Chapter 20

That evening, Chi Nan received a message from Fu Chaoyun on his phone.

    [Are you free now?]

Chi Nan glanced at it but didn’t reply. After about a minute, Fu Chaoyun called. Chi Nan hung up. He called again, and Chi Nan hung up again.

Chi Nan’s original thought was that if Uncle Fu called again, he would answer. But after waiting for a while, no more calls came.

Chi Nan pouted. They had a good talk during the day, and he even said he would compensate him with Uncle Fu. He just hung up twice, and he was just being a little temperamental and a little proud. If Uncle Fu called again, he would have answered, but there was no next call.

Chi Nan’s phone received a message.

[Come downstairs. If you don’t come down, I’m coming up.]

The moment Chi Nan received the message, he was incredibly excited. He quickly ran to the window and looked outside, but it was too dark to see anything. As if Fu Chaoyun sensed it, he turned on the flashlight on his phone and waved it upward.

    “It really is Uncle Fu.”

Chi Nan muttered to himself, then put on his shoes and went downstairs, afraid of being late.

Fu Chaoyun was wearing a mask and waiting for Chi Nan downstairs. Some passersby glanced at him more than once.

Chi Nan ran very fast on the stairs. When he reached the bottom, he slowed his breathing and slowly walked to Fu Chaoyun’s side. Seeing Chi Nan come down so quickly, Fu Chaoyun knew he had run down.

“Running so fast, aren’t you tired?”

Seeing his little thoughts exposed, Chi Nan pretended not to be angry and said very proudly,

“What do you want me for?”

Fu Chaoyun magically pulled a drink from the bag.

“I didn’t know what you liked to drink, so I just bought a random cup.”

Fu Chaoyun handed it to Chi Nan.

Chi Nan glanced at it. It was his favorite milk tea from that shop, and you had to wait in a long line.

“Can you accompany me to stroll around A University’s campus? I haven’t strolled around in a long time.”

Fu Chaoyun brought it up first, and Chi Nan felt a little touched because this idea was something he had suggested one day. He had suggested that he hoped Uncle Fu could accompany him to stroll around the campus. He didn’t expect Fu Chaoyun to remember.

    “Okay.”

Chi Nan held the milk tea in his left hand and walked slowly beside Fu Chaoyun. He was indeed a little thirsty and wanted to poke open the milk tea, but the current milk teas all used paper straws, which were not easy to poke open. Chi Nan tried once but couldn’t open it, so he thought about drinking it when he got back.

    “Let me do it.”

Fu Chaoyun took the milk tea from Chi Nan’s hand, gently poked it with the straw, and then handed it to Chi Nan.

    “Thank you.”

Chi Nan softly said thank you and took small sips of the milk tea. Fu Chaoyun heard it and only smiled slightly. The two of them were silent, but just walking on this small road, Chi Nan felt a lot more relaxed. During this time, he also secretly glanced at Fu Chaoyun. Although Fu Chaoyun was wearing a hat and mask, all of Chi Nan’s little actions and thoughts could be discovered by Fu Chaoyun.

Chi Nan thought that Fu Chaoyun was really, little by little, fulfilling the things Uncle Fu had promised him. Chi Nan’s heart felt like a stream flowing through it, warming his heart.

“You said back then that seeing others in pairs made you want someone to accompany you. Now I’m accompanying you to stroll around the campus. Are you a little happier?”

Fu Chaoyun talked to Chi Nan as they walked.

“Not just a little happier, there’s also more unhappiness.”

Chi Nan’s voice was a little small, but Fu Chaoyun still heard it. Fu Chaoyun was very happy. At least this could allow Fu Chaoyun to start the next step. He would circle the little guy into his arms step by step.

“Do you have class tomorrow? Do you want to go to the amusement park?”

    Fu Chaoyun asked Chi Nan.

“How old am I? Still going to the amusement park?”

“No matter how old, you’re still my little kid.”

Fu Chaoyun reached out and ruffled Chi Nan’s hair. The feel of the little kid’s hair was exactly what he had imagined. When he saw the little kid’s fluffy hair, he wanted to grab it. Now he really grabbed it, and not only grabbed it, but he also kissed it today.

    “Don’t always touch my hair.”

Chi Nan disliked it and hit Fu Chaoyun’s hand. Fu Chaoyun smiled and let go. The little kid was embarrassed.

“Then if you’re free tomorrow, I’ll pick you up to go to the amusement park.”

Chi Nan wanted to nod, but he felt that with Fu Chaoyun’s status, could he really go out with him during the day to a place like an amusement park? There were so many people, would it have any impact on Fu Chaoyun?

“Tomorrow, if you go out, won’t there be any impact?”

“What kind of impact are you talking about?”

    “Like, rumors and stuff.”

After Chi Nan finished speaking, he heard Fu Chaoyun chuckle lightly, knowing that he had been tricked. Chi Nan clicked his tongue. Fu Chaoyun, this old fox, his words were simply traps.

“Actually, I can bring my big nephew along. Taking a nephew like you out, I think it’s still very pleasing to the eye.”

Chi Nan didn’t say anything else. The two of them walked around almost the entire campus. Walking for more than an hour was definitely tiring. Fu Chaoyun circled around and sent Chi Nan to the downstairs of his dormitory.

“Then I’ll pick you up tomorrow.”

    “Okay.”

After Chi Nan said okay, he was about to leave, reluctantly looking back. He felt that Fu Chaoyun had made this move, wouldn’t he really say anything to him? So Chi Nan took three steps and looked back, seeing that Fu Chaoyun really didn’t have the slightest intention of calling him back, he quickened his pace and walked back.

    “Chi Nan.”

    Fu Chaoyun called out.

    “Ah?”

Chi Nan stopped in place. Fu Chaoyun walked step by step towards Chi Nan, handing the bag he had been carrying all the way to Chi Nan.

“Happy Children’s Day. I had already prepared it to give to you, but there were some unexpected things. It’s not too late to give it to you now. Go back.”

Chi Nan looked at the bag Fu Chaoyun gave him and said happy Children’s Day.

“Why do you want to wish me a happy Children’s Day?”

    Chi Nan asked Fu Chaoyun.

“Didn’t I say it? You’re a little kid. No matter how old you are, you’re still my little kid. How can an obedient and sensible little kid not have a Children’s Day gift?”

Chi Nan kept his head down, wanting to cry a little. Why was his tear threshold so low recently? Chi Nan hated his lack of ambition. From the age of ten, no one remembered that he was still a child. At ten years old, he no longer had Children’s Day. It had been a long time since anyone had said happy Children’s Day to him.

“Fu Chaoyun, you said you would compensate me with Uncle Fu, is that true?”

Chi Nan kept suppressing himself, afraid of not being able to control his tears, and didn’t look up.

    “It’s true.”

“Then if you lie to me, I’ll never want Uncle Fu again.”

    “I won’t lie to you.”

Fu Chaoyun noticed that the little kid’s situation was a little wrong, so he comforted the little kid, but every sentence was Fu Chaoyun’s heartfelt words.

    “Uncle Fu.”

Chi Nan couldn’t control himself anymore. Tears were like money, and he suddenly threw himself into Fu Chaoyun’s arms, tightly hugging Fu Chaoyun. Fu Chaoyun took a step back because of the impact, steadily catching the teenager who had thrown himself into his arms.
