Chapter 81: Young and Ignorant, Not Knowing Older Sisters Are Good

The elevator went directly to the first floor of the villa. The stainless steel doors of the car opened to both sides, and the warmth of the heating immediately rushed in.

The villa was decorated in a modern Italian style. The reception hall had been carefully arranged by professionals. Bouquets, candles, and balloons were all present. English songs were playing on the sound system, and Malia’s low, husky voice made the environment feel like a coffee shop with an atmosphere.

There weren’t many people inside. Including the two of them and Tuoba and her friends, there were only about ten people. Half of them were little-known internet celebrities with their own circles, and they couldn’t fit in.

Tuoba’s cousin, whom she vaguely recognized, greeted them, “Make yourselves at home, eat and wander around as you please.”

Lu You, full of curiosity, took Yue Yunxi’s hand and strolled around the villa, liking the sunlit glass room the most.

From there, she could see the distant, undulating mountain silhouettes. In the blue hour after sunset, the quiet blue seemed to gently flood in like a tide.

It would probably be very beautiful at night too, with stars and a moon.

The most interesting thing was that its door was on the side wall of the cloakroom entrance, a double-sided mirror design that looked like an ordinary dressing mirror from the outside.

If Lu You hadn’t been chatting idly with Yue Yunxi and accidentally bumped into the mirror, pushing the door open, she would have almost overlooked this “secret base.”

“If you like it, you can have the attic of your Western-style house changed like this.” As they were about to leave, Yue Yunxi leaned on the one-way mirror door and pondered, “But this door design…”

“If the attic is like this, then we don’t need this kind of door. A mirror on the stairs would be terrifying in the middle of the night.”

Lu You stopped at the door, tilted her head, and looked out from the inside. Through the glass, she could see Yue Yunxi outside clearly. She made a V-sign. “Can you see me?”

Outside the glass, Yue Yunxi shook her head. “I can see me.”

“Yeah, I see you shaking your head, haha, it’s so interesting. I feel like your cloakroom door could also be designed like this.”

Lu You went out and stood in front of the mirror, poking the glass with her finger. Noticing Yue Yunxi approaching behind her, she raised her eyes slightly.

Her shoulder drooped as Yue Yunxi bent down and rested her chin on her shoulder.

“My cloakroom should be designed with a door like this?” Yue Yunxi imitated her, also reaching out to touch the mirror surface with her fingertips. Her soft voice, even lower, caressed her ear. “It’s not impossible. If someone forgets to lock the door and comes in one day, it’ll be easier to deal with.”

Fingertips pressed against the glass, without any gaps. In the corner of her eye, she could still glimpse the island platform where watches and jewelry were placed.

Like the one at home, a little.

Memories of the island platform in the cloakroom, the deepest eyebrow expressions and postures, flooded her mind in an instant.

The back of her ears burned.

Lu You suddenly curled her knuckles, lowered her hand, and glared at her through the mirror. “Showing disrespect for the elders!”

Yue Yunxi straightened up, blinked, and squeezed out a hint of innocence, the rest was teasing. “I meant to prevent the housemaid from barging in when I’m changing clothes. What were you thinking about?”

    “…”

Yue Yunxi understood, flicked her forehead. “Showing disrespect for the young.”

Lu You covered her forehead. “This is a case of being influenced by one’s company! Near vermilion, one gets stained red; near the moon, one turns yellow!”

Yue Yunxi pursed her lips and smiled.

The laughter rippling in the air was low and light, cutting through the air from downstairs.

The villa was large, and the sounds of conversation reaching them were basically unintelligible, only known to be loud.

Lu You walked out and leaned on the second-floor railing, looking down.

A group of people formed concentric circles. The outer circle was the internet celebrities, and the inner circle was the members of the band. Tuoba was at the center, gesticulating wildly, as if reenacting the funny things that happened while filming videos.

So the main character had returned. No wonder.

“Want to go down?” Yue Yunxi asked her from the side.

As if sensing something, Tao Xin suddenly looked up in this direction. Her baseball cap, sunglasses, and mask had been removed at some point, revealing her fair face, but from a distance, her expression was still unreadable.

Lu You retracted her gaze, skimming lightly over the document bag in Tao Xin’s hand. She gave a “mm” sound.

Pandora’s box. She had a feeling that the document bag wouldn’t contain what she wanted to see, but she was inexplicably curious.

