Chapter 166 Gathering
A gathering is just everyone having a meal together. Almost thirty people in the class all arrived and shared taxis to the restaurant.
Zhang Haoyu, as the organizer, and a few class committee members went to the restaurant in advance to order the food.
It wasn’t a very high-end place, but it was clean and tidy, and had a good reputation among university students.
Chu Zhaoyi naturally went with Gu Yusen, but Gu Yusen wanted him to break away and socialize independently, so he excused himself, saying he had something to do, dropped him off, and left, saying he would pick him up after it was over.
Chu Zhaoyi pouted unhappily, but he was very obedient and nodded.
Everyone was a bit reserved at first, after all, no one had interacted with Chu Zhaoyi before. Sitting there with such a beautiful face, and the identity of the Gu family heir’s lover and the Xie family’s second son, he felt a little oppressive.
But more than that, they felt curious.
Some of the bolder ones would even pick topics to talk to Chu Zhaoyi about. Chu Zhaoyi wasn’t so uncooperative as to completely ignore people, though he didn’t say much.
He was much easier to get along with than everyone imagined.
But in reality, everyone knew very little about him. What little they knew came from the forum, which was later proven to be Xie Haoran’s deliberate slander, but it inevitably left everyone with a bad impression.
Everyone thought Chu Zhaoyi was the kind of arrogant genius who looked down on them and therefore disdained to interact too much. They thought he was cold and aloof, but ruthless when he took action, seeing how Xie Haoran had been messed up.
But it was his own fault.
However, after spending the evening together, everyone believed Zhang Haoyu’s description of Chu Zhaoyi.
“Zhaoyi is just quiet and has a detached personality, but he’s a really good person!”
Leaving aside Chu Zhaoyi’s identity, everyone was curious about a genius. Some people who loved painting mustered up the courage to ask Chu Zhaoyi for advice on areas they were struggling with.
They thought he would casually brush them off like Xie Haoran, but the young man’s eyes lit up, and he actually spoke more. After looking at the paintings the students brought, he offered some suggestions.
Although his words were very direct and didn’t sound very pleasant,
they were all genuinely useful knowledge.
Zhang Haoyu watched as a joyful gathering turned into a study session, and he was emotionally drained.
“Can we put the studying aside, classmates?”
“It’s not like Zhaoyi will disappear after today, you can chat with him anytime later.”
“It’s a happy day today, let’s not study, classmates!”
Zhang Haoyu was in agony.
“You little brat, how did your painting skills improve so rapidly during that time! I thought you got guidance from the dean! Tell me! Did you secretly ask Zhaoyi for advice!”
“You kept such a good thing from your brothers, huh!”
The students teased Zhang Haoyu one after another, but didn’t continue to bring up painting. He was right, it was bad luck to talk about studying on a happy day.
After this, Chu Zhaoyi friended many people in the class and was pulled into some strange groups, like gossip groups.
He wasn’t very interested and put down his phone after a glance.
After eating, everyone suggested going to sing, but Chu Zhaoyi didn’t want to go. He still couldn’t get used to being in such a crowded scene. Socializing was a burden for him.
Everyone felt that Chu Zhaoyi coming to the gathering was already a big favor, so they didn’t say anything more.
Chu Zhaoyi watched the students leave in twos and threes. Some weren’t going to play and were going back to the dormitory to rest, while others were going to sing.
He had to wait here for Brother Sanmu to pick him up.
Although Gu Yusen made an excuse not to go, he actually had things to do. His and Lu Eryin’s company was usually quiet, but after so much recently, Gu Yusen realized he couldn’t rely solely on the Gu family.
What if his parents had some strange ideas in the future, he wouldn’t even have room to resist.
Gu Yusen didn’t want to face those three days again.
Later, hearing Zhang Anru describe Chu Zhaoyi’s condition, he felt even more heartbroken.
So recently, he wasn’t acting like a slacker second-generation heir anymore, and was determined to develop his own business.
Naturally, he was also a bit busier.
But picking up Chu Zhaoyi was still a non-negotiable routine.
Work was important,
but his lover was also important.
Gu Yusen would be late, so he asked Chu Zhaoyi if he wanted the driver to take him home first, but when Chu Zhaoyi went to the convenience store to buy something, he found the seats by the window were very nice.
Hearing Gu Yusen say he still needed some time, he decided to sit in the convenience store for a while and draw.
“Okay, are you inside the convenience store? It’s cold, don’t stay outside for too long, or you’ll get sick again.” Gu Yusen was faintly worried. Chu Zhaoyi’s health was a constant concern.
“Yes, I am.”
Chu Zhaoyi sat by the window in the convenience store, holding a cup of hot milk he had just bought. The warm sensation was transmitted to his palm through the paper cup.
He gently exhaled, and white mist condensed on the glass window, blurring the scenery outside.
He raised his finger and unconsciously drew a few strokes on the mist. Several clear marks appeared on the glass, and the river view outside was vaguely visible through these marks.
The scenery outside was indeed very nice.
“Okay, I’ll need about an hour. If you get tired of waiting, have the driver take you home.”
Gu Yusen could faintly hear someone calling him, and Chu Zhaoyi nodded, “Okay, Brother Sanmu, go ahead and get busy.”
After hanging up, Chu Zhaoyi frowned, clearly unhappy.
Brother Sanmu was so busy.
He wanted to be with Gu Yusen all day and didn’t like various people appearing close to Gu Yusen. Only after understanding desire did he realize that these feelings stemmed from possessiveness.
Never mind.
Chu Zhaoyi remembered his engrossed state when he was painting and guiltily shrank his head.
Gu Yusen often scolded him, “When you start painting, you don’t even want me anymore.”
Although he said it like scolding, his voice was just a bit loud.
Gu Yusen had never truly been fierce with him.
At most, he would just raise his voice and shout a few times when he was frustrated.
