    Chapter 85 Ms. Tan’s Visit

After crying until the end, Lu Jin’s head felt dizzy, as if it was filled with lead, and he didn’t even have the strength to raise his hands.

His eyes were sore and swollen, and his limbs were all exhausted, as if they were falling apart. Especially his legs, which had been curled up for too long, were already numb and had lost consciousness.

Xie Shuhan noticed something strange about him and didn’t say anything more, but carefully helped him stand up.

Lu Jin leaned against him, like a puppy whose bones had been taken away.

Her cheek rubbed against Xie Shuhan’s neck, and the crisp cedar fragrance lingering on the tip of her nose. The turbulent emotions that had been surging were miraculously calmed down.

Xie Shuhan half-supported and half-hugged him into the bathroom, put a tank of warm water in, and took off his coat for him.

Lu Jin looked up at him, his wet eyelashes still glistening with water, with a hint of lingering grievance in his eyes, like a large dog that had been smoothed by its owner.

“I’ll do it myself.” He said hoarsely, his voice still hoarse from crying.

Xie Shuhan didn’t respond, but bent down to adjust the water temperature for him.

After confirming that the water temperature was just right, Xie Shuhan straightened up and rubbed his hair: “Soak well, and I’ll get you pajamas.”

Lu Jin hummed and slid into the bathtub obediently.

The warm water spread over the limbs, soothing the tense muscles and dispelling the soreness in the heart. It was just that I had been crying for too long and my head was already dizzy.

Not long after, Xie Shuhan came in with his pajamas, and what he saw was Lu Jin leaning on the edge of the bathtub, breathing steadily, already drowsy.

He smiled helplessly, walked over with gentle steps, dried his body, coaxed him to put on soft cotton pajamas, and helped him to the bedside.

Lu Jin subconsciously buried his head in the crook of his neck, rubbing his nose against his skin, absorbing his unique scent.

After Lu Jin settled down, Xie Shuhan went to take a shower. When he came out, Lu Jin was already asleep.

Xie Shuhan lay beside him, looking at the red corners of his eyes and the slightly swollen eyelids, and gently brushed his eyebrows with his fingertips, his movements too gentle to be true.

He lowered his head and placed a light kiss on Lu Jin’s forehead, his voice as low as a whisper: “Idiot.”

The moonlight outside the window shines through the gauze curtains on the figures of the two embracing each other, quiet and gentle.

Early the next morning, Xie Shuhan rarely gave himself a day off.

He sent a message to the assistant at the law firm, telling him that he was on vacation today, and put his phone on silent.

Lu Jin simply called his special assistant Wang Li and announced concisely that he would not enter the company today and all matters would be postponed.

Wang Li on the other end of the phone almost cried on the spot as she looked at the densely packed files to be processed on the computer screen and the packed schedule.

The sunlight shines warmly through the floor-to-ceiling windows and onto the carpet in the living room.

As soon as Xie Shuhan put breakfast on the table, the doorbell rang.

He wiped his hands and opened the door. Standing outside the door was Ms. Tan carrying large and small bags.

“Mom, why are you here?” Xie Shuhan quickly turned sideways to let her in, his tone full of surprise.

Ms. Tan walked in with a smile and put the things in her hands on the coffee table. There was a dazzling array of nutritious ingredients and Xie Shuhan’s favorite snacks.

“I heard that you were busy with the lawsuit some time ago and were exhausted. I specially made soup and bought some things to come and see you.”

Her eyes fell on Xie Shuhan, and the more she looked, the more satisfied she became. She held his hand and refused to let go: “Hanhan, I heard that you won the Lu family’s lawsuit? That’s great! I know that my Hanhan family is the most powerful. Those people want to bully our Lu family, but they have no way!”

Xie Shuhan was a little embarrassed by her praise, his ears turned red, and he said softly: “It’s all within my scope, thank you, Mom.”

“What’s your duty? This helps A Jin preserve the foundation of the Lu family!” Ms. Tan said, turning to look at Lu Jin who had just come down from upstairs, her face instantly darkened.