    What exactly was inside?

    ˉ

Not long after going downstairs, seeing that everyone had arrived, Tuoba’s cousin organized everyone to celebrate Tuoba’s birthday, turning off the lights with a sense of ceremony, lighting candles, and singing “Happy Birthday.”

Lu You paid special attention to the photographer’s position, pulling Yue Yunxi to hide in a corner, trying to avoid being filmed as much as possible.

During the candle-blowing part, the living room briefly fell into darkness. After the lights came on, everyone went forward to give gifts one by one, and Tuoba unwrapped them on the spot.

Lu You leaned her head and whispered to Yue Yunxi, “A large-scale competition of wealth and showing off.”

Afraid of being heard, she got very close, her lips almost touching Yue Yunxi’s ear when she spoke.

Yue Yunxi turned her head, her upper lip brushing against her lower lip.

Both of them were stunned for a moment.

Lu You quickly looked around, and when she looked towards the camera, she unexpectedly found Chen Xiguan there, carrying the camera and filming the people to their left who were about to go up and give gifts.

    They probably weren’t filmed, right?

Lu You stared for a while, seeing that Chen Xiguan’s camera was always pointed at the people giving gifts, and slowly withdrew her gaze.

“What were you going to say?” she asked Yue Yunxi.

“I wanted to ask what gift you prepared.” Yue Yunxi said, “I haven’t seen it yet.”

“Mine is a golden birthday cake, and yours is a golden ‘Happy Birthday’ plaque.” Lu You covered her forehead and said helplessly, “It’ll probably be the most vulgar gift Tuoba receives today.”

Yue Yunxi immediately understood that the two were a set, and smiled. “How could it be? Gold holds its value.”

“That’s true!” Lu You perked up again, but her joyful mood was suppressed by a gaze not long after.

Sensing someone looking at her, Lu You followed the gaze back and met Chen Xiguan’s camera.

Lu You’s heart couldn’t help but shrink.

Then she realized that it was their turn to give gifts.

The birthday ceremony ended with Tuoba’s tearful emotion. After that was a buffet dinner. Everyone wanted to take advantage of the popular singer’s traffic, and Tao Xin and Chen Xiguan were quickly surrounded.

Lu You grabbed Yue Yunxi’s hand and went to a less crowded corner to find food.

Like Tuoba’s birthday cake, the food on the table was more exquisite than tasty, suitable for taking pictures but not for eating.

“Are we staying here overnight?” Lu You filled her phone album, took a cocktail, and saw Yue Yunxi also about to take one, slapped her hand away with a “snap.” “No, you can’t drink.”

Yue Yunxi frowned slightly, glanced at the back of her hand, and looked up at her, her eyes rippling with aggrievedness. “Probably not. It should be over by nine or ten o’clock. We can go back and have some late-night snacks.”

“Did I hit too hard?” Lu You grabbed Yue Yunxi’s fingertip, pulling her entire right hand in front of her.

The back of her hand was a little red.

She was still thinking about her not being full, even after being hurt.

It seemed that since confirming their relationship, what she felt most often was the sensation coming from her heart.

That subtle stinging pain, vaguely, not very clear, but impossible to ignore.

Lu You took a deep breath and blew on the back of Yue Yunxi’s hand twice.

“Does blowing on it make it not hurt anymore?” Yue Yunxi asked. “What’s the principle?”

“I don’t know. When I was little…” Lu You let go of her hand and said vaguely after a while, “Adults always did this.”

Again, she involuntarily thought of someone who shouldn’t be remembered.

Why was it happening more and more frequently lately?

Lu You frowned, then quickly relaxed, so quickly that it seemed like just a muscle twitch from being stimulated by the taste when picking up the cup to drink.

While sipping the wine, Lu You pushed the orange juice next to her to Yue Yunxi. “You drink this.”

Yue Yunxi curved her lips and smiled, “Okay then.”

Not obedient for more than two seconds, her gaze fell on the rim of the glass she had sipped from. “Can’t I have even a little bit of alcohol?”

“You can only have a taste.” Lu You handed over the glass.

Yue Yunxi held the triangular martini glass by the base, turned it a little, and the liquid in the glass shimmered with the light from the hall. Yue Yunxi’s red lips parted slightly, aligning themselves with the lipstick stain left on the rim, and she took a sip.

