Chapter 67: I’m Not as Good as You Think

Late at night, Chi Ye carried Su Shi to the small sofa. After changing the bedsheets, he carried Su Shi back to bed.

Su Shi was very tired. While Chi Ye was helping him change clothes, he was limp as if he had no bones, constantly saying “sleepy.”

Chi Ye kissed Su Shi’s face, coaxing him like a child, “Just a moment, change into your pajamas and then sleep.”

Su Shi felt Chi Ye caressing his fingers, and then felt a chill as something was slipped onto his finger.

Su Shi tried to open his eyes to see what it was, but his eyelids were too heavy and he couldn’t manage it. In a half-dreaming state, he seemed to hear Chi Ye calling him “wife.”

When he opened his eyes again, it was broad daylight. The spot next to him in the bed was already cold. Chi Ye had gone to school, and Su Shi should also get up and go to work.

In the bathroom, Su Shi was brushing his teeth while blankly looking at himself in the mirror.

Suddenly, his eyes caught a glimpse of silver. Su Shi picked up his left hand and held it in front of his eyes. A ring was on his ring finger.

The toothbrush fell out of Su Shi’s mouth. Su Shi picked it up, rinsed it clean under the tap, and rinsed the bubbles out of his mouth. He began to study the ring.

The plain silver band was inlaid with three small diamonds, giving it a simple, fashionable look. Su Shi took the ring off his finger and carefully examined it in front of his eyes.

Several English letters were engraved on the inside circle: CYSS.

Su Shi pondered for a few seconds, and then exclaimed that it was the abbreviation of Chi Ye Su Shi’s names.

When did Chi Ye order this?

They haven’t been together for very long, and Chi Ye already gave him a ring.

He heard that such custom orders take a while to receive. Could it be that Chi Ye used his “chāo power”?

Su Shi wasn’t someone who spent money recklessly and felt that would be too wasteful.

He always felt that Chi Ye was in a hurry, making their progress very fast.

However, Su Shi still felt quite sweet inside.

He came out, found his phone, took a photo of his hand, and sent it to Chi Ye.

Why didn’t you give it to me in person?

    Chi Ye replied quickly: Surprise.

Su Shi held his phone, like a young man who had just fallen in love. Indeed, if Chi Ye had given him the ring in person, Su Shi would have been at a loss. It was too fast, this was too fast.

Chi Ye: Do you like it?

Su Shi: I like it, it’s beautiful.

    Chi Ye: That’s good.

Su Shi: By the way, when did you prepare it? I saw there are our names on it.

Chi Ye replied after a while: Recently.

Putting down his phone, Su Shi began to groom himself while humming a song.

Suddenly wearing a ring on his ring finger would make people notice something and cause discussion. Su Shi put the ring on his middle finger.

It was a little tight, but it was barely okay, and it matched the clothes he was wearing today.

    Chi Ye had good taste.

Sure enough, if everything goes smoothly in the morning, everything will go smoothly throughout the day. As soon as Su Shi arrived at the Studio, he received good news.

As if he had stepped in dog poop, the opponent company’s financial system was suddenly hacked, exposing financial problems, which aroused the attention of the tax bureau.

The opposing company took the initiative to propose a settlement to them, only needing to compensate for some medical expenses, which was really gratifying.

Xu Huai was originally very guilty about this, but now he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Su Shi faintly felt that something was unusual. Things that are abnormal must be demonic. How could it be such a coincidence that a hacker just happened to invade, as if even God was helping.

When he got home, Su Shi told Chi Ye about this and mentioned the few suspicious points he felt.

Chi Ye thought there was nothing to it, it was evil getting its comeuppance.

So Su Shi stopped thinking about it.

He attributed it to the fact that he had been lucky during this time, and everything went smoothly.

Su Shi’s mood remained beautiful until he received a call from Chen Jingtian.

That day, after Chen Cheng returned from Su Shi’s home, he was in an extremely bad mood. He called Su Shi and asked, “Brother, you’re not with Chi Ye, right? Is Chi Ye pestering you unilaterally, right?” But he didn’t hear the answer he wanted.

