HUFT Chapter 29
by VolareChapter 29
“I shouldn’t meddle in matters between you two.”
Fu Shi said, then added another sentence.
“Would you be willing to listen to his story? Perhaps he won’t seem so unforgivable. I’m not trying to defend him, but to gain him a little sympathy.”
After Fu Shi finished speaking, Chi Nan didn’t reply. What kind of story could Fu Chaoyun have? Would such a dazzling celebrity also have unhappy stories?
“Chaoyun was mostly raised by me when he was little. Our parents were constantly busy with company matters, so they rarely cared for us. He could count the number of times he saw our parents on both hands. He used to tell me that he always slept restlessly at night. I wasn’t very old at the time and didn’t think too deeply about it. I just told him some sleep methods, but who knew it would get more and more serious later on? I then remembered to call my parents. They took Chaoyun to the best hospitals, but it was all in vain. The doctor called it insomnia syndrome, mostly caused by psychological factors.”
“Fu Chaoyun didn’t receive his parents’ love when he was young. I raised him and he didn’t turn out badly, but he developed a mental illness. After my parents found out it was caused by their negligence, they wanted to make up for it frantically, but by that time, Chaoyun had become somewhat cold. His parents were like familiar elders to him. He could no longer be close to them or act spoiled in their arms. They were like the most familiar strangers. My parents could only keep looking for doctors. The doctors only prescribed some soothing medications to maintain his condition. Later, he entered the entertainment industry, and then later, he met you.”
Fu Shi looked at Chi Nan after she finished speaking.
“You thought he was deceiving you to treat his illness, but in fact, you are his only cure in the world.”
“I’ll go first. You stay here with him. Wen Ci is still waiting for me at home.”
After Fu Shi finished speaking, she stood up and went back home from the hospital. Saying that Wen Ci was waiting at home was just an excuse; it could also be said that she was giving Chi Nan space to think. As Fu Shi said, she wasn’t trying to defend Fu Chaoyun, but just wanted to gain him a little sympathy, to see what weight Fu Chaoyun held in Chi Nan’s heart.
After Fu Shi left, Chi Nan entered the ward, looking at the sleeping Fu Chaoyun. He had thought, what worries could a bright and beautiful star like Fu Chaoyun have? He could have anything he wanted, a person surrounded by admirers. It turned out that Fu Chaoyun had such a miserable childhood.
“So, you also had a miserable life.”
Chi Nan said, looking at Fu Chaoyun, not knowing if Fu Chaoyun could hear him. He wanted to laugh at Fu Chaoyun, but then he started crying. Wasn’t he miserable too? Fu Chaoyun suffered, but didn’t he suffer too? Why did he have to lie to him?
Chi Nan buried his arm on Fu Chaoyun’s hospital bed, his tears smearing the quilt.
Fu Chaoyun was awakened by the crying, feeling a headache. He had been sleeping well but was disturbed again. He opened his eyes and saw a fluffy head of hair. He knew it was the little kid. Instantly, his headache disappeared. He reached out and rubbed the little kid’s hair.
“Fu Chaoyun, you’re awake.”
Chi Nan felt someone touching his head, so he looked up, his face still covered in tears, just looking at Fu Chaoyun like that.
“I’m not dead yet, why are you in such a hurry to mourn for me?”
Fu Chaoyun used a joking tone to ease the atmosphere between them. Chi Nan wanted to punch Fu Chaoyun when he heard this.
“Shut up.”
“Why are you crying so sadly? It really breaks my heart.”
As Fu Chaoyun spoke, he wanted to use his fingers to wipe away Chi Nan’s tears. How could he let his little kid cry? He was so irresponsible.
“Fu Shi told me everything. Although I sympathize with you, you still lied to me, so I haven’t planned to forgive you yet.”
“What did she tell you?”
“About your childhood.”
Chi Nan was a little embarrassed. How could he put it? He couldn’t help but feel sorry for Fu Chaoyun after learning about his miserable childhood, but the things he did when he grew up were so annoying that he wanted to beat him up to vent his anger.
“Then are you willing to listen to my explanation?”
Chi Nan didn’t say anything, neither willing nor unwilling. Fu Chaoyun slowly began to speak.
“Contacting you at the beginning was indeed a misunderstanding. The app was downloaded by Wen Ci, and she also matched you with me. I had just gotten off the plane and received your message. I originally wanted to uninstall it, but unexpectedly, your voice made me feel very relaxed. I admit that at first, I chatted with you because Lu Cheng told me that your voice could help me sleep. That’s why I talked to you. But later, when I saw you at A University, I dismissed that idea. I wanted to be your Uncle Fu, not to use you for treatment. There was a period of time in between when I didn’t contact you. I was thinking about whether I liked you because of your voice or because of that fleeting moment of infatuation. Later, it proved that I liked you, you as a person, Chi Nan.”
Fu Chaoyun paused for a moment and continued.
“I never thought of deceiving you at first, but I was afraid you wouldn’t be able to accept my identity. I never explicitly concealed anything either. I secretly hinted to you, little kid, but you were too dumb to guess. Later, I liked you very much and wanted to finish everything I promised you. As a result, I encountered Wen Ci, and things went wrong.”
After Fu Chaoyun finished speaking, Chi Nan opened his mouth.
“Then why didn’t you tell me at the beginning? If you had told me at the beginning, maybe I wouldn’t be so angry.”
“I never thought of deceiving you. Treating my illness is one thing, you are you, my little kid. After hearing my explanation, are you still angry?”
“Angry.”
Chi Nan said angrily. In theory, he was mostly not angry, but in front of Fu Chaoyun, he was just a little tsundere. He just wanted to be angry. He wanted to see what Fu Chaoyun would do.
“You have quite a temper. If you’re angry, what should I do?”
Fu Chaoyun smiled. He actually liked Chi Nan in this state, a little tsundere, but gentle and polite in front of outsiders. His little temper and unknown side were only seen by Fu Chaoyun, and only shown to Fu Chaoyun alone.
“How would I know what you would do?”
“Then how about I pursue you again?”
Fu Chaoyun turned over and put Chi Nan’s hand in his palm, holding Chi Nan tightly.
“Then pursue me if you can.”
Chi Nan’s eyes flickered. He himself was also very uncertain, but he still had a little secret joy in his heart. He hadn’t forgiven Fu Chaoyun yet, so what was the problem with letting him pursue him again?
But later, Chi Nan thought of another question, which was whether Fu Chaoyun pursuing him would affect his career.
