HUFT Chapter 63
by VolareChapter 63
After getting in the car, the doors were tightly shut. Chi Nan noticed that the person who had been following them got into their car, sat in the front, became the driver, started the engine, and drove off. So now there were only three people in the car: a driver, a person in a windbreaker, and Chi Nan in the back.
“I’m in the car now, surrounded by your people. What do you want, what do you want to do, and who are you? You can tell me now, right?”
Chi Nan stared at the person in the windbreaker. The person in the windbreaker no longer needed to hide. The person in the windbreaker took off the hat, sunglasses, and mask, leaving only a pale face, turned to look at Chi Nan, and greeted him with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile.
“Long time no see, Chi Nan.”
Su Xi smiled coldly, tapping the car window casually with her hands, and asked nonchalantly, “Do you like the gift I gave you?”
The gift Su Xi was referring to was the photo that made Chi Nan’s face change after he saw it in the coffee shop.
Chi Nan looked at Su Xi without speaking. No wonder he felt a familiar feeling when he first heard the voice. It turned out to be an old acquaintance. At first, he saw that the person in the windbreaker was thin, and the wrists and hand bones were also very thin, so he should have thought it would be a woman, but he didn’t expect it to be Su Xi.
Chi Nan tried to divert Su Xi’s attention in a joking tone. There was someone driving in the front, and only the two of them in the back. By diverting Su Xi’s attention, Chi Nan wanted to fight for a chance for himself.
“If you want to see me, you don’t have to go to so much trouble. Just give me a call. Besides, where can’t we reminisce? Why do you have to choose this way?”
As Chi Nan spoke, his right hand was quietly groping at his waist. His phone was unlocked with a fingerprint, and the first contact was Fu Chaoyun. If something really happened, he thought with Fu Chaoyun’s intelligence, he should know to call the police to rescue him.
He could tell that Su Xi wasn’t coming with good intentions. People like her who had fallen to the bottom could do anything. Chi Nan couldn’t guarantee that she wouldn’t do anything drastic. If something really happened, if the rescue wasn’t timely, at least he hoped that Fu Chaoyun could collect his body.
Su Xi glanced at him lightly and knew what Chi Nan was doing. Su Xi smiled and said, “Don’t waste your effort. Why didn’t we confiscate your phone right away? Don’t you understand? There’s a signal jammer in this car. Not only can’t messages be sent, but even phone calls can’t be made. Taking out your phone now is like having a piece of junk, it’s worthless.”
Seeing that his little trick was discovered, Chi Nan simply took his hand out from behind his waist and asked Su Xi as if he were throwing caution to the wind, “Why did you kidnap Yu Jianguo? You don’t have to use such extreme methods to see me, do you? You know that this is illegal. If you’re really investigated, you’ll go to jail. I don’t know how you got out, but it shouldn’t be through normal judicial procedures, right?”
Chi Nan was surprisingly calm at this time. He had already embarked on a path of no return, and he had no way to turn back. He could only try his best to get more information and think of ways to leave marks for others, to delay until the day he was rescued.
“You don’t have to force me like this. It’s not me who wants to see you, it’s someone else. I’m just doing things for money.”
Su Xi rested one hand on the car window. She indeed didn’t get out through normal judicial procedures. She should have stayed inside for a few years, but three days ago, someone came to her and asked her if she wanted to go out, asked her if she hated Yu Jianguo, and if she wanted to take revenge on him.
Of course she wanted to go out. She obviously didn’t make any mistakes. Obviously, those people forced her. Why was she the one who ended up with a ruined reputation, an empty house, and eating prison food? She wanted to go out like crazy. Of course she hated Yu Jianguo. If Yu Jianguo hadn’t threatened her, how could she have threatened Fu Chaoyun, the future head of the Fu family? Not only did she lose both her man and her money, but she also had a miscarriage when her emotions were fluctuating wildly. She hated the men in the world. One by one, they spoke sweet words, but in the end, they would only push her step by step to the cliff. So when that person found her and said that he could not only bring her out, but also give her a sum of money, as long as she helped him with a favor.
Of course Su Xi was willing to do it a hundred times. As long as she could go out, she would do anything. In the end, she really came out. The first thing she did when she came out was to send all the dirty things that Yu Jianguo had done to the Shen family. She didn’t believe that Yu Jianguo, this scumbag, would still be recognized by the Shen family after they knew about it. Sure enough, Shen Chu and Yu Jianguo were arguing endlessly, and they were even getting a divorce. Was this what Su Xi wanted to see? Not entirely, there were other people after all. After all, she had more than one enemy. But Yu Jianguo was the first one she took revenge on.
Chi Nan knew that he couldn’t get anything out of Su Xi’s mouth, so he could only wait for the time to come. He wanted to see who it was who wanted to see him so painstakingly. He, Chi Nan, had never done anything that harmed nature and reason. Sometimes he would even help old grandfathers cross the road. Who was it that threatened him with Yu Jianguo’s photo?
That’s right, the photo was of Yu Jianguo, a Yu Jianguo who was kidnapped, beaten black and blue, and almost unrecognizable. Chi Nan hated Yu Jianguo very much, and even wished Yu Jianguo would die, but when the photo was placed in front of Chi Nan, he couldn’t stand idly by. At least before he was ten years old, Yu Jianguo was a good father and a good husband. Chi Nan didn’t have it, Yu Jianguo gave it all to him. So when Chi Nan saw the photo, he knew that the other party was prepared. If Chi Nan didn’t follow Su Xi today, then the next second he might receive Yu Jianguo’s death certificate.
“You’ve really put a lot of effort into seeing me.”
Chi Nan thought, you’ve really put a lot of effort into seeing him. Were you afraid that he wouldn’t go to this deadly appointment?
The other party had a good grasp of his weakness. He was not a cold-blooded person after all, and he couldn’t ignore Yu Jianguo’s life and death. So now, he was in this car that he didn’t know where it was going, to see Yu Jianguo. Very likely, he would also risk his own life. Chi Nan felt that he must have had a screw loose somewhere, that he would actually get into the car unclearly for someone like Yu Jianguo.
Chi Nan watched as the sky gradually darkened. Since the car drove out, it had been turning and turning, and some of the roads were very difficult to walk on. Moreover, it had been driving for two or three hours. Chi Nan suspected that their destination might not be City A.
In this shaky journey, Chi Nan tried his best to observe the terrain, but his eyes were tired from watching too much, and he couldn’t leave any signals at all. His phone was useless along the way, and he couldn’t receive any messages or phone calls at all. He could only pray now that someone would find out that something had happened to him.
“Don’t worry, we’ll be there soon.”
Su Xi changed her posture and told Chi Nan that their destination was almost there. In another twenty minutes of driving, Chi Nan would see the person who really wanted to see him.
