    Chapter 73: Mu Xi

After Chu Zhaoyi finished listening to Gu Yusen’s piano piece, he received a message from Gu Yusen.

[San Mu Gege]: Are you sleepy? Want to head back?

Gu Yusen also didn’t particularly enjoy noisy environments. After his performance, he wanted to leave. Just as he finished sending the message to Chu Zhaoyi and looked up, he saw a familiar person.

“Long time no see, San Mu. Your piano playing is still as amazing as ever.” The girl in front of him had a gentle smile on her face and was holding a bouquet of flowers, which she offered to Gu Yusen.

    Gu Yusen raised an eyebrow.

“Mu Xi, it’s certainly been a while.”

Mu Xi smiled. She was undeniably a great beauty, with a slender figure and a delicate, gentle demeanor, like a refined young lady cultivated in an ancient family.

“There was a competition a while ago, so I went to another province. I told you about it,” Mu Xi said with a hint of complaint in her soft tone, raising the hand holding the flowers a little higher.

“San Mu should be a gentleman. Aren’t you going to accept the flowers?”

Gu Yusen had a strange habit. Every time he finished performing, someone would always offer him flowers, but he didn’t want them, so he never accepted them.

Mu Xi knew his personality and didn’t insist, but she helplessly retracted her hand.

“You, how will you ever find a girlfriend if you keep acting like this?”

Gu Yusen nonchalantly twirled his phone in his hand. Why wasn’t the phone making any noise? Had Chu Jiaojiao not seen it?

“Oh, I heard your family adopted someone,” Mu Xi said, placing the flowers on a nearby table and making small talk.

“Yeah,” Gu Yusen replied languidly, unwilling to say more.

He and Mu Xi had a decent relationship. Despite her gentle appearance, she could really hold her liquor.

Before adopting Chu Jiaojiao, he would occasionally go to clubs to have a few drinks with people. Mu Xi had started joining him at some point, and he hadn’t paid much attention at first. But despite her delicate face, she could drink more than any of them.

It was like Chu Zhaoyi staring at that beautiful, expressionless face and then lifting a three-hundred-pound sledgehammer.

Gu Yusen was amused by his own thought and couldn’t help but let the corners of his mouth turn up.

“What are you thinking about, looking so happy?” Mu Xi was curious, seeing Gu Yusen space out for a while before smiling.

“Could it be you’re thinking about your girlfriend?” It certainly seemed like it.

“No,” Gu Yusen said, suppressing the smile on his face.

“Don’t call me San Mu, just use my name,” Gu Yusen said, realizing that he felt uncomfortable with that nickname. Only one of his good friends used it, mimicking his mother’s way of calling him, and he had initially been annoyed and tried to correct him, but eventually just gave up.

But that didn’t mean anyone could call him that so casually.

It made him seem so frivolous.

The expression on Mu Xi’s face stiffened for a moment, but she quickly recovered. “I apologize, I was being presumptuous.”

Gu Yusen waved his hand. It was a bit rude to embarrass the girl like that, but he was famous for disliking people calling him that, and Mu Xi knew it.

“Is there anything else?” Gu Yusen asked, seeing that Mu Xi didn’t seem to be leaving. He wondered if she had something else to talk about.

    “Are you leaving already?”

    “Yeah.”

“In a little while, I…” Mu Xi was interrupted by Gu Yusen before she could finish her sentence.

Gu Yusen’s attention was initially on Mu Xi, but he caught sight of the little red-haired boy slowly shuffling towards them at the entrance, and his attention was immediately drawn to him.

    “Chu Zhaoyi! Over here!”

The little red-haired boy moved and looked up, revealing an exquisite face. Seeing Gu Yusen’s figure, he quickened his pace.

“San Mu Gege,” Chu Zhaoyi said. He had headed backstage as soon as he received Gu Yusen’s message. He had arrived while Gu Yusen was talking to Mu Xi.

