HUFT Chapter 37
by VolareChapter 37
“So, if we invite Movie Emperor Fu to join you on stage, what would you do?”
This question momentarily stunned Chi Nan. Would assistants even get the chance to be on stage with a movie emperor? Chi Nan thought for a moment; some variety shows do film behind-the-scenes footage, which might include the staff.
“I will highly respect all the guests invited by the production team.”
Chi Nan answered conservatively. The interviewers asked a few other questions that weren’t particularly unusual. After Chi Nan finished answering, he didn’t immediately receive notification of whether he was hired. They just told him to go home and wait for news. After Chi Nan finished his interview and went outside, he saw that many more people had come to interview, and their looks amazed him.
“Are the appearance requirements for variety show assistants this high now?”
Chi Nan muttered quietly to himself. He didn’t even know if he had been selected. Since they gave him an interview opportunity, he should cherish it. Chi Nan didn’t dwell on this matter. However, a text message was sent to his phone, telling him to go for a second interview.
Chi Nan went for the second interview on time. After he came out, someone stopped him and wanted to sign a contract with him. Chi Nan picked up the contract and glanced at it briefly. There were no major problems, and even the salary was very high and considerable.
After Chi Nan signed, he jokingly said to the person in charge of signing the contract next to him, “Are assistant salaries this high now?”
Chi Nan signed the last stroke, put down the pen, and handed the contract to the staff member.
“Yes, wait, weren’t you here to audition as a non-celebrity?”
The staff member who had just received the contract was a little confused and specially looked at the status of the contract. It was indeed a contract for a non-celebrity.
Chi Nan noticed the staff member’s hesitation and realized that something was wrong. He then took back his contract and carefully reviewed it. It was indeed a non-celebrity contract.
It was a mistake. This whole thing was a mistake from the beginning. He was here to interview as an assistant, not a non-celebrity.
“Is there a way to cancel this contract?”
Chi Nan asked.
“That definitely won’t work. Once you’ve signed, it’s legally binding. Why don’t you go ask the director and explain your situation?”
The staff member didn’t expect such a blunder to happen and told Chi Nan to go find the director himself. Chi Nan knew that the staff member probably didn’t have the authority to decide, so he knocked on the interview room door again.
Chi Nan explained his situation. He thought he was here to interview as an assistant, but it turned out he was being interviewed as a non-celebrity. The director thought Chi Nan was very good and wanted Chi Nan to consider it again. If he really became popular on the variety show, he could enter the entertainment industry.
Chi Nan was a little tempted by what was said. He did plan to learn about Fu Chaoyun’s life, but that didn’t include disrupting Fu Chaoyun’s life. The director also saw that Chi Nan was hesitating, knowing that he was swayed by his words, so he told Chi Nan to think about it first. If he really chose to be an assistant, that would also be possible. Finally, he left Chi Nan his phone number, so he could tell him once he had decided.
Chi Nan went back and thought about it. When he had a video call with Uncle Fu that night, he tentatively asked Uncle Fu what he thought about him really entering the entertainment industry.
After Chi Nan finished speaking, he saw that Uncle Fu’s side was a bit silent. Then, Fu Chaoyun slowly opened his mouth.
“I support all your decisions, but you have to think carefully. The entertainment industry isn’t as glamorous as it seems on the surface. Behind it, there’s darkness you can’t imagine. If you really want to enter the entertainment industry, you have to be prepared. I hope this is a decision you’ve made after careful consideration.”
Chi Nan felt very warm after hearing Uncle Fu’s words. Uncle Fu wasn’t unilaterally demanding anything from him; he was always supporting him.
“Then, what if I enter the entertainment industry and steal all your fans?”
Chi Nan said in a half-joking tone, then heard Fu Chaoyun say, “That proves I have good taste, having hidden you, this treasure, in the palm of my hand beforehand.”
Chi Nan’s heart warmed after hearing this. He jokingly called Fu Chaoyun an old rogue. Before hanging up, Chi Nan heard Uncle Fu say, “Regarding entering the entertainment industry, as Uncle Fu, I hope you can face it yourself, but also as your boyfriend, I will give you the greatest convenience.”
Chi Nan fell into deep thought after seeing this sentence sent by Fu Chaoyun. If he really was going to be with Uncle Fu in the future, he would definitely face many storms. First of all, he couldn’t avoid the impact on the internet. He couldn’t hide behind Fu Chaoyun forever, letting Fu Chaoyun solve all the problems for him. Love is a matter for two people; he couldn’t let Fu Chaoyun face it alone. But entering the entertainment industry didn’t mean he had become stronger; it just meant he had the courage to stand shoulder to shoulder with Fu Chaoyun.
Chi Nan told the director about his final decision to be a non-celebrity. After the two coordinated the time and signed the contract again, Chi Nan arrived early the next day. After signing the contract, he took a photo and sent it to Uncle Fu, telling Uncle Fu that next time there were difficulties, they would face them together.
As soon as Chi Nan’s photo was sent, before he could finish typing the words in the text box and send them, he received a call from Uncle Fu.
“Is this the contract for ‘See Me Shine’?”
Fu Chaoyun was helping a director with a cameo role on set at the time. The role wasn’t very heavy, just a few shots.
“Yeah, I want to see what kind of scenery is in the world you’re in, so I can face it with you in the future.”
“You’ve thought it through?”
“I’ve thought it through.”
“No regrets?”
Fu Chaoyun asked again, and then he heard Chi Nan’s voice on the other end, sounding a little deflated.
“Even if I wanted to regret it, I can’t. I don’t have the money to pay the penalty for breach of contract.”
“Is there anything wrong with the contract? Send it to me to take a look.”
Fu Chaoyun hung up and asked Chi Nan to send him the contract. He looked at the contract for Chi Nan. There weren’t any major problems, except that the salary for a non-celebrity was still lower than that of an actor. Non-celebrities don’t have a management company, so Chi Nan would be assigned an assistant. Fu Chaoyun looked at everything in detail, then asked Little Zhu next to him about the variety show.
After hearing this, Little Zhu started to explain to Brother Fu. “See Me Shine” is a challenge show with 4 celebrities and 3 non-celebrities. Because there will be some fun activities, the show’s guests will have many couples. Little Zhu also specially explained to Brother Fu what a couple is. The national recognition is also very high. Last year, two non-celebrities directly became traffic stars, and it also helped some second- and third-tier actors regain popularity. The most important thing is that the program team’s requirement is high appearance, very high. Everyone on the show is simply comparable to a talent show center.
