Chapter 13

“Chi Nan, let’s go, stop looking at your phone.”

Zhang Fang called out to Chi Nan, who was still looking at his phone behind him, to prevent him from falling behind.

    “Coming.”

Chi Nan put his phone in his pocket, jogged two steps to catch up with his roommates, and after walking for more than ten minutes, they arrived at the hot pot restaurant. The reservation had been made long ago, and the proprietress saw them coming in, smiling and leading them inside.

“The moment you guys walk in, my business gets better.”

The proprietress greeted Chi Nan and the others with a smile, and also brought a pen and a menu for them to tick off the soup base and ingredients they liked.

“Your business is already good, it’s not like we’re the ones attracting customers.”

The menu was passed around in a circle, and before it reached Chi Nan’s hands, he chatted with the proprietress for a few words.

“You have such a sweet mouth, I’ll give you guys a few cans of drinks later.”

    “Thank you, proprietress.”

After Chi Nan finished ticking, he handed the menu to the proprietress. Before long, the yin-yang hot pot base they ordered was brought up, followed by various ingredients, as well as the drinks the proprietress promised to give them.

The heat of the hot pot rising up, and the meat simmering in the pot, all made Chi Nan’s appetite increase greatly. Thinking about it carefully, he hadn’t had hot pot in a long time, so it was a good opportunity to have a hearty meal.

“Nan Nan, a girl in our department asked me for your WeChat, should I give it to her?”

Zhang Fang put a piece of meat into his bowl, and also asked about Chi Nan’s WeChat.

    “Mmm mmm.”

Chi Nan had just put a piece of meat in his mouth, which was quite hot, so he couldn’t speak very fluently. What he actually said was no, but it came out as mmm mmm.

    “Huh?”

    Zhang Fang asked in confusion.

After Chi Nan swallowed the meat, he took a breath and then opened his mouth to answer Zhang Fang.

    “No.”

“So many pretty girls want your WeChat, but you don’t give it, could it be that you like men, Nan Nan?”

After Zhang Fang said this, the air suddenly froze for a moment, no one was talking, it seemed like no one was breathing.

Jiang Chen was the first to notice something was wrong, and kicked Zhang Fang under the table, and Zhang Fang realized that he seemed to have said something he shouldn’t have.

“Nan Nan, I’m clumsy with words, I didn’t mean that.”

Zhang Fang hurriedly apologized, while Chi Nan didn’t speak because he seemed to be unsure whether he liked men or not. He had never liked anyone in his life.

    “It’s okay, let’s continue eating.”

This topic wasn’t a taboo topic for Chi Nan. Liking men wasn’t a big deal. Even if he liked men, he didn’t know who he liked. At this moment, a person popped up in Chi Nan’s mind. Could it be Uncle Fu? But he and Uncle Fu hadn’t even met, so how could he be sure that he liked him? This was really vexing.

Chi Nan sighed in his heart. Right now, Uncle Fu was still very cold.

    “Eat, eat, eat.”

Zhang Fang continued the topic and continued eating. The group didn’t disperse until after 9 p.m. There were snacks in the dormitory, so they didn’t buy anything, and entered through the school gate. The rest was taking turns to shower and then going to bed. After Chi Nan finished showering, he opened the app and looked at the message Uncle Fu sent him.

    [What did you eat?]

The message was received more than an hour ago, but he didn’t notice it while he was eating hot pot. If he gave Uncle Fu a voice call now, would Uncle Fu answer it? It was a bit like a sudden attack.

Chi Nan was struggling in his heart. If he called Uncle Fu and Uncle Fu didn’t answer, he would say that he accidentally pressed it. But what if Uncle Fu answered?

Wouldn’t it be best if he answered? Then he could hear Uncle Fu’s voice.

    “Hoo hoo.”

Chi Nan took two deep breaths, then put on his slippers and went to the balcony, holding the earphones in his hand. After connecting the phone and the earphones, Chi Nan chose the voice call option.

    One second

    Two seconds

    Three seconds

No one answered. It was only a few seconds, but Chi Nan’s heart was uneasy. He thought that if Uncle Fu didn’t answer in ten seconds, he would hang up.

    Ten

    Nine

    ……

    Two

    “Hello?”

A somewhat low and dull voice like a cello exploded in Chi Nan’s ears.

Uncle Fu answered his voice call!

If there were fireworks right now, then Chi Nan would have set off clusters and clusters of fireworks, which were extremely dazzling. If Chi Nan wasn’t afraid of making too much noise, he would have wanted to do a set of Chen-style Tai Chi around the balcony to express his joy.

    “Hello, Fu, Mr.”

The bolder Chi Nan was when chatting, the more cowardly he was when making voice calls.

And when Fu Chaoyun heard this slightly stuttering address, the corners of his mouth turned up. When typing, wasn’t this kid quite imposing, why was he a bit cowardly now, and even calling himself, Mr. Fu.

“Why aren’t you calling me Uncle Fu, kid?”

Chi Nan was a little flushed by this, and very embarrassed.

“I’ll call you whatever I want.”

Chi Nan felt that he was very domineering when he said this, but in Fu Chaoyun’s ears, it sounded a bit coquettish.

After Chi Nan finished speaking, he saw that Uncle Fu didn’t reply to him, so he asked Uncle Fu.

“Uncle Fu, were you busy all day today?”

    “Not bad.”

Hearing such a reply, Chi Nan complained in his heart that he was really indifferent, but it was already very good that Uncle Fu could answer his phone.

“Uncle Fu, did I bother you by calling you?”

Fu Chaoyun glanced at his script. How should he put it? Fu Chaoyun hated being disturbed when he was reading a script. For him, reading a script in a quiet environment made it easier to enter the atmosphere, which was very helpful for integrating into the role in the script. So when Fu Chaoyun heard the phone ring, he didn’t plan to answer it. He looked up inadvertently and realized that it was Chi Nan calling. He hesitated for a while whether to answer it or not, and finally took the phone next to him.

    “No.”

Fu Chaoyun’s face didn’t blush and his heart didn’t beat, he put down the script at hand, walked from the desk to the French window, holding the phone in his right hand, overlooking the outside of the window.

“Then Uncle Fu, can I call you when I have nothing to do? I think your voice is quite nice.”

And, I have a lot to say to you.

Chi Nan didn’t say these words.

Fu Chaoyun thought for a while, rubbed his eyebrows. Regarding the relationship between him and Chi Nan, he thought about it for an afternoon but couldn’t figure it out. Instead, the more he thought about it, the more upset he became. Just at this time, his manager sent him a script and asked him if he was interested in reading it. That’s when he sorted out his upset mood that afternoon and prepared to take a good look at the script. As a result, Chi Nan’s call came, disturbing this pool of spring water.

“If it’s not okay, then forget it.”

Chi Nan’s voice unconsciously carried a bit of grievance. He might not have felt it himself, but it was clearly heard in Fu Chaoyun’s ears, as if he had bullied a child.

    “Okay.”

    Fu Chaoyun said.