“Why did you come by yourself? Why didn’t you wait for me to come find you?” Gu Yusen casually ruffled the boy’s red hair.

His gaze fell on Chu Zhaoyi’s hand, and he noticed that the boy was clutching a small wildflower, which he had probably picked from the flowerbeds on campus.

“So you came to give your gege flowers,” Gu Yusen said, his tone changing to something a little mischievous, the word “gege” sounding like flirting.

But neither of them seemed to notice.

Chu Zhaoyi proudly held up the little wildflower. “Give flower.”

Zhang Haoyu had said that many people who performed would receive flowers, and he had taken it to heart. But he didn’t have any flowers, so he had just picked one outside.

    It was very shabby.

But Gu Yusen liked it very much.

Usually, he was the one who had to lower himself and chase after people to give them flowers. Now that the roles were reversed, it felt a bit strange.

“I’ll take it. I’ll put it in your vase at home,” Gu Yusen said, taking the humble wildflower. His other hand was naturally grabbed by the unreserved little thing that was Chu Jiaojiao.

Mu Xi looked at their intertwined hands and the humble wildflower in Gu Yusen’s hand.

The expensive, rare flowers she had bought were lying forlornly on the table, unable to be given away.

But this wildflower was being treasured in someone’s palm.

    How ridiculous.

“Oh right, Mu Xi, what were you going to say just now?” Gu Yusen remembered Mu Xi’s hesitant words and politely asked, feeling he should let her finish what she wanted to say.

“I was going to say, I’m performing a classical dance later. Would you come and show your support?” Mu Xi knew about Chu Zhaoyi and Gu Yusen’s relationship. That face of his was going crazy on the forum especially after tonight, there were many posts simping for him.

For a moment, the heat of previous scandal posts was instead reduced.

Gu Yusen didn’t think he had a particularly good relationship with Mu Xi and directly refused, “I’m a bit tired, I want to go back and rest. Sorry.”

He was polite to everyone on the surface, but always carried a sense of distance in his bones.

Mu Xi hadn’t had much hope, and she was still disappointed at the answer. She forced a smile. “Then you should get some rest. I’ll go prepare.”

“The person’s already gone, why are you still looking?” Gu Yusen poked Chu Zhaoyi’s face with the wildflower, dissatisfied. This kid, his gaze had been fixed on her since Mu Xi started speaking.

His eyeballs were about to pop out.

    Such a little flirt.

Chu Zhaoyi watched Mu Xi’s departing figure, thinking in his mind. He could feel similar emotions from Mu Xi as from Zhang Xuan.

They were both directed at Gu Yusen.

    It wasn’t a bad emotion.

But it would steal San Mu Gege away.

Chu Zhaoyi’s mood instantly dropped when he realized this.

    Hate her.

    Think of a way.

Chu Zhaoyi wore all his emotions on his face, and Gu Yusen immediately sensed something was wrong when he saw him like this.

How had he not noticed? This boy even has a bit of antisocial personality, immediately hating someone upon meeting them.

“Chu Jiaojiao, what bad ideas are you thinking about?” Gu Yusen tugged at the boy’s hair, trying to pull the strange thoughts out of Chu Zhaoyi’s mind.

Gu Yusen wasn’t enlightened about things like emotions, but in a moment of inspiration, and thinking about Zhang Xuan, he could vaguely sense that Mu Xi had some excess feelings for him. However, she hadn’t done anything too excessive, so he hadn’t paid any attention to it.

    So Chu Jiaojiao was jealous.

    “Jealous?”

Chu Zhaoyi looked confused. There was no vinegar here?

“I don’t have any relationship with her. Not even ordinary friends. Keep those bad ideas in your head, and if you do bad things again, I won’t let you draw for a year, do you hear me?!”

The expression on Chu Zhaoyi’s face instantly became richer, and his features were all scrunched together.

The last few days had been too boring, he didn’t want that.
