    Chapter 100: Phone Number Found

After the meal, Jin Baiyan carried Jin Mo back to the room for an afternoon nap.

Xiao Feiwu and Xu Jiahao were preparing to go out to see a movie.

Passing by the second floor, they encountered Pei Qingqing and Ruan Ying, who were about to go out for a stroll.

“Feiwu Ge, where are you going?” Pei Qingqing automatically stuck close again, with an elegant and proper smile on her face.

Xu Jiahao’s face darkened, and he brushed past Xiao Feiwu, heading straight downstairs.

Pei Qingqing was indeed beautiful, but Xu Jiahao felt stifled just looking at her, especially seeing her approaching Xiao Feiwu with that smiling face, which made him even more annoyed.

Seeing that Xu Jiahao was almost downstairs, Xiao Feiwu grew anxious and pushed Pei Qingqing out of the way, chasing after him “whoosh, whoosh, whoosh.”

    Pei Qingqing’s expression changed drastically.

This was the second time Xiao Feiwu had ignored her question to chase after that ordinary-looking, short guy with a mischievous smile.

    She was extremely unhappy.

She had always believed that her appearance and family background could win over any man effortlessly.

But she had encountered Jin Baiyan, who wouldn’t give her the time of day, and Jin Mo, who glared at her, causing her confidence to plummet repeatedly.

She didn’t expect that now, even Xiao Feiwu, this rough man, was someone she couldn’t subdue!

Pei Qingqing gnawed on her back molars, and the fire in her heart surged up in waves.

Ruan Ying stood at the door, watching Pei Qingqing fume, secretly laughing in her heart.

That boorish man clearly had his eye on that delicate young man; how could he possibly notice anyone else!

Ruan Ying didn’t want to bother with Pei Qingqing, but then she thought, this impulsive, brainless Pei Qingqing was the perfect tool for her.

If used well, she might be able to achieve her goals without getting her hands dirty!

Thinking of this, a calculating smile appeared on her face.

She took a few steps forward, her face already transformed.

“Alright, don’t be angry!” Her tone was full of concern. “That man is just a brute; why bother arguing with him!”

Pei Qingqing turned her head and glared at Ruan Ying.

“I know you’re saying that, but you’re probably laughing at me inside! Don’t think I don’t know you’re no good either!”

Ruan Ying cursed inwardly, but her face remained unchanged, still wearing a friendly smile.

“I’m indeed not a good person, but we’re allies now, with the same goal. How can we have internal strife if we want to succeed!”

Pei Qingqing’s expression softened a lot after hearing this.

Ruan Ying was right; they were allies now. On her own, she would have difficulty dealing with Jin Mo, let alone the even more formidable Jin Baiyan.

It was precisely because she knew her own limitations that she had invited Ruan Ying to join her.

Pei Qingqing approached Ruan Ying, taking her arm.

“Xiaoying, you’re right; I’m impulsive and can’t stand being provoked. Don’t hold it against me. You’re smart and calm; I’ll have to rely on you for the rest!”

Ruan Ying smiled, taking Pei Qingqing’s arm as they walked downstairs.

As they walked, she whispered, “Don’t worry, I know what’s what. After all, we have the same goal! It will be difficult for either of us to succeed without the other!”

Pei Qingqing “mm-hmm’d,” and a smile also appeared on her face.

Little did they know that their every move and every word were being clearly recorded by the surveillance camera above them.

Last night, after Jin Mother left the small kitchen, Jin Baiyan turned on the surveillance cameras throughout Slow Residence.

Previously, out of consideration for the guests’ privacy, he had only turned on the surveillance in the lobby.

Now, to guard against Pei Qingqing and Ruan Ying harming Jin Mo, he turned on the surveillance in all the public areas, such as the stairwell, the kitchen, and the backyard.

He had known Pei Qingqing since childhood; she was impulsive, brainless, liked to act elegant in front of elders, and often had bad intentions, but rarely acted on them.

