Chapter Index

“Why are you looking for me? Miss Mu, we’re not acquainted, right?” Mo Jincheng looked at the woman in front of him, puzzled. Not many people in A City knew his identity. The Mo family’s power struggle had been all over the news some time ago, and it had finally come to an end.

No one expected that the youngest member of the Mo family, who ultimately succeeded in seizing power, would appear here.

He was in a terrible mood after being rejected, and he wasn’t in the mood to deal with inexplicable people.

“Mo Jincheng, let’s talk about a collaboration,” Mu Xi said, completely different from her obedient demeanor in front of Madam Gu.

“Your bargaining chip?” Mo Jincheng raised an eyebrow, swirling the wine in his glass, making it impossible to tell if he was interested or not.

“You like Chu Zhaoyi,” Mu Xi coldly spat out these words.

“That’s hardly a secret.” Indeed, he had never hidden his pursuit of Chu Zhaoyi. It wasn’t surprising that someone knew about it.

“Gu Yusen and I grew up together. Suddenly, this person comes out of nowhere and steals Gu Yusen away. How could I be willing!”

“A man who just happens to have a captivating, seductive look!”

Mu Xi gritted her teeth as she said this.

But the next second, her neck was grabbed.

“What kind of person are you to slander A-Yi?” Mo Jincheng put away his cynical demeanor, his eyes filled with disgust.

Mo Jincheng’s fingers tightened around Mu Xi’s neck, the pressure gradually increasing, his eyes revealing an icy chill. Mu Xi’s face turned red due to lack of oxygen, her hands desperately clutching his wrist, trying to break free, but to no avail.

“You…let go…” Her voice was intermittent, a hint of panic flashing in her eyes, but it was quickly replaced by stubbornness.

Mo Jincheng stared at her coldly, his voice low and dangerous, “What kind of person are you to slander A-Yi?”

Mu Xi forced a sarcastic smile, “You…you think you can…get him like this? Chu Zhaoyi only has…Gu Yusen in his eyes…You’re just a…joke…”

Mo Jincheng’s fingers paused slightly, the chill in his eyes intensified. He suddenly released her, and Mu Xi staggered back a few steps, clutching her neck and gasping for breath, but still wearing a provocative smile.

“Mo Jincheng, you and I both know that Chu Zhaoyi won’t choose you, just like Gu Yusen won’t choose me.” Mu Xi’s voice was hoarse, but with an almost fanatical obsession, “We cooperate, each getting what we need, isn’t that good?”

“Why do you think I would cooperate with you?” he asked coldly.

Mu Xi chuckled, her tone confident, “Because you, like me, are not willing to give up. You’re not willing that Chu Zhaoyi will never see you, and I’m not willing for Gu Yusen to be stolen by an outsider. We cooperate, and we can get what we want.”

“Clearly, you’re the one who understands Chu Zhaoyi the most. You have the same ideas about painting, you’re the most compatible two souls in the world!”

Mo Jincheng did not answer immediately. He turned his gaze back to the window, Chu Zhaoyi’s figure appearing in his mind. The thin teenager usually had no emotion when looking at him, unless he said something particularly appealing, then those dark eyes would be stained with some color.

But when facing Gu Yusen, those eyes were always full of smiles.

He remembered the back view of him leaving that night after he rejected his confession, resolute and indifferent.

It seemed that all of this person’s warmth was given to that person named Gu Yusen.

After a long time, he slowly opened his mouth, his voice low and cold, “Okay, I agree to you. But if you dare to hurt A-Yi, I will make you wish you were dead.”

A hint of triumph flashed in Mu Xi’s eyes. She reached out her hand and said softly, “Happy cooperation.”

Mo Jincheng did not shake her hand but turned to leave, leaving only a cold sentence behind.

    “Remember your promise.”
