark circles were panda-level, and he was utterly drained, yet he still couldn’t decipher the riddle his brother had left him.

In the blink of an eye, half a month had passed, and Jin Mo looked increasingly like a mess.

Xu Jiahao felt that this couldn’t go on, and forcibly dragged the nearly crazed Jin Mo out the door.

“Let’s go, let’s go fishing by the river!”

“I can’t, I haven’t found any clues yet!” Jin Mo drooped his head, hunched his back, and slowly followed behind Xu Jiahao.

“If you keep going like this, you’ll be useless! What are you going to do about finding your brother then?”

Xu Jiahao couldn’t help but swear, “Look at the way you look now, you’re scaring people!”

Jin Mo sighed. He knew his condition wasn’t right. If he continued like this, let alone find clues, he’d break down himself.

The weather in May was neither cold nor hot, and as soon as he stepped outside, he felt like he had come back to life.

He looked up and took a long breath.

“Brother, are you taking revenge on me?”

Xu Jiahao leaned against the wall, chuckling incessantly.

“Hey! I was wrong, really, I was wrong! Can you spare me and give me a little hint! Just a little bit, please!”

Jin Mo was very humble, negotiating with his brother, who was nowhere to be seen.

“Alright, let’s go!” Xu Jiahao couldn’t hold back any longer, pulling Jin Mo towards the car.

When they arrived at the riverbank, they found that everyone else was doing quite well.

Xiao Feiwu had even set up his fishing rod and was lying in the neatly arranged grass, waiting for fish while listening to music.

Xiao Ping and the already lively Liu Cai were each holding a harpoon, spearing fish in the small ditch next to them.

Jin Mo felt like his money had been thrown into the water.

Although he had money, he shouldn’t be hiring people to come and play, right?

“The boss is here, shouldn’t you guys restrain yourselves a bit!” Jin Mo walked to Xiao Feiwu and snatched off his earphones.

Xiao Feiwu turned his head slightly, shielding his eyes from the sun, and looked at the large forehead that suddenly appeared above him.

“Hey, you can’t blame me for this! There were only two ships this morning, and I asked them both, but they weren’t it! I’m so bored I’m about to fart!”

After Xiao Feiwu finished speaking, he sat up with a “whoosh.”

    “Do you have any leads?”

Jin Mo, with his heavy dark circles, shook his head.

“If you don’t have any leads, why did you come out?”

“If I didn’t come out, I’d probably ascend to heaven right here!” Xu Jiahao interjected.

Xiao Feiwu shook his shoulders and laughed, “Hahaha.”

“Baiyan must hate you a lot to pull off something like this!”

Jin Mo rolled his eyes at him, plopped down, and lay down.

In May, the sun was bright, the breeze was gentle, and the fragrance of grass and trees filled the air.

Jin Mo looked up at the sky, his thoughts drifting.

The azure sky was dotted with white clouds.

In a daze, he seemed to see his brother.

Standing there among the white clouds, with a hint of a smile in his eyes.

Jin Mo suddenly shuddered. Only now did he realize that his brother’s eyes always held a smile when he looked at him before, completely unlike how he’d been later.

Counting the time, his brother had been missing for over half a month.

The longing was like a bone-deep disease, impossible to shake off no matter where he went, whether he was awake or asleep.

Not being able to decipher the clues only made him more anxious.

Every time he saw the tens of thousands of “Little Mo” stacked together on the paper, he couldn’t help but feel heartache and worry.

In the past twenty years, he had never been so clearly aware of how important he was in his brother’s heart.

His thoughts drifted further and further away!

“Brother, I will always stay by your side!”

    “Okay!”

“Little Mo promises, word of honor!”

    “Yeah!”

“Brother, if Little Mo accidentally loses you, you leave me a three-dimensional stereogram that I can’t figure out! Hehehe!”

    “Okay!”

Distant memories suddenly emerged from a corner of his mind.

    Jin Mo abruptly sat up.

This was a conversation between him and Jin Baiyan when he was six and Jin Baiyan was eight.

“I remember! It’s a three-dimensional stereogram!” Jin Mo waved his hands, trembling with excitement, the words he spoke laced with sobs.

