HUFT Chapter 4
by Volare“I heard that Wen Ci was sick a few days ago. What happened?”
Wen Ci, mentioned by Lu Cheng, is Fu Chaoyun’s sister Fu Shi’s child, and Fu Chaoyun’s niece. She was also the one who downloaded the dating app.
“It’s nothing serious. She accidentally fell down the stairs and fractured a bone.”
“Did you receive the email the teacher sent you? A University’s centennial celebration, inviting us to attend.”
Lu Cheng and Fu Chaoyun were classmates in the same year, and their families have been close for generations. The Lu and Fu families have been friends for two generations, so Lu Cheng can be said to be one of Fu Chaoyun’s few close friends, and a trustworthy one. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to see a regular doctor for his insomnia, to prevent information from leaking.
“I received it, but I’m not sure if I’ll have time, so I haven’t replied to the teacher yet.”
“What about you? Planning to go?”
Fu Chaoyun asked Lu Cheng.
“I don’t have any work that day, so I want to go and take a look.”
“You probably have another motive.”
Fu Chaoyun glanced at Lu Cheng, feeling that Lu Cheng’s going to A University wasn’t that simple, because it wasn’t like his style.
“I also want to meet some new young people. After all, I’m getting older.”
“Are Uncle Lu and Aunt urging you again?”
“Not really, but I also want to try a new beginning.”
After these words, both of them fell silent. Fu Chaoyun didn’t know how to comfort his friend. After all, these were old stories, and he really should try a new beginning.
“Enough about me. I told you to interact more with young people. Have you been doing that?”
“Yes, I’ve been chatting with that kid.”
The two of them talked a few more sentences about things outside of work. Lu Cheng wrote Fu Chaoyun a new prescription and asked the nurse to get the medicine for Fu Chaoyun.
Chi Nan spent the entire morning diligently creating on his tablet, checking the already drawn line art to make sure there were no problems before sending it to the client. After getting the client’s feedback, he would make modifications. After all the modifications were done, he would add color. Chi Nan had finished the line art close to noon, took out his phone and glanced at the morning messages, the page was still on Fu Chaoyun saying he was going to drive.
“Uncle Fu, it’s almost noon, have you eaten?”
Chi Nan sent a voice message.
When Fu Chaoyun received the message, he was just about to have lunch with Lu Cheng. The two of them found a restaurant nearby and were eating together, just sat down and received Chi Nan’s message.
[Not yet, just arrived at the restaurant]
Fu Chaoyun took out his phone to reply to the message, and Lu Cheng teased when he saw this scene.
“Are you chatting with that little friend?”
“Mm.”
Fu Chaoyun hummed in response to his friend’s question.
“How did you know?”
“Usually, you don’t touch work-related matters when you’re resting. Now you’re picking up your phone to reply to messages, it’s hard for me not to think of that little friend.”
“Your brain, it’s a pity you didn’t become a detective.”
After the two of them said a few words, the food they ordered came up, and the two of them ate while talking about this and that.
“How long has it been since you went back to school to take a look?”
Lu Cheng asked.
“It’s been a long time, I rarely go back after graduating. When is the school’s anniversary?”
“June 1st, it’s also Children’s Day.”
Fu Chaoyun nodded after knowing the time and continued to eat. The meal took about an hour, and Lu Cheng had to go back to work. When Fu Chaoyun drove back, he remembered that he hadn’t been to A University for a long time, and the restaurant happened to be not far from A University, so Fu Chaoyun directly set the direction home to A University’s location.
Chi Nan finished drawing around twelve o’clock, wanting to go to the first cafeteria to buy some food or order takeout, but before he could order takeout, he received a text message from the teacher, asking if he was at school, and if he was, to go to the office.
Chi Nan had to clean up and go to the office, munching on a bread on the way. When he arrived at the office, he found that many students were there, there were senior students and students from their class, scattered about twelve or thirteen people.
“Everyone’s here?”
Teacher Chen pushed the door in and saw that the students he had messaged had arrived.
“Find a place to sit first, and listen to me slowly.”
It was during the holidays, so there was only Teacher Chen in the office. Everyone found a place to sit down, and the originally spacious place suddenly became a bit crowded.
“It’s a last resort that I called you here temporarily. I shouldn’t be disturbing you during the holidays, but things happened suddenly. Our school anniversary is on June 1st. Originally, Teacher Xu was supposed to lead the team to draw a painting of the school anniversary celebration, but we received a temporary notice that Teacher Xu took the students to a competition. This task was temporarily handed over to me. You are all students that I have taught before and am teaching now, with relatively good professional abilities, so I want to discuss with you about this school anniversary gift.”
“If you have any questions, you can tell me. If there are no problems, then it’s confirmed that it will be you few people.”
Teacher Chen looked around at the students’ faces, and found that none of them showed anything special, and asked Chi Nan.
“What about you, Chi Nan.”
Suddenly being called, Chi Nan immediately straightened his back. He still had a few drafts in hand, if it was a school anniversary gift, he would probably only be able to draw drafts at night, but looking at Teacher Chen’s loving eyes, Chi Nan couldn’t say no.
“I have no problem, teacher.”
“Okay, then we’ll create a group later, and I’ll send the content of the gift to the group. It’s probably time for you to eat. Go eat first.”
After Teacher Chen finished speaking, the students began to walk out. Chi Nan was the last one to leave, because Teacher Chen stopped him as he was leaving.
“Chi Nan, wait a moment.”
“Teacher.”
Teacher Chen pulled Chi Nan and asked about some aspects of life and study. It’s no wonder that Teacher Chen paid too much attention to Chi Nan, this child is talented, has good grades, and the paintings he draws are also beautiful, so Teacher Chen likes Chi Nan very much, and also feels sorry for Chi Nan. He didn’t buy a few snacks for Chi Nan when he was a freshman, and he brought food for Chi Nan when he was pulling Chi Nan to do homework.
“Okay, looking at your anxious appearance, you must be hungry. You haven’t eaten yet, the braised pork in the second cafeteria will be gone if you don’t go, go to the teacher’s window, and eat my share of the braised pork for me.”
“No need, teacher, I’ve eaten.”
“If you’ve eaten, try it for me, I’ve also eaten, you go back first, I still have some work to deal with.”
“Goodbye teacher.”
Chi Nan felt a bit indescribable after leaving the office, he could feel that Teacher Chen was good to him.
“Forget it, don’t think about it, go eat braised pork.”
Chi Nan went to the second cafeteria after leaving the office. He had been quite busy since noon, and had not replied to Uncle Fu’s message. Now he opened it and saw that Uncle Fu’s message was an hour ago.
