Chapter 115: I Won’t Lie To You Anymore

They maintained the embrace at the doorway for a long time, until Song Ji’an regained her composure and pushed Sheng Jia away.

It’s impossible for a person to be in a state of collapse forever, but Song Ji’an knew clearly in her heart that the moment she opened the door and saw Sheng Jia, Sheng Jia’s goal was achieved. She couldn’t simply push Sheng Jia away anymore, nor could she entertain the beautiful dream of returning from Norway and pretending that nothing had happened.

Perhaps Sheng Jia hadn’t lied to her; she had no plan. It was a completely instinctive act. The Song Ji’an of five years ago would have unhesitatingly believed that Sheng Jia was willing to cry with her and empathize with her to save her. But now, it was the Song Ji’an of five years later. She sadly realized that her first thought after regaining her composure was that Sheng Jia had achieved her purpose.

She could no longer consider Sheng Jia’s actions with the most objective thoughts. She only felt that everything Sheng Jia did was weaving a thick rope that she was powerless to break free from, and increasingly unwilling to break free from.

Somewhat absentmindedly, she raised her hand to caress Sheng Jia’s cheek, where a teardrop still clung to her skin. Sheng Jia tilted her head slightly, nuzzling her soft palm like a puppy.

In the past, Sheng Jia’s palm had thin calluses. Song Ji’an’s palm was smooth and soft, the only hard place being the middle finger joint she used to hold a pen day after day. That represented her honors and efforts. Now, Song Ji’an’s fingers and even her palm were covered with thin calluses, which she had developed during the late nights of her dedicated work as an embalmer.

Sheng Jia had wantonly licked every one of her finger joints. When sending her to the clouds, she preferred to interlock her fingers tightly, stroking her hard calluses. She knew every line on that hand clearly.

She seemed to have always liked fixing her gaze on her hand since high school. She liked her hand very much because it was always full of warmth and strength.

But now, this hand was stroking her tears. The contact between the fingertips and skin was actually slightly prickly.

She knew what Song Ji’an wanted at this moment, so she didn’t speak, only looking up at her with a gaze that was at a low position, until she couldn’t bear such a gaze and tried to withdraw her hand.

Sheng Jia grabbed her wrist and, in an instant, embraced her again.

This time, she didn’t hug her too tightly. It was an embrace that Song Ji’an could break free from at any time, but she didn’t. She just stayed quietly in Sheng Jia’s arms, her chin resting on Sheng Jia’s shoulder.

Sheng Jia patted the back of her head and said softly, “Song Ji’an, I know what you’re thinking. You don’t have to feel guilty. Everything will be alright.”

“Since you think everything I do is planned, why don’t you think that the ultimate goal of my plan this time is you?”

“A healthy, happy you, without having to bear any shadows.”

Having said that, she slowly let go of her and helped her up.

She didn’t know if Song Ji’an had any neighbors. If so, they would probably find it very inexplicable to see the two of them crying and making noise at the door.

When she asked this question, Song Ji’an only said, “There are no neighbors across the street.”

Song Ji’an’s face didn’t show any emotion. She just turned her head awkwardly, not wanting to make eye contact with Sheng Jia.

Sheng Jia chuckled softly. She said, “Then I’m leaving.”

Song Ji’an pursed her lips, wanting to smile a little like usual, but in the end, she only asked in a low voice, “Didn’t you say your car broke down, so you can’t leave?”

“I lied to you,” Sheng Jia pressed the elevator button. “I won’t lie to you anymore. I just felt that you were sad, so I came up on purpose.”

With a ding, the elevator arrived, and Sheng Jia stepped into the elevator.

The silver steel doors closed quickly, and the elevator numbers were jumping, gradually going from six to one, and then with another ding.

    She left.

Song Ji’an leaned against the doorframe and took a deep breath. She closed the door and turned to enter the room.

The mirror in the entrance reflected her figure.

She glanced at the corner of her eye and was a little surprised, raising her hand to touch the corner of her lips.

The embarrassed Song Ji’an in the mirror also touched the corner of her lips, where there was a faint smile that she herself didn’t know when it had appeared.

After Sheng Jia went downstairs, she got into the car quickly. This time, the driver didn’t wait for long and stepped on the accelerator and got on the highway quickly.

The scenery outside the window retreated. The patience and gentleness that Sheng Jia had shown to Song Ji’an had long since been put away. She looked coldly at the tablet in her palm, which was displaying several documents that had been sent to her email last night.

The sender of the email was Liu Meng, Wang Huiqiu’s lawyer.

