Chapter Index

Jiang Cheng blamed himself, and he couldn’t argue back. But he couldn’t stand Lan Wangji being insulted. Wei Wuxian said, “Jiang Cheng, listen to the words you’re saying. What are these things you’re saying? Can you even listen to yourself? Don’t forget your identity. You’re the head of a sect. You’re disrespecting a respected figure in front of Uncle Jiang and their spirits. Where is your upbringing and manners?”

His intention was to remind Jiang Cheng to have at least some respect for Lan Wangji, but Jiang Cheng was most sensitive. He faintly heard in these words an implication that he was not qualified to be the sect leader. Immediately, a dark aura climbed onto his face, looking somewhat similar to Madam Yu’s angry expression. He said sternly, “Who exactly is it that is disrespecting my parents in front of their spirits?! I’ll have you two know, this is whose territory. It’s enough that you’re messing around outside, being shameless. Don’t come to my family ancestral hall and act recklessly in front of my parents’ spirits! They watched you grow up, for goodness sake, I’m embarrassed for you!”

Never would he have thought such an unexpected punch would be thrown. Wei Wuxian was both shocked and angry, and blurted out, “Shut your mouth!”

Jiang Cheng pointed outside and said, “You can mess around however you like outside. Under the trees, on the boat, hugging or whatever else! Get out of my house, get out of my sight!”

Hearing him mention “under the trees,” Wei Wuxian’s heart skipped a beat. Could it be that Jiang Cheng saw him throwing himself into Lan Wangji’s embrace?

His guess was correct. Jiang Cheng had indeed gone out to find Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji himself. He followed the direction the pier vendors had pointed, and it seemed a voice was telling him where Wei Wuxian would go. After searching for a while, he caught up with them. But just then, he saw Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji tightly embracing under a tree, unwilling to separate for a long time.

    Jiang Cheng instantly got goosebumps.

Although he had once maliciously speculated about the relationship between Lan Wangji and Mo Xuanyu, that was just an attack to make Wei Wuxian uncomfortable, not a genuine suspicion. He never thought Wei Wuxian would actually be involved with a man. After all, they grew up together and Wei Wuxian had never shown any interest in that area, always being extremely fond of beautiful girls. Lan Wangji was even more unlikely, known for his abstinence and lack of interest in both men and women.

But that kind of embrace, no matter how you looked at it, was abnormal. At the very least, it definitely did not look like the behavior of normal friends or brothers. He immediately recalled that after Wei Wuxian came back, he had been stuck to Lan Wangji, and Lan Wangji’s attitude towards Wei Wuxian was completely different from his previous life. He almost immediately confirmed that these two really were in that kind of relationship. He couldn’t turn back, and he didn’t want to say a single word to these two, so he continued to hide and follow them. Every action and look between them became twisted in his eyes. All at once, the incredulity, weirdness, and slight disgust added together actually surpassed his hatred. It wasn’t until Wei Wuxian brought Lan Wangji into the ancestral hall that the suppressed anger was awakened again, swallowing his reason and manners.

Wei Wuxian suppressed something, and said, “Jiang WanYin, you… apologize immediately.”

Jiang Cheng sneered, “Apologize? Why should I apologize? For interrupting your good time?”

Wei Wuxian said angrily, “Hanguang-Jun is just my friend, what do you think our relationship is! I’m warning you, apologize to me immediately, don’t force me to beat you!”

Hearing this, Lan Wangji’s expression stiffened. Jiang Cheng scoffed, “Well, I’ve never seen a ‘friend’ like that. You’re warning me? What will you use to warn me? If you two had any shame at all, you shouldn’t have come to this place…”

Seeing Lan Wangji’s change in expression, Wei Wuxian thought he was hurt by Jiang Cheng’s words, and he began to tremble with anger. He didn’t dare think too much, how Lan Wangji would feel in his heart after suffering such an insult. The anger in his heart leaped up, his brain heated, and he flung out a talisman with a flick of his hand, “Have you had enough!”

The talisman was fast and fierce, hitting Jiang Cheng’s right shoulder with a boom, making him stumble. Jiang Cheng hadn’t expected Wei Wuxian to suddenly attack and his own spiritual energy was not fully recovered, so he was hit directly. Blood appeared on his shoulder, and a look of disbelief flashed across his face. Zidian immediately flew out from between his fingers, crackling and striking out. Bichen unsheathed to block the blow. The three began to fight in front of the ancestral hall. Jiang Cheng’s eyes were bloodshot and he said fiercely, “Fine! Let’s fight then! Are you two afraid of me!”

After exchanging a few moves, Wei Wuxian suddenly woke up: This was the Yunmeng Jiang ancestral hall. He had just been kneeling here, praying for the blessings of Jiang Fengmian and his wife, and now he was actually attacking their son in front of them with Lan Wangji!

It was like a cold waterfall had poured down on him. His vision suddenly flickered. Lan Wangji glanced at him and suddenly grabbed his shoulder. Jiang Cheng’s expression also changed, retracting his whip, his eyes flashing with caution. Lan Wangji said, “Wei Ying?!”