    “…”

Lu You swallowed and slowly turned her face away, turning her eyes and seeing Chen Xiguan walking over.

When Yue Yunxi handed back the cup with the deepened lipstick to her, Chen Xiguan walked up to them.

“Hi, Lu You, I’ve been wanting to say hello for a while, but I haven’t had a chance.” Chen Xiguan always liked to call her by her full name.

Lu You used her cup to lightly touch Chen Xiguan’s raised wine glass. “How are you doing now? Are you adjusting?”

Chen Xiguan’s gaze lightly passed over the lipstick stain on the rim of her cup, dimming. “Not really adjusting. I’m sorry, I didn’t tell you before I left Lost Deer. Because… I didn’t know how to tell you. I’m sorry…”

The four members of the band had very different personalities. Tao Xin was willful and spoiled, Tuoba was charming and open, and Zhou Ningmeng was cool and straightforward. They all had eye-catching qualities.

But Chen Xiguan’s underlying personality was dull. Her singing voice was no worse than Tao Xin’s, but because she was too gloomy, she always shrank into a transparent person in an inconspicuous corner.

She was always easily ignored at gatherings, and Lu You would take special care of her when she was around. She had also commented to her face that her singing was good, especially folk songs, and that she had the temperament of a folk singer.

After the band broke up, Chen Xiguan followed her advice and transitioned into a folk singer, but this path of pursuing her dream was too difficult. And the only help Lu You could give her was the stage at Lost Deer.

When Tao Xin first became popular, Lu You had suggested that Tao Xin help Chen Xiguan, but Tao Xin said that she hadn’t even established herself yet, how could she help Chen Xiguan?

This matter slowly could only be left unresolved.

“It’s okay, it’s no big deal, don’t take it to heart. Also, you’re finally able to be on a big stage. Take your time. I even met your fans on the road the other day who were praising you. Keep it up!” Lu You said with a smile, “Don’t forget me when you become rich and successful!”

Chen Xiguan was infected by her smile and smiled as well, handing her a slip of paper and saying, “Read it after I leave, thank you.”

The watermelon-shaped slip of paper, Lost Deer still had a lot left, was bought by Lu You and pasted on Chen Xiguan’s storage box, with a message about the song to be prepared the next day.

Chen Xiguan waved and said goodbye.

Lu You held the note, watching Chen Xiguan leave her sight, and heard Yue Yunxi’s faint sigh, before withdrawing her gaze. “What’s wrong? Is the moon jealous again?”

Yue Yunxi chuckled, “I thought they were all magnanimous, but it turns out you’re too magnanimous.”

–“They are all magnanimous, only I have turned the light I hold into greed, anger, and delusion.”

Lu You remembered the night in Shencheng, in the humid river wind, Yue Yunxi’s words to her.

    It was an inexplicable feeling.

Or was it because she remembered her drunken words that she felt this way?

“Do I need to avoid her?” Yue Yunxi’s eyes swept over the note in her hand.

Lu You came back to her senses and shook her head. “Avoid what? She gave it to me in front of you, so she probably doesn’t mind you seeing it.”

Saying that, Lu You turned the note over.

On the back, which was a lighter color, was written: “We all like light, even though it’s fleeting.”

    Yue Yunxi raised an eyebrow.

Lu You caught her micro-expression and looked at Chen Xiguan’s dog-scratch-like handwriting on the note, saying, “If I say I don’t understand, would it make me look illiterate?”

Yue Yunxi tilted her head and laughed softly, her shoulder line trembling slightly in Lu You’s sight.

Lu You puffed out her cheeks and scratched her playfully. “Want to laugh so much, huh?”

Yue Yunxi laughed until her face was red, twisting to avoid her, and quickly begged for mercy. After Lu You withdrew her hand, she slowly restrained her smile, met Lu You’s gaze, and said seriously, one word at a time, “If I remember correctly, the second half of the sentence is, ‘But you are still you, with a name that makes my heart tremble when I call it.'”

Lu You only felt her heart skip two beats.

One beat was for the fact that this sentence was spoken by Yue Yunxi with a deeply hidden emotion, pouring from her ears into her heart.

The second beat was for Chen Xiguan, out of surprise.

“What are you going to do with this piece of paper?” Yue Yunxi asked.

Lu You didn’t know. “What do you want me to do with it?”

