    Chapter 136: Disgust

Chu Zhaoyi wasn’t feeling well. Luckily, he didn’t have many classes on Thursday and Friday, so he asked Professor Qin to help him take a leave of absence.

Since the last competition, Professor Qin had been organizing an art exhibition, mainly showcasing his own paintings and some precious exhibits. He even specially set up an exhibition hall to display Chu Zhaoyi’s works.

It was clear that he wanted to use his fame to boost Chu Zhaoyi’s reputation.

Fortunately, Chu Zhaoyi had a lot of paintings from the past, which had been carefully collected by Gu Yusen. He handed them all over to Professor Qin, letting him choose.

However, the largest painting in the exhibition hall would still be a newly painted piece by Chu Zhaoyi, his most satisfying work.

Professor Qin was very much looking forward to this exhibition, and Gu Yusen also understood the benefits it could bring to Chu Zhaoyi. Chu Zhaoyi himself understood this as well.

Therefore, Chu Zhaoyi had been painting the same painting these days. The reason he agreed to go see paintings with Mo Jincheng was also to gather some inspiration.

Not having classes was also a good opportunity to calm down and paint.

But Chu Zhaoyi never liked to be disturbed when he calmed down to paint. On the second day of coming to the Xie family, at one o’clock at noon, Zhang Anru and Xie Tingyun stood at the door of the painting studio, looking at each other.

They had knocked on the door twice, but there had been no response from inside.

“Could something have happened?” Zhang Anru was really worried. They had learned about Chu Zhaoyi’s mental illness. Mason had said that the situation had been much more stable recently, and with medication, he was basically no different from a normal person.

Mason was the one who knew Gu Yusen’s position in Chu Zhaoyi’s heart best, but he didn’t know that the two were currently forced to separate. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have dared to make this guarantee.

“Should we just go in and take a look? It wouldn’t be good if something happened.” Xie Tingyun was also a little worried.

After discussing it, the two didn’t care about politeness anymore and directly pushed the door open. They breathed a sigh of relief when they saw the scene inside.

Chu Zhaoyi was immersed in the colors and lines on the canvas, his paintbrush moving across the canvas as if the whole world was irrelevant to him.

Zhang Anru and Xie Tingyun’s entry didn’t attract his attention until Zhang Anru gently walked to his side, then he realized someone was approaching.

Chu Zhaoyi subconsciously frowned and looked up, his dark eyes devoid of any emotion. He didn’t like being disturbed during creation, especially by this kind of sudden intrusion.

However, when he saw that it was Zhang Anru standing in front of him, the displeasure in his eyes instantly dissipated, replaced by a gentle smile.

He put down his paintbrush, took out his hearing aid from his pocket, and skillfully put it on. Only then did Zhang Anru notice that Chu Zhaoyi wasn’t wearing his hearing aid, no wonder he didn’t hear them knocking.

It would be more convenient to heal his ears as soon as possible.

Thinking of Chu Zhaoyi’s ears, Zhang Anru felt another pang of heartache, only hating that Chu Yu had died too easily.

“Ah Yi, did we disturb you? It’s time for lunch. We called you several times, but you didn’t respond, so we were a little worried and came in directly.”

Chu Zhaoyi looked at the time and realized it was already one o’clock.

In the past, Gu Yusen would come in directly, he himself didn’t have the habit of paying attention to time.

“It’s okay, I didn’t pay attention to the time.”

Chu Zhaoyi put down his pen and stood up, following Zhang Anru out. But as soon as he reached the staircase, a sharp pain suddenly shot through his heart. This villa felt terrifyingly unfamiliar to him, the air filled with a cold sense of loneliness.

Without that familiar figure beside him, his breathing gradually became rapid, his chest feeling like it was being pressed down by something, making it difficult to breathe.

Chu Zhaoyi stopped, his fingers tightly gripping the handrail, his knuckles turning white from the force. His face was pale, and fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead. Xie Tingyun was the first to notice his abnormality and quickly supported him, his tone anxious: “Ah Yi, what’s wrong? Where do you feel uncomfortable?”

Chu Zhaoyi, unaccustomed to other people’s touch, subconsciously shook him off, his eyes with cold vision fell on Xie Tingyun’s face, for the first time, an emotion of disgust appeared.