Wang Huiqiu was the first elder Sheng Jia met after being recognized by Song Ningqiu and returning to the Song family, and also the elder Sheng Jia was most familiar with over the years.

She had always been a direct descendant of Song Yumei and was bound to the interests of the Song family for life. Even after retiring, she would absolutely protect the interests of the Song family.

Song Ningqiu’s first effort to ensure that Sheng Jia entered the Song Group smoothly was to ask her to come out of retirement and become Sheng Jia’s mentor.

This was also the reason why Sheng Jia was especially familiar with her. In the past five years, she had seen Wang Huiqiu more often than she had seen Song Ningqiu. Her smooth entry into the group was also thanks to Wang Huiqiu’s unreserved help.

However, because last year Wang Huiqiu felt that Sheng Jia was completely able to handle most of the things in the group by herself, she once again chose to retire early gloriously, too lazy to ask about the things in the group.

Sheng Jia would visit her during the holidays and would occasionally shamelessly go to her house to ask about things she didn’t understand, but Wang Huiqiu was usually too lazy to see her during the usual visits.

This little old lady was very maverick and didn’t like the younger generation to visit her at all, only finding it noisy.

But now, this old lady’s lawyer had sent a will to her email in advance. The time was even exactly 10:00 PM last night.

It was not strange for a rich person to make a will, but the will would generally be announced at the end, unless the old lady’s health was failing, the lawyer would notify in advance.

Sheng Jia had just called Wei Pan to ask about Wang Huiqiu’s recent situation. Wei Pan only said that he had asked Wang Huiqiu’s assistant and said that she was all well. She had even specifically had a physical examination two days ago, and her body indicators were stronger than Fu Minglang, who was six or seven years younger than her. She also planned to go to the northwest for a trip recently.

    This was a bit strange.

Sheng Jia glanced at the map. They had already left Jingjiang and were now going to the capital.

She had originally scheduled a trip to Beijing for these two days and left the day after tomorrow free to pick up Song Ningqiu.

“Change the route, go to Yunze,” Sheng Jia instructed the driver in front.

“Going to Yunze may delay your trip to Beijing,” the driver reminded.

“We’ll go first, and then take a plane to Beijing after we finish,” Sheng Jia said.

The driver responded with a “okay” and got off the highway and turned around at the next toll station.

Yunze was not far from here. This was a small town specially found by Wang Huiqiu. The life was leisurely and relaxed, the vegetation coverage was high, and the air quality was among the best in the country. It was a very niche retirement city.

This was not the first time Sheng Jia had come here. She looked at her watch. “Go to Jinghong Square.”

There were few situations where Sheng Jia couldn’t get someone to like her. In order to get Wang Huiqiu to teach her everything she knew, she had made a lot of efforts and knew the old lady quite well.

There were not many people in Jinghong Square at the moment. After Sheng Jia got out of the car, she went straight to the open space behind the square. A group of old ladies in red clothes were dancing in the square behind the huge speakers.

Sheng Jia spotted the tallest and thinnest one inside at a glance and quickly walked to the empty space behind her, following along and dancing.

    “Grandma Wang,” she called out.

Wang Huiqiu, who had already seen her when Sheng Jia joined the team, pretended not to hear and energetically waved her hands into a windmill.

“Grandma Wang!” Sheng Jia’s voice was a little louder.

Several old ladies around her heard it, carefully looked at Sheng Jia, and couldn’t help but laugh.

“Isn’t this Little Sheng? It’s been a long time since I saw you accompanying your grandma here.”

Sheng Jia smiled at them. Wang Huiqiu, who couldn’t avoid it, could only turn her head and glanced at her, reminding, “We’ll talk after the dance is over.”

So Sheng Jia stopped talking and only followed Wang Huiqiu and their steps for a short section. Soon, the music from the Bluetooth speaker came to an end. Sheng Jia quickly grabbed Wang Huiqiu and said to the several people next to her, “My grandma and I still have something to talk about. Can you all fill her position first?”

Several people responded loudly and said that they should let their grandmother and granddaughter catch up.

Wang Huiqiu didn’t even have the slightest room to interrupt.

The two quickly walked to the unmanned green belt. There was a small lawn here, with rows of wooden chairs on it. Until they sat down, Wang Huiqiu was still sulking with her eyes not eyes and her nose not nose.

“Grandma Wang,” Sheng Jia was not polite with her and took the initiative to say, “You said we’d talk after the dance was over, why are you ignoring people now?”

Wang Huiqiu picked up her water bottle and took a sip, leaned on the back of the chair and slowly asked, “Then what do you want to say?”

Responding to her was Sheng Jia’s tablet, which had already been adjusted, and the will above, “Your lawyer Liu sent me this email last night. Why?”

