    Chapter 123: Watching a Movie

Gu Yusen saw the message sent by Lu Eryin, and he raised his head, looking at Chu Zhaoyi, who was eating, lost in thought.

Chu Zhaoyi was secretly trying to get the spinach out of his bowl. Noticing Gu Yusen’s gaze, he guiltily picked it back up and stuffed a mouthful into his mouth, his face wrinkling from the bitterness.

Gu Yusen couldn’t help but laugh, looking at Chu Zhaoyi’s scrunched-up face. He put down his phone and reached out to ruffle Chu Zhaoyi’s hair a couple of times. “Do you hate spinach that much?”

Chu Zhaoyi pursed his lips and didn’t say anything, but he looked at Gu Yusen with those clear eyes, a hint of accusation in his gaze.

He wasn’t particularly picky about food; he disliked every kind of food equally, but he especially hated spinach.

    It tasted bitter, he thought.

“Chu Jiaojiao, look how weak you are. It must be because you don’t eat spinach like Popeye!” Gu Yusen teased, deliberately provoking him.

“!” Chu Zhaoyi was a person with a bland personality and rarely cared about anything, but as a boy, being weak was definitely a thorn in his side.

Gu Yusen was overjoyed in his heart at this sight, but his face remained serious.

Chu Zhaoyi hesitated for a while and finally picked up a chopstick of spinach, his movements slow as if he had made a huge decision.

Even though his face didn’t show much emotion, Gu Yusen could still see a sense of “bearing a heavy burden of humiliation” from the slight tension in the corners of his mouth and the furrow between his eyebrows.

Just as the spinach was about to enter Chu Zhaoyi’s mouth, Gu Yusen suddenly reached out and gently grabbed his wrist. He leaned in slightly, turned the chopsticks in a different direction, and put the spinach in his own mouth.

He chewed it a couple of times, smiling like a smug fox. “Don’t eat it if you don’t like it. I was just kidding.”

After all, he could get nutrients from other vegetables. Chu Zhaoyi was just a bit weak physically.

This action was somewhat ambiguous, but Chu Zhaoyi still didn’t react much, only realizing that he had been tricked. A trace of embarrassment and annoyance flashed across his face.

He pursed his lips and muttered softly, “…Childish.”

You say he doesn’t like Gu Yusen, but he can accept his chopsticks with Gu Yusen’s saliva and continue using them without any concern.

You say he likes him, but he’s too frank.

Gu Yusen’s mind flashed back to the message Lu Eryin sent him.

    Could it really be?

After all, Chu Zhaoyi doesn’t have much common sense…

With this speculation, Gu Yusen made a decisive decision and took Chu Zhaoyi to watch a movie that night. It was a romance movie, and the main characters were two men.

To make Chu Zhaoyi want to watch it, he specifically chose a film where one of the main characters was a painter.

As expected, Chu Zhaoyi became interested, nestled in Gu Yusen’s arms, found a comfortable position to watch, and held a pillow in his hands.

Gu Yusen cut up some fruit and occasionally fed Chu Zhaoyi a bite or two. This kid didn’t like to eat, so Gu Yusen always had to think of ways to give him some nutrients.

Chu Zhaoyi watched with great interest until the two main characters hugged and kissed.

Even if he lacked common sense, he knew that kissing was something that only partners did.

Weren’t partners supposed to be of the opposite sex?

Although he was very close to Gu Yusen, the most he did was bite his face, and the most outrageous thing was just that day when he was bewitched by the smoke and inexplicably licked Gu Yusen’s mouth.

Chu Zhaoyi hesitated and glanced at Gu Yusen, then at the two main characters on the screen. Now they were fast-forwarding to the confession stage. One protagonist was saying some love words, his face full of sincerity.

The other’s face was full of emotion, even with tears welling up in his eyes.

In the movie Gu Yusen had chosen, the two main characters were actually very similar to him and Gu Yusen in personality. Chu Zhaoyi couldn’t help but feel a sense of identification, so when he saw this scene.

He imagined, if this kind of behavior happened between them…

Then his relationship with Brother Sanmu would be even closer, right?

“Brother Sanmu, can people of the same sex be partners too?”

In his mind, Gu Yusen was someone who knew everything, so it was sure to be right to ask him.

Little did he know that Gu Yusen was wagging his fox tail, waiting for him to deliver himself into his mouth.

“Of course, people of the same sex can also become partners, just like the two people in the movie. Love has many forms. As long as two people truly love each other and are willing to be together, they can become partners, whether they are of the same sex or of different sexes.”

The word “love” was actually very foreign to Chu Zhaoyi.

The first time he experienced love was from Li Yurong towards Xie Haoran. He was like a little mouse peeking at someone else’s happiness, secretly hiding in the sewer listening to Li Yurong’s care for Xie Haoran.

This was the first time he realized what love was.

Why did he have such a deep obsession with Gu Yusen when he was a child?

Because Chu Zhaoyi first experienced something similar to love with Gu Yusen, unconditional protection and favoritism, although brief, was warm enough.

He felt that he could get what he wanted from Gu Yusen.

So, finding Gu Yusen became his obsession.

As expected, Brother Sanmu didn’t disappoint him. From the first time they met until now, he has been gradually breaking through the boundaries between them, reaching their current intimacy, all of which was intentional on Chu Zhaoyi’s part.

How could he not know that their relationship was even closer than that of blood brothers?

But wasn’t all of this the result of Gu Yusen’s indulgence?

Chu Zhaoyi seemed to understand a little. He was actually very smart. From the night he licked Gu Yusen’s mouth, it was as if they had broken through some invisible boundary.

Gu Yusen became more and more indulgent towards him.

He could feel a sudden, intense emotion from Gu Yusen.

He liked it, enjoyed it, but didn’t understand it.

Until now, he seemed to understand a little.

Gu Yusen hadn’t said it, but his actions had already explained everything, not to mention that he had deliberately dragged him to watch this kind of movie tonight. If the similarity between the two protagonists and their own personalities was a coincidence, Chu Zhaoyi wouldn’t believe it.

Chu Zhaoyi thought of Gu Yusen scratching his head and cheeks as he selected from a pile of movies and found it a little funny.

He had always been a straightforward person who didn’t consider those roundabout ways.

So, Chu Zhaoyi touched Gu Yusen’s cheek.

“So Brother Sanmu doesn’t want me to go to the Gu family to be your younger brother, but wants to become my partner instead?”
