HUFT Chapter 18
by VolareFu Chaoyun and Lu Cheng caused quite a stir as they walked on the road due to their outstanding appearance. Because of their busy schedules, the students didn’t have time to take a closer look at the two handsome men before being called away to help. For them, it was just a fleeting glimpse.
Chi Nan didn’t check his phone all morning because he was really too busy. Although the centennial celebration was scheduled to start at ten o’clock with only one dedication ceremony, this ceremony was attended not only by alumni but also by some reporters. After all, it was a top-tier university, and even the slightest disturbance would attract attention.
A University’s centennial celebration would also have an evening party, but Chi Nan thought he probably wouldn’t have time to pay attention to it then.
At ten o’clock, the dedication ceremony started on time. Fu Chaoyun and other alumni of his stature were seated by 9:50 AM, in the front row. As soon as Fu Chaoyun and Lu Cheng sat down, sharp-eyed students noticed them, but in such an important occasion, they didn’t disturb Fu Chaoyun, letting him quietly be an alumnus.
The dedication ceremony began with a host to emcee the event. Chi Nan and his team waited in the backstage.
“Teacher Chen, Teacher!”
A student ran in from another direction, still catching her breath, to find Teacher Chen.
While waiting backstage, Chi Nan had nothing to do, so he quietly followed Teacher Chen’s side. But when he heard the student panting and running over to find Teacher Chen, he had a feeling that something bad had happened.
“What’s wrong? What happened?”
Teacher Chen handed the student a bottle of mineral water, asking her to explain clearly.
“Xiao Xiao is having stomach problems and is very weak. She probably can’t perform.”
“What?”
“I’ll go take a look.”
Teacher Chen was a little surprised and then went to see the student named Xiao Xiao. This student was supposed to splash a basin of clear water on a piece of paper at the end, revealing words of blessing. This was a terrible time for something to go wrong.
Chi Nan also followed Teacher Chen to take a look. Xiao Xiao’s face was pale, and she spoke weakly. She probably couldn’t perform.
“Rest well, the teacher will figure out something for the dedication ceremony.”
Teacher Chen comforted Xiao Xiao and returned to the backstage, glancing at the students who followed her, looking around. Her selfish thought was to let Chi Nan go up. Showing his face in front of the school leaders would be more or less helpful in the future. Whether it was an activity or an opportunity to attend, Chi Nan would be considered first. But Teacher Chen felt that she had already asked Chi Nan to do so many things, and she would be embarrassed to trouble him again. But among the remaining students, no one could surpass Chi Nan in terms of outstanding appearance.
This dedication ceremony, though not a big deal, represented the face of their Art Institute. It was definitely necessary to choose someone outstanding, and Teacher Chen didn’t have an idea for a moment.
Chi Nan noticed Teacher Chen’s predicament. He originally wanted to wait and see if anyone would volunteer, but after waiting for a while and no one did, Chi Nan spoke.
“Teacher, I’ll go.”
Chi Nan’s voice was gentle, but at this time, it gave people a sense of determination.
“Can you?”
Teacher Chen asked Chi Nan.
“There’s no reason why I can’t. I’ll go change my clothes first.”
Chi Nan smiled, and then Teacher Chen arranged for someone to find him clothes. Because Chi Nan wasn’t supposed to go on stage, he was only wearing casual clothes. But going on stage definitely couldn’t be like this, so Chi Nan changed into a school uniform. Their school uniform was a white shirt and a pair of loose suit pants.
Chi Nan tucked the shirt into the suit pants, giving others a different feeling.
When the host called out the Art Department, the other students first came on stage to unfold the drawings, and finally, Chi Nan splashed a glass of water on the canvas, and the original white cloth showed the words “Happy Birthday A University.”
Fu Chaoyun smiled the moment he saw Chi Nan come out. He didn’t expect that there would be a “kid” in this dedication ceremony. He heard the “kid” tell him before that he didn’t need to go on stage.
“That’s the kid you mentioned?”
Lu Cheng noticed it first, then looked at Fu Chaoyun’s reaction to confirm.
“How did you know?”
Fu Chaoyun turned to look at his friend.
“From the moment he came out, you smiled like a flower, as if you couldn’t wait for the whole world to know.”
“Is it that obvious?”
Fu Chaoyun also touched his chin and asked Lu Cheng. He didn’t think he was that obvious.
After Chi Nan and his team finished performing, they went off stage. The remaining time was left to the host. When the dedication ceremony was almost over, Fu Chaoyun and Lu Cheng wanted to say goodbye to their teacher. After all, Fu Chaoyun had other tasks. When they found the teacher, the teacher was leading other teachers from other departments, followed by several students, talking about something.
“Teacher.”
Fu Chaoyun and Lu Cheng went over to say hello. The teacher was very excited to see them, and Fu Chaoyun also saw Chi Nan in the back at a glance.
The reason why Chi Nan appeared here was because he showed his face in the dedication ceremony. Probably, Teacher Chen felt that he was a promising student, so she wanted to introduce him to people. Therefore, Chi Nan was always following behind Teacher Chen.
Fu Chaoyun originally wanted to say hello to the teacher and leave, but now it seemed that even if he wanted to leave, Chi Nan probably couldn’t leave. So Fu Chaoyun suggested that A University had changed so much, and he wanted to stroll around the campus. The teacher happily agreed, fearing that Fu Chaoyun would get lost, so she wanted a student to take Fu Chaoyun around. Fu Chaoyun smiled and told the teacher that he was too embarrassed to trouble them, but no one knew that this was his inner thought. In the end, Fu Chaoyun chose Chi Nan, who had been in the back, to take him around the campus.
Chi Nan was a little distracted at first, and then somehow, he was assigned the task of taking the senior alumnus around the campus. Chi Nan turned his head and saw Fu Chaoyun. He didn’t expect that Fu Chaoyun was their alumnus.
“Then teacher, we’ll go first.”
“Go ahead.”
The two turned a corner and stopped. Now was their time alone, and Fu Chaoyun didn’t know how to start.
“Do you remember me?”
Accustomed to playing the male lead in popular romance dramas, he used the lamest opening.
“I remember. I didn’t expect that we were actually alumni.”
“You.”
Fu Chaoyun wanted to say something, but he couldn’t say it, so he took out his phone and sent a message to Nan Chi Ru Jiang.
Chi Nan’s phone rang. But Chi Nan didn’t plan to read the message.
“Take a look.”
“Oh, okay.”
Chi Nan felt a little strange. Wasn’t this Fu Chaoyun supposed to have him show him around the campus? Why did he stop walking and start playing with his phone? Were all big stars so weird?
Chi Nan opened his phone and glanced at the message. It was a message from Uncle Fu.
[We have met.]
Chi Nan exclaimed in surprise and then glanced at the people around him. Uncle Fu sent him a message saying they had met. Was Uncle Fu also at A University? Was he an alumnus of A University? Chi Nan’s heart was set on going home. He only wanted to walk around to see if there was any sign of Uncle Fu.
Chi Nan looked around. There were many students passing by, but Chi Nan felt that none of them fit Uncle Fu’s description.
Fu Chaoyun watched Chi Nan look left and right, but he didn’t notice the person in front of him. Fu Chaoyun sighed. His surname was Fu, and he was right in front of Chi Nan, but Chi Nan didn’t think of him. Then Fu Chaoyun spoke.
“Chi Nan.”
At that moment, Chi Nan heard the sound of trickling water, each sound flowing into his heart.
“Chi Nan, I am Uncle Fu.”