“She sent it to you last night?” Wang Huiqiu’s face didn’t have a bit of guilt, and she replied, “I guess she drank too much and sent it to the wrong person, right?”

“As expected of President Wang, who fought the country with my grandmother, she doesn’t change her face when she lies,” Sheng Jia clapped for her expressionlessly. “I suggest you tell the truth. Sister Liu couldn’t possibly make such a low-level mistake. If she sent this email to me herself without your instructions, then it must be because something happened that she couldn’t stop and may endanger your life.”

“How could there be such a thing?” Wang Huiqiu was stared at by her, and there was a little more guilt in her eyes at this time.

She had lived a very solitary life, liked quiet and not noise, and lived a carefree life. Because she had experienced a lot of intrigue and deception with Song Yumei when she was young, she was often the one who played the tough guy, so over the years, she was used to facing the younger generation with a stern face full of seriousness. Whether it was Song Ningqiu or the former Song Ji’an, they were actually quite afraid of her, but when she was old, she just happened to meet Sheng Jia, this tough nut to crack.

Sheng Jia was not only not afraid of her, but also figured out her temper and personality, and also learned how to restrain her when she made a mistake.

“You’re still lying to me here?” Sheng Jia pinched her eyebrows. “Then I’ll call Sister Liu now and ask what’s going on, and say that you’re very dissatisfied with her behavior and think she’s leaking client privacy at will, and I’ll fire her for you.”

“You dare!” Wang Huiqiu was anxious. She had some understanding of Sheng Jia over the years. This child might really do what she said.

Sheng Jia then looked at her with her arms folded. “Then you confess leniently.”

“Are you interrogating me?” Wang Huiqiu tried to take out the style of an elder, but Sheng Jia didn’t buy it. “Yes, I’m interrogating you. You also know that I haven’t met my grandmother. I treat you and Ms. Fu as my grandmothers. I’ll be sad if anything happens to anyone. Either you confess, or I fire the lawyer who leaked your privacy. You choose yourself.”

“My lawyer, what qualifications do you have to fire her?” Wang Huiqiu cursed, “I brought you for four years, is this how you repay me?”

“Saying harsh words is useless to me,” Sheng Jia shrugged. “This is what you taught me. I’m not qualified to fire her, but I can pay her three times the salary to dig her over and then fire her. What do you think? By the way, you also taught me this trick before.”

Wang Huiqiu pointed at her and couldn’t say anything for a moment, obviously angered. In the end, she could only take a deep breath, “Do you really want to know?”

    “Of course,” Sheng Jia nodded.

“Then you promise that you won’t tell anyone after I tell you.” Wang Huiqiu stared at her and said.

“Then what do you think is your capital for bargaining with me?” Sheng Jia asked.

“Why does this sound so familiar?” Wang Huiqiu muttered.

Sheng Jia slowly replied, “Two years ago, I wanted to do a project and you didn’t allow it. After I confronted you, you said this to me.”

“Didn’t you still let you do it later? Are you still holding a grudge?” Wang Huiqiu tried to change the topic.

“You should tell me quickly. I have a bidding meeting in the capital. When will you say it, I’ll leave when.”

    “…”

“You love to go or not!” Wang Huiqiu cursed, “Who are you threatening?”

“It’s a cooperation project between Qianqiao Daxie in the capital and abroad, and it is expected to generate more than 10 billion in revenue within two years.”

“Okay, okay, I’ll say it, I’ll say it!”

Wang Huiqiu absolutely couldn’t tolerate Sheng Jia missing such an important meeting and causing huge losses to Song because of her.

But she still scratched her hair with a headache, and after a long time, she stammered and said, “It’s because I’m going to travel to the northwest, and Xiao Liu is worried, but she can’t persuade me, so she sent you the message.”

“Just a trip? Where are you going?” Sheng Jia wouldn’t be fooled by her in a few words. How could going out to play make Sister Liu so nervous, and on the way here, she had seen Wang Huiqiu’s physical examination form, which was extremely detailed and had more than a dozen more items than she had done in the past few decades.

“Just, just wandering around the Salt Lake, Huangsha City, and then going to Tibet…”

“Where are you going in Tibet?”

    “Mount Everest.”

“…” Sheng Jia asked a little incredulously and with a little hope, “Are you going to see it at the foot of Mount Everest?”

Wang Huiqiu had said everything she should say at the moment, but she wasn’t so guilty. She looked at the sky above her head and suddenly smiled, “No, it’s to climb to the top.”

“I’ve been thinking about this for more than twenty years.”
