Chapter 7: Dormancy Is Her True Nature

Sheng Jia encountered Xu Lijing on her way back after delivering the test papers.

There aren’t many undeveloped areas in Jingjiang No. 1 High School, but the clearing behind the small woods is a secret base for most students to escape reality, where they can clear their minds from time to time.

Sheng Jia happened to meet Xu Lijing again as she passed by.

Today, she was wearing her school uniform properly, leaning against the steps, her whole being exuding a sense of boredom.

She is a notorious underachiever at school, skipping classes is common for her. It’s not surprising to see her here. Her two companions are not people who have completely given up like her. On the contrary, their grades are actually quite good. It is said that they are good friends who grew up with Xu Lijing, so they accompany her in school every day.

Xu Lijing had dyed a few strands of pink hair yesterday. Sheng Jia saw her holding a mirror and tidying her hair as she passed by. When she saw Sheng Jia, she quickly put it down, revealing an indignant expression.

“Sheng Jia?” She walked up to Sheng Jia and said fiercely, “I haven’t come to find you yet, how dare you suddenly appear in front of me?”

In reality, Sheng Jia is half a head taller than her. Her aggressive appearance doesn’t intimidate her. Instead, it made her take two steps back to make it easier for them to look at each other, and then she replied, “I’m just passing by while delivering the papers. If I remember correctly, our matter should have been resolved.”

The confusion in her eyes made Xu Lijing, who had been thoroughly humiliated yesterday, grit her teeth with anger. After throwing the mirror away, she straightened her back and said to Sheng Jia, “Yes, it’s settled, but you caught me off guard and ambushed me yesterday. I want to fight you again.”

Xu Lijing has never liked soft and weak words since she was a child. She has never liked others saying that pink and floral dresses are what girls like. On the contrary, she likes martial arts and Sanda. The reason why her two friends trust her so much is because she severely taught the boys who bullied them when she was a child, and declared that if they dared to bully girls again, she would beat them up again.

Later, these people didn’t believe her, and still pulled her two friends’ hair in the name of teasing them, and did all kinds of pranks. Xu Lijing took a hard hand that time, beat those people until they cried for their parents, and even caused trouble at the school to find their parents.

At that time, she depended on her grandmother for life. Her grandmother doted on her very much, and didn’t think there was anything wrong with her protecting her friends, nor did she let her apologize.

Later, she was resented by those boys for a long time. From elementary school to high school, they spread rumors everywhere that she was a violent mad, a bad student. Could Xu Lijing endure this? She still beat them every time she saw them, but they achieved the purpose of spreading rumors.

Everyone thinks that Xu Lijing likes to fight and is good at causing trouble, except for her grandmother, who believed in her as always.

But her grandmother passed away when she was in the first year of high school.

She completely lost her spiritual pillar. Her mother and father were far away, and no matter what happened in the school, they would only blame her blindly, ask her to apologize, ask her not to cause trouble, and even blame her deceased grandmother for spoiling her.

Xu Lijing found it very funny.

So she decided to make this crime a reality. She really did skip classes, fight, and cause trouble. A rebellious girl in adolescence, or after losing the only relative who understood her, without anyone to guide her, she could only use this method to vent the sadness and anger in her heart. After all, she is a very aggressive person.

Of course, these are not the reasons why she blocked Sheng Jia. Xu Lijing never bullies the weak. She always feels that the fights she has are the fights that should be fought. Blocking Sheng Jia that day was just to warn her not to meddle in other people’s business, but she was defeated by Sheng Jia. She was unconvinced and couldn’t believe it. For so many years, she rarely lost.

So she always wanted to compete with her again in a fair and square manner.

Sheng Jia glanced at Xu Lijing, who was standing tall, and took another step back, “I have to go back to the classroom to study.”

After saying that, she was about to leave. Xu Lijing quickly grabbed her arm, acting like a child and acting shamelessly, “You’re not allowed to leave!”

Sheng Jia was afraid of trouble, so she agreed.