“Ajin, look at you, how do you take care of others? Hanhan has lost a lot of weight, how did you become a husband?”

Lu Jin had just woken up from sleep, his hair was still a little messy. Hearing this, he quickly came over, put his arms around Xie Shuhan’s waist from behind, put his chin on his shoulder, and smiled flatteringly at Ms. Tan: “Mom, I have a conscience for my wife. I hold it in my hand for fear of falling, and hold it in my mouth for fear of melting. He lost weight because the law firm is too busy.”

“Mom, I don’t blame A Jin. There are indeed more cases during this period.” Xie Shuhan also helped explain, fearing that Ms. Tan would really blame Lu Jin.

Ms. Tan rolled her eyes at Lu Jin before letting him go.

But when he turned his eyes, he caught a glimpse of Lu Jin’s still red and swollen eyes, and he immediately frowned: “Wait a minute, what’s wrong with your eyes? They’re as swollen as walnuts, and both eyelids are gone. Could it be that you were beaten?”

The corners of Lu Jin’s mouth twitched sharply, his eyes were a little dodgey, and his ears were quietly turning red.

He couldn’t say that he was so distressed that he cried for half the night because he read the star note written by his wife, right? That’s too embarrassing.

Xie Shuhan looked at his embarrassed look and couldn’t help but pursed his lips and smiled, unable to hide the smile in his eyes.

Lu Jin cleared his throat and lied bravely: “No… I wasn’t beaten. I watched a movie last night. It was so touching. I couldn’t help but cry for a while.”

“Watching a movie?” Ms. Tan obviously didn’t believe it. She looked him up and down with disgust on her face.

“How old are you to cry like this after watching a movie? You are now the president of the Lu family and the face of our Lu family. Fortunately, you did not go to the company today, otherwise you would be seen and embarrassed!”

Lu Jin was so scolded that he did not dare to say a word and could only accept the scolding. He secretly glanced at Xie Shuhan who was snickering next to him.

Feeling his gaze, Xie Shuhan turned his head and winked at him, the smile in his eyes getting stronger.

“Okay, okay, Mom, why did you come here suddenly today?” Lu Jin quickly changed the subject, fearing that Ms. Tan would ask further questions.

Only then did Ms. Tan remember the business. The disgust on her face was instantly replaced by a beaming smile, and her tone was full of excitement: “Oh, I’m here today to bring you good news! Your cousin’s daughter-in-law went to the hospital for a checkup yesterday and she’s pregnant! Your cousin is going to be a father soon!”

“Really?” Lu Jin’s eyes lit up, obviously surprised.

“Is there still a lie?” Ms. Tan smiled from ear to ear.

Xie Shuhan also laughed and was really happy for his cousin.

Lu Jin seemed to have thought of something. He lowered his head and rubbed Xie Shuhan’s neck. His tone was full of expectation: “Great! In a few years, when the little guy grows up, I will leave the company to him. Then I will take my wife and travel around the mountains and rivers every day. We are so happy together that no one can disturb us.”

Ms. Tan was so amused by his words that she couldn’t laugh or cry. She stretched out her hand and poked his forehead: “Look at your potential! You clearly arranged this while he was still in the womb.”

“That’s not the case.” Lu Jin confidently hugged Xie Shuhan’s waist, with a proud look on his face, “My wife is so good, who will she be with if she doesn’t accompany him?”

Xie Shuhan’s cheeks felt slightly hot, and he stretched out his hand to push his chest gently, but Lu Jin held his wrist with his backhand and clasped his fingers tightly.

The sun shines through the window and shines warmly on the three of them.

The tonics on the coffee table exuded a faint aroma, and the living room echoed with Ms. Tan’s laughter, Lu Jin’s jokes, and Xie Shuhan’s occasional echoes, making it warm and cozy.

This kind of time is plain and beautiful, like a cup of warm honey water, sweet to the bottom of my heart.
