Chapter 1: The Sniper is Gone Again

“Captain, I’m sorry.” Li Yu stood before Luo Yan with his head lowered.

“It’s alright, I know you have ambitions. It’s indeed difficult to fully utilize your skills here. Go to CS and play well.” Luo Yan calmly patted Li Yu’s shoulder. He had long been prepared for Li Yu’s transfer. “Pack up and go to CS. There’s a competition in a month, and you need to practice more.”

“Okay.” Li Yu took a few steps, then turned back, looking at Luo Yan with apology in his eyes.

“Captain, I’m really sorry to you all.”

After saying that, Li Yu turned and quickly walked towards his room. Before long, he came out carrying a suitcase. It seemed he had been ready for this day to come. “Goodbye, Captain.”

Li Yu glanced reluctantly at the SY Base, then got into a taxi without looking back, officially leaving the SY team.

Li Yu joined the team three years ago, drawn to SY by their two consecutive championship titles. He wanted to win the national championship, the world championship, but in the year he joined, Cen Xi, the former captain of SY, mysteriously disappeared, leaving the SY team he had personally built. Since then, SY’s performance began to decline. In the most recent competition, SY was stopped in the top eight.

Luo Yan leaned against the wall, watching Li Yu’s departure. His body slowly slid down until he sat on the ground. He punched the floor a few times, venting his inner emotions, then stood up, sat in his computer chair, opened the game, opened his friends list, and scrolled down. When he reached the avatar that had been dark for three years, he stopped. His eyes were red as he looked at the avatar.

Cen Xi, I can’t hold on anymore, what should I do? It was clearly the team you built, so why did you leave without a word in the end, leaving the team to the three of us? I’m really tired. We don’t have a sniper again. When are you coming back to fill this position? Also, I really, really miss you. When are you coming back, brother?

Luo Yan forced the tears back. It wasn’t evening yet, he couldn’t cry. He was the captain of SY, he couldn’t let others see his weakness, it would affect the mood of the others in the team.

“Captain YanYan, I’m back!” Wu Xinming ran in from outside and hugged Luo Yan. “My brother and I bought a lot of snacks at the supermarket next door. See if there’s anything you want to eat.”

Luo Yan cleared his throat, trying to hide his emotions. “Xinming, no need, I don’t want to eat anything right now.”

But as Luo Yan’s teammate for many years, how could he not sense that something was wrong with Luo Yan? “YanYan, what’s wrong?”

Luo Yan didn’t speak, he was silent. He didn’t know how to tell them that Li Yu had left.

Wu Xinming’s twin brother, Wu Xinshen, put the snacks on the table, then looked at the four tables in the training room. Li Yu’s table was empty. It seemed out of place next to the other three tables. Li Yu is gone, Wu Xinshen concluded.

“Xinming, it seems like Li Yu is gone.”

“Ah?” Wu Xinming released Luo Yan and looked at Li Yu’s position. The sniper figurine he had given Li Yu was gone. Li Yu had said that he would take the sniper figurine with him wherever he went. Now that the sniper figurine was gone, it meant that Li Yu had left.

The atmosphere in the training room suddenly became low.

“YanYan, our team doesn’t have a sniper again?” Wu Xinming knew in his heart that Li Yu would leave SY and go to another team, but this was too sudden. There was no news that Li Yu was leaving beforehand. He was happily duo-queuing with Li Yu just a few days ago.

“Yeah.” Luo Yan lowered his head, making it impossible to see his emotions.

Wu Xinshen walked to Wu Xinming’s side, and Wu Xinming suddenly threw himself into Wu Xinshen’s arms. “Brother, is our SY team going to completely fall? There’s a competition in a month, but we don’t have a sniper again.”

Wu Xinshen patted Wu Xinming’s back as a form of comfort, even though he was also feeling very bad inside. This was the second time they had experienced something like this.

“If we don’t have a sniper, we’ll find another one!” Luo Yan suddenly stood up. “XinShen, have Liu Li look everywhere for a suitable sniper and try to find one within half a month. We’ll spend the remaining half a month practicing together.”

Luo Yan picked up his phone, preparing to walk out of the training room. “I’m going out for a walk, I won’t be back for dinner.”

“Okay.” Wu Xinshen responded. Of the entire SY team, everyone felt the most sorry for this youngest captain, who had taken on the responsibility of captain at a young age. He wanted to say something to comfort him, but he didn’t know what to say. He and Wu Xinming both knew his persistence, waiting for Cen Xi to come back and win the championship again. This was also his and Wu Xinming’s persistence, so the SY team could not disband. “Come back early, YanYan.”

“Okay.” Luo Yan opened the door to the training room and left.

Only Wu Xinming and Wu Xinshen, who was constantly comforting Wu Xinming, were left in the training room. Looking around, it felt somewhat empty.
