Chapter 11

Fu Chaoyun found a relatively low-profile car in his garage and drove to Fu Shi’s residence, Xin Yuan. Today was the last day of the May Day holiday, and his little niece was clamoring to see him. Both he and Fu Shi had some free time today.

As Fu Chaoyun drove, Chi Nan brought up the video of yesterday’s presentation. This time, he could be said to be in charge of the main drawing, and he had to handle some details well. He only had a simple line drawing in his mind now, and it would probably take some time to finish this painting. After he finished, others would need to take over, so time was tight. The teacher also hoped that he would submit the draft tomorrow.

It took Fu Chaoyun a full hour and a half to drive from his Huai Hai Apartments to Fu Shi’s Xin Yuan. His and Fu Shi’s residences could be said to be at opposite ends of the city, one in the city center, a prime location, and the other also in a prime location, but not in the city center, where it was too crowded and not suitable for Fu Chaoyun.

Fu Chaoyun parked his car downstairs at Fu Shi’s house, picked up the gift he bought for his little niece, and went upstairs.

    “Uncle.”

Before Fu Chaoyun even reached the door, he was bumped into by a little girl.

“Slow down, is your leg all better again?”

Fu Chaoyun said to Wen Ci, then went back into the house and saw his sister, Fu Shi, preparing lunch.

“You actually have time today? Aren’t you usually very busy?”

Fu Shi washed her hands and brought out some fruit from the kitchen.

“It’s okay, I came to see Wen Ci.”

“Uncle, I want to play with your phone for a while.”

Fu Chaoyun took his phone out of his pocket and handed it to Wen Ci, telling her not to send random messages, and then gave it to her. Wen Ci went into the room to play.

“Did you confiscate her phone again?”

Fu Chaoyun knew as soon as Wen Ci asked for his phone that his sister had taken Wen Ci’s phone away and wouldn’t let her play.

“Her grades have been dropping badly lately, so I took it away.”

“Have you been sleeping badly lately? Look how haggard your face is.”

“Then you come back and manage the company, and I’ll be able to sleep well.”

Fu Shi wanted to say a few words when she saw Fu Chaoyun, but after saying that, Fu Chaoyun stopped talking. Fu Shi had indeed been a bit tired these past few days, and her head felt heavy.

“Mom and Dad might not be back in a few days. Get ready to attend Old Master Shen’s 70th birthday celebration.”

“What am I going to do there? I don’t know the Shen family. Why would I go?”

Fu Chaoyun immediately refused. He didn’t like the scheming in the business world, so he plunged into the entertainment industry. With the Fu family protecting him, Fu Chaoyun had been relatively successful these years, and his identity had been hidden quite well. Even the fact that he was the son of Fu Cheng, the richest man in City A, was unknown.

“The company will definitely be handed over to you in the future.”

Fu Shi had a headache. Every time she talked to her younger brother about this, he looked like he was refusing. Fu Shi couldn’t persuade him either.

“I don’t want it, I don’t care. Besides, I think you’re managing it very well.”

Fu Chaoyun was a bit childish at this moment, “I don’t want it, I don’t care. It’s no use whatever you say, I just won’t listen.”

For Fu Chaoyun, Fu Shi was not only a sister. When Fu Chaoyun was little, he rarely saw Fu Cheng and his mother. His father was busy with the company every day, and his mother was busy helping his father with the company. In Fu Chaoyun’s memory, Fu Shi mostly took care of him, even when Fu Shi was just a teenager and still had to take care of him, a little bean sprout. Fortunately, there were many nannies at home at the time, so Fu Chaoyun got by smoothly.

Later, Fu Shi unexpectedly had Wen Ci. Fu Cheng and his mother didn’t know who the child’s father was, and Fu Shi didn’t want to abort the child. They realized that they had been neglecting their two children all these years because they had been managing the company, so they directly stepped down and handed over the company entirely to Fu Shi, wanting to cultivate a relationship with their siblings. But the two children didn’t know who they took after; they were both reluctant to talk, both putting on a cold facade. His father and mother didn’t care either, and directly let Fu Chaoyun grow up freely, while they went abroad to travel.

Fu Chaoyun mostly listened to Fu Shi’s decisions, but the two had a disagreement about managing the company.

“If you don’t want to, then you don’t have to. I’m still young, I’ll manage it for another two years.”

Fu Shi had a headache with her younger brother, but she couldn’t ignore him.

“They can both let go and travel. You can also take Wen Ci to travel. I’ve made enough money from filming these years for you to spend. I’ll support you and Wen Ci.”

“Don’t talk about it, let me see if the food is ready.”

Fu Shi promptly skipped the topic. She had been taking care of Wen Ci alone all these years while also managing the company. She didn’t want to be like her parents, lacking love for her child, so no matter what stage of Wen Ci’s life, Fu Shi was with her. She didn’t want Wen Ci to have any regrets.

“Wen Ci, it’s time to eat.”

It was best to deal with issues when they arose. Fu Shi washed her hands and called out to Wen Ci in the room.

    “Okay, coming.”

    Wen Ci replied.

“Little brother, my mom is calling me to eat. I’m going to stop talking to you now.”

After Wen Ci sent the message to Nan Chi Ru Jiang, she went downstairs and took her uncle’s phone down with her.

Wen Ci originally wanted to play a few games when she got her uncle’s phone, but after looking around, she found the app she had downloaded last time. She remembered that her uncle had told her very sternly not to play with this kind of unknown software, but she didn’t expect her uncle to start playing with it first.

Wen Ci glanced at her uncle’s matching list. It was just Nan Chi Ru Jiang from beginning to end, and it was Wen Ci who had matched him at the time. She didn’t expect her uncle to actually be chatting with someone.

Wen Ci knew that she couldn’t just casually look at other people’s chats, so she quit the app and wanted to play games. But at this moment, Chi Nan happened to send a message to Uncle Fu.

Wen Ci replied to Chi Nan with a voice message, telling him that her uncle’s phone was in her hands now, and she could call her uncle over if needed.

Chi Nan immediately understood that this should be Uncle Fu’s niece. He greeted Wen Ci again, but before the two could say a few more words, Wen Ci was called out by her mother to eat, and then there was no follow-up between the two.

Chi Nan looked at the chat history. He was quite happy when he first received the voice message, thinking that Uncle Fu had sent him a voice message. But it wasn’t; it was Uncle Fu’s niece. But thinking back, he always sent Uncle Fu voice messages when they chatted, while Uncle Fu always typed. Why didn’t Uncle Fu send him voice messages?

“Could it be that Uncle Fu’s voice isn’t nice? But I don’t mind.”

Chi Nan was actually a little curious about what Uncle Fu’s voice would sound like. He had never asked Uncle Fu what it felt like to hear his voice. When Uncle Fu had time, he would definitely ask him when he could send him a voice message. He was a little looking forward to Uncle Fu’s voice.