His low voice buzzed in Wei Wuxian’s ears, shaking incessantly. Wei Wuxian suspected his ears were broken, and asked, “What’s wrong?”

He felt something crawling on his face. He raised a hand to touch it, and found a handful of scarlet. Accompanied by dizziness, blood was still dripping from his nose and mouth, falling to the ground.

This time it was really not an act.

Wei Wuxian grabbed Lan Wangji’s arm to barely stay standing, and seeing that Lan Wangji’s freshly changed white clothes were stained red with his blood, he couldn’t help but reach out to wipe it, and worried at the wrong time, “I got his clothes dirty again.”

Lan Wangji said, “How are you?!”

Wei Wuxian answered irrelevantly, “Lan Zhan… let’s go.”

    Let’s go immediately.

    And never come back.

    Lan Wangji said, “Okay.”

He had no intention of fighting with Jiang Cheng anymore, and without saying a word, he picked him up and left. Jiang Cheng was both shocked and suspicious, shocked by Wei Wuxian’s sudden bleeding from all orifices, and suspicious that it was an act by Wei Wuxian to escape. After all, Wei Wuxian had often used this trick in the past to play pranks. Seeing the two about to leave, he said, “Stop!”

Lan Wangji said angrily, “Get out of the way!”

Along with his words came Bichen, with its momentum suddenly shifting to furious rage. A bolt of Zidian immediately flew out, and the two divine weapons collided, emitting a piercing screech. Stunned by the screech, as if a candle that was about to be extinguished was finally snuffed out, Wei Wuxian felt a splitting headache, closed his eyes, and his head fell. Realizing the weight on his shoulder, Lan Wangji immediately pulled out of the battle to check his breathing. With Bichen losing the support of its master, the attack of Zidian immediately pressed forward. Jiang Cheng didn’t want to really hurt Lan Wangji, and immediately retracted his whip, but it was too late. Just then, a figure jumped down from the side, blocking between the two.

Jiang Cheng focused his eyes and saw the uninvited guest that had suddenly come in was Wen Ning. He was immediately enraged, “Who allowed you to come inside Lotus Pier?! How dare you!”

He could still barely tolerate others, but this Wen dog, who had personally pierced Jin Zixuan’s heart with a single blow, and ruined his sister’s happiness and life, he absolutely could not tolerate. Just looking at him made him want to kill him immediately. And he dared to set foot inside Lotus Pier, he was really courting death!

Because of these two lives and many other reasons, Wen Ning felt guilty, and had always held a fear of Jiang Cheng, consciously avoiding him. But at this moment, he was standing in front of Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji, facing him directly. He took a heavy blow, a terrifying burnt mark appearing on his chest, but he didn’t retreat.

Realizing that Wei Wuxian was just extremely tired and his heart was racing, and had fainted for the moment, Lan Wangji turned his gaze. He saw Wen Ning holding something in his hand, and handing it to Jiang Cheng. The Zidian in Jiang Cheng’s right hand was so bright it had almost turned white, as intense as the killing intent in his heart. He laughed in extreme anger, “What do you want to do?”

That thing was Wei Wuxian’s sword, Suibian. Wei Wuxian had found it troublesome to hold it all the way and had randomly tossed it around, and in the end had given it to Wen Ning to keep. Wen Ning held it up and said, “Draw it out.”

His tone was determined, and his eyes were firm. It was completely different from his usual dull and sluggish appearance.

Jiang Cheng said, “I warn you, if you don’t want to be ground to ashes again, immediately move your feet off the soil of Lotus Pier and get out!”

Wen Ning nearly thrust the hilt of the sword into his chest. He raised his voice, and shouted, “Do it, draw it!”

Jiang Cheng’s heart was filled with anger, his heart was pounding, and inexplicably, he actually did as Wen Ning had said, using his left hand to grip Suibian’s hilt, and pulling it out with force.

A snow-white and blindingly bright sword came out of the simple scabbard!

Jiang Cheng lowered his head and stared at the gleaming long sword in his hand. It took a long while to return to his senses.

This sword was Suibian. It was Wei Wuxian’s sword. After the siege of the Burial Mounds, it was collected by the Lanling Jin Sect. It had automatically sealed itself a long time ago. Everyone who had seen it later had not been able to draw it from its scabbard.

But why had he been able to draw it out? Had the seal been released?

Wen Ning said, “It’s not that the seal was released! Even now, it’s still sealed. If you put it back into the scabbard and have someone else try, no matter who, they wouldn’t be able to draw it.”

Jiang Cheng’s mind and face were a mess, “Then why can I draw it?”

Wen Ning said, “Because this sword recognizes you as Young Master Wei.”

Lan Wangji stood up, carrying the unconscious Wei Wuxian on his back.

Jiang Cheng said sternly, “What do you mean it recognizes me as Wei Wuxian? How does it recognize me! Why is it me?!”

Wen Ning said even more sternly, “Because the golden core that is now circulating spiritual energy in your body is his!”