The result was obvious. Xu Lijing lost again.

Not only did she lose, but she also cried out of grievance after accidentally getting hit in the face by Sheng Jia and looking in the mirror.

Sheng Jia stood not far away, looking at her helplessly.

“How did you practice? You’re a good student, do you even have time to study fighting?” Xu Lijing choked and said, “Don’t you know not to hit people in the face? If I go out with this injury, won’t everyone know that I’m at a disadvantage? How will I get around in the future?”

    Sheng Jia: …

Sheng Jia: “Sorry, I didn’t mean to.”

She said it lightly. Xu Lijing covered her bruised eye socket and said angrily, “You wait, I’ll definitely beat you next time.”

She had never suffered such grievances since she was a child.

“I thought our matter was over,” Sheng Jia frowned and said, “I won’t fight you next time either. If you come to block me again, I won’t be as easy to talk to as I am today.”

Speaking of this, Xu Lijing couldn’t help but feel angry, “You still dare to say that our grievances are over? Didn’t you provoke me first? What’s wrong with me fighting back?”

As soon as she finished speaking, the voices of her two friends came from behind the wall.

    “What are you doing here?”

Xu Lijing and Sheng Jia were slightly stunned. Then, they saw Xu Lijing’s two friends pulling Song Ji’an, who was standing behind the wall, out.

Xu Lijing quickly covered her eye socket and glared at Song Ji’an, “You were eavesdropping?”

Song Ji’an was a little embarrassed to be caught in the act. She and Sheng Jia, who was looking at her, looked at each other, and smiled subconsciously. Years of stress-resistant education allowed her to maintain a superficial calmness and effectively deal with this situation, so she said to Xu Lijing sincerely, “I wasn’t. I just got here and only heard your last sentence.”

After saying that, she shook the test paper in her hand, “Sheng Jia forgot to bring her test paper. I’m helping her deliver it. I just happened to pass by.”

Xu Lijing glanced at her and then at Sheng Jia. She felt that she had lost face again today. She wiped the tears from her face, got up from the steps, snorted softly, and walked towards the snack shop with her two friends.

The clearing that was just very lively was suddenly left with only two people. Song Ji’an walked over and put the test paper into Sheng Jia’s hand, explaining, “You left this one on the playground.”

Sheng Jia looked down at the things in her hand and suddenly asked, “Don’t you have anything to ask me?”

A bit of surprise appeared in Song Ji’an’s eyes.

Sheng Jia’s sudden question was beyond her expectation. After all, based on Sheng Jia’s personality, how could she take the initiative to bring up her own affairs.

Song Ji’an: “If I ask, will you answer?”

“Why not? You only have a superficial understanding of Xu Lijing’s affairs. Instead of letting you guess and inquire elsewhere, I might as well tell you.” Sheng Jia looked at her, “If you inquire elsewhere and reveal my conflict with Xu Lijing, it will be very troublesome.”

    So that’s how it is.

Song Ji’an nodded knowingly. Sheng Jia really wouldn’t suddenly treat people as friends and have a desire to share. Everything is just for herself.

So Song Ji’an sat on the steps that Xu Lijing had just sat on and looked up at her, “Then tell me about it? Did you actually provoke her first?”

“Yes,” Sheng Jia admitted frankly, “When I went to work part-time outside, she and another girl had a big fight in the cafe where I worked part-time. I stepped in to stop them and pulled them apart, but Xu Lijing was too aggressive, so I could only work with another clerk to kick her out, and by the way, sent the other girl to the hospital.”

“Was that girl injured by Xu Lijing?”

“No, it was during the process of the two people arguing that their arms were cut by the pieces of porcelain that they had broken together,” Sheng Jia said slowly, “I don’t know how this matter was handled later, the manager handled it. I only know that in the end, Xu Lijing compensated for the cafe’s losses, but I guessed at that time that Xu Lijing might come to make trouble for me.”

“What were they arguing about?” Song Ji’an asked.