Yue Yunxi took the note from her hand and put it in the pocket of her suit. “It’s a kind intention, it’s not good to ruin it.”

Meeting eyes for a moment, Lu You clearly felt her heart skip another beat.

As if hearing some destined annotation in the gap, it was peeling away the confession she had made in the car, revealing the clearer feeling deeply hidden inside–

If she can’t reach the end with someone like Yue Yunxi, after this experience, she probably won’t be able to tolerate anyone else in her eyes, and she’ll have to live alone until she dies.

There will never be anyone better than Yue Yunxi.

After dinner, the crowd was gathered by Tuoba to the lounge area on the left side of the hall, sitting on the sofa to play board games and pass the time —

Tuoba had scheduled fireworks for nine o’clock in the evening.

This segment would not be recorded by the camera, so Tuoba had not designed it well.

Everyone knew the same old games, so they inevitably chose Truth or Dare in a cliché.

The wine bottle was placed on the coffee table, and whoever it spun to was unlucky.

It was good to have a lot of people. The bottle spun around a dozen times and didn’t land on Lu You’s side.

Lu You happily ate a lot of gossip from the internet celebrity circle.

And finally understood why they weren’t recording, because it was too explosive.

If this were to be exposed, a large area would collapse.

But it probably wouldn’t cause much of a splash, being obscure was the best protection.

Lu You thought it was better than the one Chuxiao shared, after all, the protagonist seemed to be Tao Xin sitting to her right.

Glancing at Tao Xin out of the corner of her eye, Lu You couldn’t help but sigh.

They used to be good friends who could sit very close to each other, but now when they sat next to each other, she couldn’t help but hug a pillow in her arms to increase her sense of security and distance.

The internet celebrity opposite her must have stayed up for several nights, and was constantly yawning. Lu You would see her every time she looked up, and influenced by her, she yawned twice in a row.

    Her phone vibrated.

Lu You took it out to look, her eyes turning to the corner of her eye, and she glanced lightly at Yue Yunxi sitting next to her.

It was a message from that person.

Yue Yunxi: [Sleepy? Want to sneak away?]

Lu You pressed the screen and typed back: [The person opposite me has yawned more than a dozen times, I’m infected QAQ]

Just after sending it, she heard Tuoba call her, “YoYo, you’re not participating, are you? Yawning and playing with your phone.”

Tuoba paused subtly, quickly glanced at Tao Xin, winked, and said to Lu You, “Be careful, maybe it’ll be your turn later.”

Her mouth was probably blessed, or maybe she had turned the wine bottle too many times and mastered the strength and direction of the spin.

The mouth of the turning bottle stopped precisely and pointed at Lu You.

    “Truth or dare?” Tuoba asked.

“Truth, I guess.” Lu You drew a card.

The so-called card was a playing card, it was just a formality. Tuoba wanted to finish drawing the cards so that the game could end.

Tuoba rested her face on her hand in a thinking pose, her eyes drifting towards Tao Xin from time to time. After thinking for a while, she asked, “Is there anyone here that you like?”

It was the mildest question so far.

There was a chorus of boos, expressing dissatisfaction, feeling that it was boring.

    Lu You said, “Yes.”

Tuoba turned the bottle again, and it was still pointing at Lu You.

“She did something that made you very unhappy. Would you forgive her?” Tuoba asked.

Lu You tilted her head, her gaze involuntarily turning to Yue Yunxi, only to find that Yue Yunxi had also hugged a pillow in her arms at some point.

Yue Yunxi was also looking at her.

Their eyes met and quickly parted. Lu You smiled and said, “If it’s not a matter of principle, I’ll probably forgive her for the sake of her face.”

Tuoba reached out to turn the bottle again, but Yue Yunxi suddenly opened her mouth and said, “Let someone else turn it.”

From the time she sat on the sofa until now, this was the first sentence Yue Yunxi had said. The words were emotionless, but because of her tone, they were still gentle.

Tuoba was stunned for a moment, not really wanting to change, but not wanting to refuse.

Those who thought her question was boring were still echoing, “I think so too, let someone else turn it. Your question is too gentle, you can’t be lenient just because this girl is pretty.”

Tuoba gave Zhou Ningmeng a look.

“Then I’ll do it!” Zhou Ningmeng rolled up her shirt sleeves, grabbed the bottle, secretly aimed it at Yue Yunxi’s direction, and twisted her wrist to turn it hard.