Su Shi told Chen Cheng very firmly, “No, we are together, I like him.” Amid Chen Cheng’s crying and screaming, Su Shi hung up the phone mercilessly.

Then Chen Cheng started not eating, not going to school, and crying and clamoring to find Su Shi at home.

Chen Jingtian only knew that Chen Cheng was like this after going to Su Shi’s house, so he came to Su Shi to question him.

“What exactly did you do to your brother? He’s been crying and making a fuss since he came back, and he won’t say what happened when I ask him.”

Su Shi was speechless and could only tell Chen Jingtian, “I didn’t do anything.”

People who are biased will not feel that there is a problem with their bias. Chen Jingtian said angrily, “If you didn’t do anything, would he be like this?”

“If you don’t believe me, there’s nothing I can do.” Su Shi said coldly.

Chen Jingtian let out a sigh and finally softened his voice, “Your brother listens to you the most. Take some time to come over and coax him.”

After answering the phone, Su Shi unloaded all his strength and burrowed into Chi Ye’s arms, closing his eyes and burying his face completely.

Chi Ye gently stroked his hair, “It’s okay, it’s okay.”

Su Shi used to think he was quite strong. He lost his mother when he was young, and as an older brother, he had to take on the responsibility of taking care of his younger sister, Su Qing.

Most of the time, Su Shi could stand on his own.

He could remain unemotional in the face of Chen Jingtian’s bias and continue to perfunctorily indulge Chen Cheng’s unreasonable demands.

However, after having Chi Ye, Su Shi seemed to have undergone a change in this regard.

Chi Ye was clearly younger, but he made Su Shi want to rely on him unconsciously.

If he had received such a call in the past, Su Shi would probably have thrown the phone away and cursed a few times to vent his anger.

But now, he burrowed into Chi Ye’s arms, wanting to get some comfort.

Su Shi didn’t resist this trend of becoming softer. His voice was muffled, “Chen Jingtian was sorry to my mom, I’ve always hated him. But the Su family’s assets are all in his hands, so I have to pretend to be nice to him. He always wants me to take care of Chen Cheng, how ridiculous is he? Only Su Qing is my real sister. What is Chen Cheng? Me being nice to him, indulging him, it’s all to spoil him and ruin him, to make him a useless person. I succeeded, he is indeed useless.”

Chi Ye listened silently, without stopping his gentle pats and strokes of Su Shi.

Su Shi giggled, the laughter containing a trace of sarcasm and a trace of loneliness.

“Chen Jingtian indirectly killed my mom, he will get his retribution. And my aunt, grandma, the whole family lives a life of luxury by sucking my Su family’s blood. Before a year had passed since my mom died, they incited Chen Jingtian to marry Chen Cheng’s mom.”

Chi Ye’s heart ached along with Su Shi, and he asked softly, “And then?”

“Then of course I wouldn’t let them get their wish. I held a knife to Chen Jingtian, saying that if he dared to marry that woman, I would die in front of him. I wouldn’t allow another woman to enter the house. I wanted to protect my mom’s things, even if it meant losing Chen Jingtian’s pathetic fatherly love.”

Chi Ye could almost see a little boy holding a knife, courageously confronting the adults.

“It’s not that Chen Jingtian was really afraid of me dying, but he wanted to maintain the image of a good father, a good husband, a loving person, so he gave up marrying that woman. But I couldn’t stop him from bringing Chen Cheng back, so I could only use my own methods to retaliate.”

Su Shi murmured, like a doll about to shatter. He had never mentioned these things to anyone, not even his closest friend, Song Qingyan.

Outsiders only thought that Su Shi was a sunny, cheerful person full of positive energy.

But everyone has a dark side, an unknown side.

Su Shi got up from Chi Ye’s arms and looked at Chi Ye with a smile.

“Chi Ye, I’m not as good as you think. You see, I’m actually very bad.”

Chi Ye stopped his mouth, “I’m not as good as you think either. Don’t dislike me in the future.”