Xu Lijing’s impression of her was not very good at first. She thought she was a girl who habitually bullied others. Even these few times they met, Xu Lijing was looking for trouble with people.

But just now, Xu Lijing cried and said that Sheng Jia provoked her first, and she left without saying anything after discovering that Song Ji’an was eavesdropping.

Only then did Song Ji’an realize that because of their first meeting, she was looking at Xu Lijing with prejudice, so she always felt that she was very violent, but the fact was not necessarily like this.

“That girl insulted her grandmother.” Sheng Jia said softly, “Xu Lijing depended on her grandmother for life since she was a child. Her grandmother passed away in the first year of high school, so she became furious after hearing the other person’s insults.”

This is the real reason why Xu Lijing fought with people.

Therefore, she regarded Sheng Jia, who came to pull her away and kicked her out, as an enemy, and wanted to come and warn her not to meddle in other people’s business in the future.

And Sheng Jia had already figured out her past and threatened her with her grandmother, hitting her sore spot.

“This is really…” Song Ji’an hesitated to speak, feeling that this matter at the cafe was unclear. From anyone’s perspective, they were not wrong.

It was Sheng Jia’s responsibility to pull Xu Lijing away. It was also completely understandable that Xu Lijing argued with people for the sake of her grandmother.

Xu Lijing was annoyed with Sheng Jia for this, which was taking it out on her, but she herself felt that this was just a counterattack. Sheng Jia’s use of her grandmother to respond to her counterattack was also self-defense.

Song Ji’an didn’t have the right to speak on this matter, and could only be a listener, and couldn’t give any advice. Sheng Jia obviously has an extremely independent personality, and she can handle these things in her own way.

Song Ji’an finally asked gently, “If you were Xu Lijing, what would you do in the cafe?”

“Me?” Sheng Jia said expressionlessly, “Maybe I would have taken action on the spot and beat her even harder.”

“Ah?” Song Ji’an was stunned for a moment, “So you actually agree with Xu Lijing’s handling?”

“Why not?” Sheng Jia looked at her and suddenly curved her lips into a smile. This time it was a very obvious smile, but it didn’t have much emotion, but rather a bit of sarcasm, “Sometimes violence may be more useful than human words, and some truths can’t be reasoned with.”

Song Ji’an had a smooth life since she was a child. She knew that those who knew her identity flattered her. She had never seen the evil of human nature. In some ways, she was extremely naive. She always felt that all things didn’t necessarily have to be resolved with violence in the end.

Or perhaps not only her, but most people in the school are like this. They are protected by the campus and their relatives, and still believe in justice and fairness in the world. They are very naive, very brave, and also abide by the rules.

But Sheng Jia couldn’t. If she were to be such a person, she would not be able to survive. She would be bullied and ostracized. She is used to solving all problems at once. If using force is the fastest way, she will use it without caring.

“Song Ji’an, have you noticed? We are not the same kind of people,” Sheng Jia stood up, looked down at her, and said bluntly, “I’m leaving, thank you for helping me bring the test paper.”

After saying that, Sheng Jia walked towards the second-year teaching building with that stack of test papers in her arms.

The expression on her face was still very cold, but the corners of her lips slightly curved in a place where Song Ji’an couldn’t see.

In fact, even she was lying just now.

What should she do if she encounters something like Xu Lijing?

She wouldn’t encounter such a thing, because she doesn’t have any relatives who can make her so angry.

Even if she did, she wouldn’t put herself in such a passive position on the surface. She would remember these humiliations, and then find a chance to bite back when the other person was off guard.

    Dormancy is her true nature.

But people like Song Ji’an actually prefer quick and easy revenge.

Just like she changed her view of Xu Lijing after listening to Xu Lijing’s story.

Perhaps she was taught to handle things calmly and rationally since she was a child, but in fact, venting everything on the spot without Take care of everything is the real thing that can make people feel happy and envious.

Just like her confession to Sheng Jia by The Sea.