Lu You raised her eyebrows at Yue Yunxi, a look of anticipation on her face, silently saying with her mouth: “It’s coming for you, Sister Yunxi~”

The wine bottle slowly stopped with a “glug glug.”

Lu You pursed her lips into a straight line, sat up straight, staring at the mouth of the bottle pointing at her, and made a “tsk” sound.

From the side behind her, there was a very light laugh, teasing her ear nerves.

“Truth or dare?” Zhou Ningmeng said bluntly, “To be honest, drawing truth is really boring. After all, I’m not very familiar with you. How about dare? Everyone is an adult, let’s have a little fun, shall we?”

“No, you can ask something more exciting, I don’t mind.” Lu You’s eyebrows and eyes curved very well. “But I’m afraid I can’t afford the dare you set for me.”

“Then how about this, I’ll say the dare first. If you can do it, you can do it. If you can’t do it, then choose truth.” Zhou Ningmeng retreated and asked, “Is that okay?”

“Excuse me for asking, I’m really a little curious, is this beauty your group’s favorite?” The person speaking was the internet celebrity who had been yawning the whole time.

    The source of everything.

Lu You glanced at her, pulled at the corner of her mouth: “No, she’s the one we bully as a group.”

Then, she followed Zhou Ningmeng’s lead and gave Zhou Ningmeng face: “Thank you, Lemon, for not bullying me for once. What’s the dare?”

Zhou Ningmeng’s eyes wandered back and forth between her and Tao Xin.

Seeing this, Lu You was planning in her heart how to refuse her dare, and then find an excuse to slip away for a while.

“Speaking of looking at faces, I remember you saying before that you like the younger sister type the most. Then, how about you choose the type you like among us and give her a kiss? Isn’t that too much? This request?”

Lu You’s eyebrows and eyes stretched out warmly, but there was not much warmth in her eyes. She cooperated and went to draw a card to follow the form.

It wasn’t too much, but it wasn’t not too much either.

She had to limit her favorite type to the younger sister type, and she had to kiss her.

Her kiss was very precious, okay!

Lu You smiled, turned her head, reached out and cupped Yue Yunxi’s face, raised her eyes, looked at her up close, her eyebrows and eyes like melting snow mountains and streams, clear and generous.

Their breaths entwined at the tips of their noses, and Yue Yunxi’s lightly trembling eyelashes seemed to be encouraging her to take the next step quickly.

Then, a warm sensation landed on her lips.

There were gasps around, like a force pressing down on the pause button, and the world briefly fell into silence.

It was the first time they had kissed with their eyes open, close enough to see the patterns of their irises, as if sucking her into the deep black vortex. Yue Yunxi’s tongue still had the taste of orange juice and mousse.

    So sweet.

Eating something sweet would make her happy, and she wouldn’t mind the jealous moon maliciously sucking her tongue painfully.

After separating, Lu You could still feel the tingling at the root of her tongue.

She heard Zhou Ningmeng’s trembling voice, not knowing if it was from being angry, or if the goddess she liked was kissed by her, and her heart was broken.

“I told you to kiss the younger sister type, Sister Yunxi… doesn’t really fit, does she?!”

Lu You still held Yue Yunxi’s cheeks in her palms, squeezed them, and saw Yue Yunxi’s lips, where the lipstick had faded, pouting. What a cute look.

    Didn’t that fit?

She smiled, pulling at the root of her tongue, and then corrected her mistake in a clear pain: “Forget it, young and ignorant, not knowing older sisters are good, mistakenly treating younger sisters as treasures.”

Not a few seconds after the words fell, the song playing in the villa’s sound system switched to Lvyan’s “Take Me Away.”

The saxophone intro picked up the desire of the listener.

Yue Yunxi stood up, grabbed her wrist and pulled her up, saying, “You come with me.”

Rarely being so unkind, like biting on some intense and suppressed emotion.

Not leaving any reason or excuse for leaving.

Maybe everyone thought she was so outrageous that she was going to be properly educated by her older sister, so no one asked them where they were going.

Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, the silvery moonlight crossed the flowers and railings, flowing to their feet.

Lu You was led by Yue Yunxi, looking down and smirking, every step was stepping on the joyful rhythm, kissing the bright moonlit ground.

    Note