This time, for her to maintain her bad intentions, Ruan Ying’s instigation and encouragement were indispensable.

Jin Baiyan turned on the surveillance in the living room of the suite where they were staying.

    Recording only audio, not video!

No matter what, the other party were girls!

Jin Baiyan listened to their conversation with headphones on, then turned off his phone, took off the headphones, and slowly lay down.

Jin Mo snuggled closer into his arms, rubbed his waist a couple of times with his hand, and contentedly fell asleep again.

Jin Baiyan’s gaze remained fixed on Jin Mo’s face, a faint worry in his heart.

Jin Mo had already slept this morning, yet he had fallen asleep again, which felt strange.

He lowered his head and carefully looked at Jin Mo’s face.

The little guy’s face was flushed with sleep, his skin as delicate as jelly, and his rosy lips were still swollen, making him look very healthy.

The anxiety in his heart lessened a little.

Li Ji Farmhouse had passed the peak dining hours, and only a few scattered people remained in the restaurant.

Li Mengyao instructed her classmate Ge Wenlan and then returned to her room.

She lifted her bed and pulled out a dusty suitcase.

The dust that rose up made her cough repeatedly.

Hiding at the doorway, she covered her mouth and nose, and only moved closer after the dust had settled.

The suitcase looked quite old; the green paint on the edges had peeled off, the canvas was somewhat aged, and the zipper wasn’t very smooth.

Li Mengyao covered her mouth and nose with one hand and pulled the rusted zipper with the other, opening it little by little.

The suitcase was full of books.

She lowered her hand and began searching for her scrapbook of celebrity pictures.

That book was filled with pictures of her favorite stars!

After graduating from junior high school, she sold many useless books, but she couldn’t bear to sell that scrapbook.

When her family converted the house into a farmhouse, the furniture and objects were placed everywhere, and she couldn’t remember exactly where it had gone!

She quickly flipped through the books in the suitcase, but it wasn’t there!

Li Mengyao didn’t get discouraged. She put the books back into the suitcase one by one, pushed it back under the bed, and restored the bed to its original state.

Standing in the room, she thought for a moment and ultimately chose to look in the attic first, rather than the underground storage room.

The attic was too dusty, so she found a mask to wear and climbed up.

As soon as she got up there, she was startled by a rat that darted out from a dark corner.

Luckily, she had worn a mask; otherwise, her shrew-like scream would have alerted Uncle Li long ago.

Li Mengyao turned on the light in the attic and cautiously walked toward a pile of junk in the corner.

She was startled from time to time by insects and ants scurrying out of the corners.

She even got hit in the face by dust falling from the ceiling.

Li “Braveheart” Mengyao was searching for her scrapbook while fantasizing about helping Jin Mo find his family and Jin Mo being so grateful to her that he gave her a passionate embrace.

With the addition of fantasy, what were these small difficulties in front of her!

Thinking of this, those insects instantly became insignificant in her eyes, and the dust from the ceiling was nothing but a piece of cake.

After half an hour of hard work, Li Mengyao finally found her scrapbook.

Without bothering to tidy up the items she had messed up, she grabbed the yellowed and faded scrapbook and rushed downstairs.

Back in her room, she immediately closed the door, afraid that Uncle Li would suddenly barge in and ruin her good deed.

She wanted to start searching immediately, but her head, face, and neck were covered in dust, which was really uncomfortable.

She put down the scrapbook, rushed into the bathroom, quickly washed her face, wiped her neck, and felt a little better before running back out.

The scrapbook had been in the attic for many years; the cover was yellowed, the paper was brittle, and it made a “whoosh, whoosh, whoosh” sound when she flipped through it.

Li Mengyao flipped through each page, looking up and down, carefully scrutinizing it.

Only when she reached the last page did she discover a faded phone number.

    Mr. Qin 136162XXXXX

Her face immediately lit up with a smile!

She quickly took out her phone, saved the phone number, and then hid the scrapbook in the drawer.
