Chapter 67
“Don’t speak too soon, General Gu. Go ahead and shoot if you dare.”
Liang Sixu, holding Yu Jianguo hostage, appeared before everyone. Liang Sixu glanced at Chi Nan and Fu Chaoyun and grinned.
“Chi Nan, I have a secret to tell you.”
Fu Chaoyun untied Chi Nan’s ropes. The first thing Chi Nan did after his hands were free was to check Uncle Fu’s leg wound. He hadn’t felt any pain when they rolled over earlier, but after untying Chi Nan, he felt blood gushing out. However, Fu Chaoyun didn’t seem to feel any pain and told Chi Nan he was fine.
Because Chi Nan and Fu Chaoyun were on the other side, and Liang Sixu was holding a semiconscious Yu Jianguo, Gu Jingnan didn’t dare to act rashly. Liang Sixu also had a gun in his hand and was emotionally unstable, so no one knew what he might do.
“I’ll only tell you,” Liang Sixu said to Chi Nan. Chi Nan’s hands and feet had been tied for too long, so they were still numb, and he didn’t know how to move them. Even his brain felt sluggish.
“What?”
“I’m going to tell you a secret. If you don’t come and listen, I’ll let Yu Jianguo take this secret to the grave with him.”
Liang Sixu then glanced at Gu Jingnan, the meaning being, go ahead and shoot if you dare. Do you have another way? If you don’t, then stay put and don’t act rashly, or I don’t know what I might do next.
Chi Nan looked at Gu Jingnan. They didn’t have a particularly good solution at the moment. Chi Nan came to rescue Yu Jianguo, so he took two steps forward, walking to Liang Sixu’s side.
“Come a little closer, and I’ll tell you.”
Chi Nan hesitated and took two more steps, walking to Liang Sixu’s side. Liang Sixu slowly and deliberately said, “Do you know that Gu Jingnan standing in front of you is your real father, and this Yu Jianguo is just a junk collector?”
Liang Sixu was very satisfied to see the shocked expression on Chi Nan’s face.
“What do you mean? Explain yourself clearly.”
Chi Nan didn’t understand and moved a little closer. Liang Sixu grinned. “It means let’s all die together.”
Liang Sixu suddenly released Yu Jianguo, tore open his clothes, and revealed that he had strapped a lot of explosives to himself. He had said long ago that he, Liang Sixu, was a person standing on top of the world, and definitely not someone that ants could trifle with. So even if he broke the law, it would definitely not be the law that punished him.
Gu Jingnan saw the timed bomb on Liang Sixu’s body, with only a dozen seconds left, and shouted for Chi Nan to run.
Chi Nan wanted to run but was grabbed by Liang Sixu and couldn’t break free.
“Let’s go together, Chi Nan. I told you I’d drag someone down with me.”
Liang Sixu was nearly crazed, grabbing Chi Nan’s collar and refusing to let go. The countdown was ticking down, second by second.
“Ten.”
“Nine.”
“Chi Nan, let’s die together.”
Chi Nan struggled with all his might, but couldn’t break free. Fu Chaoyun pounced on them. Liang Sixu didn’t notice at first and was knocked back a few steps by Fu Chaoyun’s impact. He released Chi Nan’s collar, but there were only five seconds left on the countdown. Fu Chaoyun and Chi Nan couldn’t dodge in time.
When the countdown reached one, a loud explosion rang out. Liang Sixu, with the bomb strapped to his body, was blown to pieces in the smoke and dust. In the last second, Fu Chaoyun pushed Chi Nan to the ground, bearing most of the damage from the explosion. At the moment the explosion rang out, everyone fell to the ground, and Chi Nan was also knocked to the ground by Fu Chaoyun. As he fell, Chi Nan seemed to hear a muffled groan.
Once the explosion had passed, Gu Jingnan and the others came in to check the situation. They first looked at Liang Sixu’s condition. Because the bomb was strapped to his body, he had been blown apart, leaving only fragments.
Chi Nan was protected by Fu Chaoyun underneath him, but because they were so close, a lot of dust was kicked up. The dust landed on his head and body. Chi Nan shook his head, feeling like he might have tinnitus. He wanted to check on Uncle Fu’s condition, but when he reached out, he felt something wet. Chi Nan frowned. When he got up, he saw that his hands were covered in blood.
“Fu…Uncle Fu.”
Chi Nan was frightened by the situation, looking at his hands full of blood. He carefully wanted to touch Uncle Fu, but saw that Uncle Fu’s back was covered in blood, and he didn’t know where to touch. He was completely at a loss.
“Uncle Fu, Uncle Fu.”
Chi Nan gently touched Uncle Fu’s cheeks with both hands. Fu Chaoyun frowned at Chi Nan’s worried expression, and with great effort, opened one eye.
“Don’t be afraid, I’m fine.”
Fu Chaoyun looked at Chi Nan’s worried expression and tried to comfort him, but when he spoke, he coughed up a mouthful of blood.
“Uncle Fu, don’t talk. Ambulance, I’m going to find an ambulance.”
“I’m fine.”
Fu Chaoyun wanted to reach out and touch Chi Nan, but his hand fell weakly.
“Uncle Fu, Uncle Fu.”
Chi Nan shouted. He was too familiar with this feeling of helplessness. Except this time, he felt like he was one step closer to death. Paramedics immediately put Fu Chaoyun in the ambulance and rushed him to the hospital. Because Fu Chaoyun had the chance to call home earlier, his family was also worried and had sent some people to rescue him. But they didn’t expect that they were rescuing Fu Chaoyun.
After they came out of the Bei Qiao warehouse, they drove directly to the Municipal People’s Hospital for emergency treatment. Chi Nan waited in the hallway for as long as Fu Chaoyun was in the emergency room. He kept wiping away his tears, which kept falling. He prayed, praying that his Uncle Fu would be safe and sound. If he hadn’t called, Uncle Fu should have been lying comfortably at home right now, instead of being in the hospital bed, his life hanging in the balance.
This news was also immediately notified to Fu Chaoyun’s family. At first, only Fu Shi came over. Fu Chaoyun’s parents were still abroad and hadn’t returned, but they had been notified and had booked the earliest flight back.
Chi Nan didn’t know what to say when he saw Fu Shi. He knew that nothing he said now would help. He could only pray for Uncle Fu’s health. While they were waiting outside the emergency room, Gu Jingnan had also dealt with Liang Sixu’s matter and brought the latest news to Chi Nan. Su Xi had been arrested. She had been caught by their people outside, having been released through Liang Sixu’s illegal means. At the same time, they had also notified the relevant departments to investigate the Liang family. Most of the people Liang Sixu hired were mercenary legions. They didn’t belong to any country. They had been expelled, and there was no way to locate them temporarily.
Yu Jianguo, who was closest to Liang Sixu, was also being rescued in the emergency room. The specific situation could only be known after the doctor came out.