Xiao Feiwu was so startled he almost passed out.

Xu Jiahao dropped the harpoon in his hand and staggered over.

Jin Mo stood up and ran towards Xu Jiahao.

“Let’s go, let’s go back to the inn!”

A dozen minutes later, Jin Mo rushed into the room in a flurry, picked up the painting on the table, squinted, and looked for the feeling.

To see the hidden image in the painting, you needed to diverge your vision and then converge it again. He had never fully mastered this technique as a child.

Five minutes later, he still couldn’t find the feeling.

He put down the painting and paced around the room.

“Xu-ge, is there a pharmacy nearby?”

Xu Jiahao’s mind raced, “Yes, why?”

“Let’s go buy some eye drops. I need to blur my vision so I can see the hidden image!”

Knowing the direction, Jin Mo’s depression vanished, and the light that had disappeared from his eyes was rekindled.

Fortunately, he still remembered the conversation he had with his brother when he was a child!

“How did you suddenly realize it?” Xu Jiahao couldn’t help but ask on the way to the pharmacy.

“Today the weather was good, lying by the river, feeling the breeze, basking in the sun, looking at the blue sky and white clouds, I suddenly missed my brother a lot, thought about the things we used to do, and then a flash of inspiration opened the gate of my memory!”

Jin Mo said, smiling from ear to ear, swinging his arms.

“It’s been over a decade since that conversation, and I’m so grateful my brother remembered it, not afraid that I would have forgotten it long ago!” Jin Mo pouted, saying with lingering fear.

“Your brother probably bet everything on this! If you remember, you can unravel the mystery. If you don’t remember, it will also let him completely give up!”

Jin Mo didn’t say anything, walking forward with his head down.

After buying eye drops and returning to the inn, he couldn’t wait to apply them.

Sure enough, his moist eyes began to scatter light.

He immediately picked up the paper on the table and held it in front of his eyes.

Before long, he found the feeling and saw the hidden image, no, it should be said, the words hidden in the words.

The three pieces of paper were quickly finished.

Jin Mo’s palms supported the table, his body slightly bent, his head drooping as if boneless.

“What did you see?” Xu Jiahao pushed the soulless Jin Mo.

Jin Mo turned his head slightly, looked at Xu Jiahao, his eyes red, tears streaming down his face.

    Xu Jiahao was startled.

    “Oh, why are you crying?”

Jin Mo cried and cried, then laughed again. He reached out to wipe away his tears and pointed to the three pieces of paper on the table.

“Of these three, only one is a clue. The other two are… my brother’s confession to me!”

Xu Jiahao’s eyes widened instantly, his mouth slightly open, pointing to the paper on the table, “What?”

Jin Mo covered his heart with one hand, which was about to stop beating, and picked up one of the pieces of paper, “There’s a ‘love’ character hidden here.”

“This one hides a ‘you’ character.”

Xu Jiahao “heh”ed, and after a long while said, “Your brother, even his confessions are so subtle!”

Jin Mo covered his heart, laughing and tearing up at the same time.

“Yeah! Even his confessions are so cautious! Isn’t he afraid of breaking my heart!”

Xu Jiahao patted Jin Mo’s shoulder.

“I have to say, your brother’s trick is brilliant! It achieved the purpose of confession and firmly hooked you! High!”

Jin Mo raised his hand to hit him, “You make it sound like I’m a fish!”

Xu Jiahao “hehe” laughed, “Then what about the last one, what character is hidden?”

“A ‘beauty’ character!” Jin Mo picked up a pen and wrote the character on the paper.

The two stared at the character on the paper for a long time.

“Do you think it might be where your brother is?” Xu Jiahao pointed to the character with his hand and asked.

“Maybe! But we still have to combine it with the location where the cargo ship arrives, and only then can we get a result.”

    “Could it be a hospital?”

“It could also be a sanatorium!”

The two looked at each other and sighed.

“Jin Baiyan has once again refreshed my admiration for him!”

Jin Mo carefully folded his brother’s “confession letter” while smiling and replying, “He has also refreshed his importance in my heart!”

    The two laughed together, “Hahaha.”
