HUFT Chapter 17
by VolareChapter 17
Fu Chaoyun looked at the message and fell into deep thought. Meeting meant his identity as Fu Chaoyun would be exposed. But if he didn’t expose it, there was no telling when it would end. He couldn’t keep using the identity of “Uncle Fu” to talk to Chi Nan online. Sooner or later, they would break through this facade and return to reality. It couldn’t always be “Uncle Fu” and Chi Nan.
[Okay]
Fu Chaoyun typed “Okay” with an unknown emotion. Was it the reality he would face sooner or later, or an illusion after escaping reality? Both were embarrassing, but he had to break it.
When Chi Nan saw the message, he didn’t expect Uncle Fu to agree. He thought Uncle Fu wouldn’t agree or would use other reasons to brush off the meeting. But the reality was a straightforward “Okay”. Chi Nan was happy. It meant that maybe someone would go to the amusement park with him and take walks.
[Uncle Fu, I’m looking forward to the day we meet a little]
Chi Nan sent the message, and Fu Chaoyun pressed the voice input.
“Me too, kiddo.”
When Chi Nan listened to the voice message, the words “kiddo” somehow made his ears turn red, and he felt his heart beating a little faster.
Did he blush and have a fast heartbeat when Uncle Fu called him “kiddo” before? Chi Nan thought about it. It didn’t seem like it. Was it because Uncle Fu sent this sentence in a voice message, so he had a feeling of excitement?
“What kind of person will Uncle Fu be?”
Chi Nan couldn’t help but wonder while sleeping, what kind of person would Uncle Fu be? Would he have a high nose bridge and deep eyes? And eight-pack abs? Would Uncle Fu be ugly? But from his voice, he seemed pretty young, so he shouldn’t be too old.
“After chatting for so long, I still don’t know Uncle Fu’s name or age.”
Chi Nan decided that he must subtly ask Uncle Fu tomorrow, and fell asleep with these questions in mind.
Fu Chaoyun checked the time. May 21st, there was still some time before June 1st. It was the school anniversary and also Children’s Day. Since he was still a child, he must celebrate Children’s Day. Fu Chaoyun didn’t know what to give a child for Children’s Day, but he should bring a gift on the first day he met him.
At this time, Fu Chaoyun’s assistant, Little Zhu, was particularly important.
“Hello, Fu-ge.”
“What kind of gifts do children usually want for Children’s Day on June 1st?”
Little Zhu looked at the caller. It was indeed their Fu-ge. He felt more and more confused every time he answered the phone. He couldn’t understand the questions Fu-ge asked.
“For Children’s Day on June 1st, kids usually like toys, right? Boys get toy cars, girls get Barbie dolls.”
“Not a real child, just a 19-year-old kiddo.”
Fu Chaoyun conveyed his meaning, and Little Zhu was just…
What? What are you talking about? You’re calling a 19-year-old adult a child, a kiddo?
Little Zhu was roaring inside. He really wanted to tell Fu-ge to go get his brain checked, or maybe Little Zhu should get his brain checked. Had he been out of touch with the times because he hadn’t been working and had no internet lately?
“Hurry up and tell me, what do they like?”
“Probably, candy? They usually get some candy on Children’s Day, right?”
Little Zhu racked his brains and couldn’t think of anything else. The only thing he could think of was candy, and giving candy on Children’s Day wasn’t that strange, so Little Zhu reluctantly gave an answer.
“Got it.”
Fu Chaoyun, having gotten his answer, hung up the phone. Little Zhu looked at the disconnected phone and decided to wash his face with cold water to sober up.
Fu Chaoyun flipped through his friends list and made a call directly, asking a friend to bring back some imported chocolate when they returned to the country.
As the school anniversary approached, it was the most exciting time on campus. Because it was A University’s 100th anniversary, the campus was exceptionally lively, and many alumni were invited to visit. The entire school could be said to have been completely renovated, with the streets on both sides cleaned, the windows wiped clean, and even the fallen leaves in the forest swept together. There were also released hot air balloons, and the largest lecture stage in the school had already been set up.
Chi Nan had been particularly busy these days, following Teacher Chen to finalize the final product, as well as a short video animation, and the final splash-ink calligraphy, all of which they had to prepare. Chi Nan had been running around these days, and the time he spent talking to Uncle Fu was particularly short, only ten minutes at night, and sometimes he even fell asleep while talking.
It seemed that the meeting they had mentioned a few days ago was just casual, and neither of them had mentioned it again. Chi Nan didn’t know when Uncle Fu’s “if we are destined, we will meet” would happen. Maybe it was today, or maybe it was tomorrow, or maybe it was next year. In short, Chi Nan was still looking forward to the meeting.
For the school anniversary, everyone was afraid of making mistakes and put in all their effort. And Fu Chaoyun was also putting in all his effort. He and Chi Nan had been talking online for a month, and today was the day of the school anniversary, and also the day Uncle Fu would meet the kiddo.
When he went out in the morning, Fu Chaoyun rummaged through his wardrobe, found a white shirt, casually rolled up the sleeves, and paired it with a pair of dress pants. He didn’t wear a jacket, which made him look somewhat formal and somewhat casual. Before going out, he specially sprayed on some cologne. Although spraying cologne made a person seem a bit fussy, Fu Chaoyun was fully prepared for this meeting. He wore a wristwatch on his wrist, which made him look mature and generous.
He looked in the mirror for seven or eight minutes, and only went out after Fu Chaoyun felt that there were no problems. He had never dressed up so carefully when attending award ceremonies. He grabbed the keys, went downstairs, and drove to the front of A University. When Fu Chaoyun arrived at the gate of A University, he didn’t get out of the car first, but waited for Lu Cheng and looked at the message he received from Chi Nan this morning.
[Uncle Fu, the school anniversary is today, I might be busy, I’ll reply to you later]
Fu Chaoyun’s fingers tapped on the steering wheel and replied with an “Okay”.
He also thought about some things. Today was Children’s Day, and he didn’t know what Chi Nan liked to eat, but children seemed to like candy, so Fu Chaoyun asked a friend to bring some chocolate from abroad. This was something Fu Chaoyun decided after Chi Nan told him about the meeting.
Fu Chaoyun waited in the car for about ten minutes, and Lu Cheng’s call came, telling Fu Chaoyun that he had arrived.
Fu Chaoyun got out of the car, locked the door, temporarily put the gift in the car, put on a mask, and went in with Lu Cheng.
