    Chapter 9 Blizzard

“Isn’t the food always cooked by you? Who can you blame if you’re not saving?”

“Wasn’t it you who said we can’t mistreat my Luo Shuyou and have to take good care of him?”

“I said we can’t mistreat my Luo Shuyou, but I didn’t say we can’t mistreat you. You’re the one who wants to eat, and now you’re blaming me? Besides, how much can my Luo Shuyou eat with that little appetite of his? Most of it still goes into your mouth.”

“Heh, don’t pass the buck. How many meals have I eaten at your place?”

“Never mind how many meals, you ate them, that’s the fact. Your leg is almost healed, right? Come with me to find supplies tomorrow.”

Lu Yunzhou looked like he suddenly understood, “So that’s it. You trusted me so much that you didn’t hesitate to show me all your secrets, and you even brought me to see this place. Turns out you were waiting for me here!”

“If I didn’t bring you to see for yourself, you would have thought I was bullying you, a wounded man, hiding food and not letting you eat.”

Lu Yunzhou was still heartbroken about the luxurious life he had been living these past few days. “No, what’s your mindset exactly? Don’t tell me you’ve been living like this without any restraint every day for the past month or so?”

“We really haven’t thought about saving a few bites.”

Lu Yunzhou looked incredibly disbelieving and heartbroken, using a tone of voice full of disappointment, “Do you know how difficult it is to find food outside now?”

“It’s been more than a month. Any food that’s slightly easier to get has already been looted. If you had saved a little bit before, you could have avoided so many unnecessary risks, you know that?”

Xie YunChuan had indeed miscalculated this and hadn’t considered it thoroughly. However, he wouldn’t be humble and accept the criticism. He shot a fierce glare, and Lu Yunzhou shut up.

Xie YunChuan said coldly, “Anyway, the food is gone. Let’s go find some together tomorrow.”

“Also, from now on, just make normal food for Luo Shuyou. As for us, it’s enough if we don’t die.”

Lu Yunzhou had no objections. It was his stuff, he could do whatever he wanted with it. He was just a guest under someone else’s roof, he had just been meddling.

In the evening, what Xie YunChuan had been worried about finally happened. It had been dry and cold below zero for more than a month, and now, a blizzard was falling outside.

“Do you think, with the snow covering everything, will it be more difficult for us, or for those things?”

Xie YunChuan looked at the snow-lit night outside the window and asked faintly.

“We need to live, but them… I’ve seen skeletal frames with only a few ounces of flesh left, wandering around with heavy heads hanging down.”

Lu Yunzhou didn’t directly answer his question, but the answer was obvious.

“With your strength, it wouldn’t have been difficult to leave before, even if you were carrying someone who was helpless. It would only have increased the difficulty a little. Why didn’t you leave?”

“The entire continent has fallen. Where would I go if I left?”

“I don’t believe you haven’t realized that Muyun City, definitely a disaster area.”

Xie YunChuan avoided answering and asked in return, “What about you?”

“Don’t you have the strength to leave?”

“I originally wanted to figure out the reason…”

    “And then?”

    “I overestimated myself.”

Xie YunChuan didn’t continue this topic and instead asked, “How’s your leg?”

“It’s basically healed. It didn’t damage the bone. It’ll hurt for a few days, but it’ll be fine after applying some medicine.”

Not wanting to say anything more, Xie YunChuan only reminded him, “Go to sleep. Turn the air conditioning down a bit, and cover yourself with a thick quilt. The power should go out tonight.”

Mentioning this, Lu Yunzhou wanted to ask, “Oh, I’ve been wondering for a while now, the power in other places has already collapsed, why is yours still working for so long?”

“This neighborhood has an Independent power system.”

Hearing this, Lu Yunzhou understood. Damn rich people, he lacked imagination about the lives of the rich.

In the middle of the night, the power did indeed go out. Even though he had been prepared, Xie YunChuan was still frozen awake.

Strangely, Luo Shuyou, who was usually most afraid of the cold and had a cold body, was still sleeping soundly. Xie YunChuan frowned and touched his body, puzzled. It was cool, not very icy, and not very warm, like the past few days. It seemed like the weather changes had no effect on him.

Xie YunChuan realized that Luo Shuyou’s body had been unnaturally cold ever since that day. Although it was normal for it to be a little cooler since it was already cold, it was a bit strange for it to be unchanging.

He hadn’t told Lu Yunzhou about this, which was also the reason why he had been nervously worried about Luo Shuyou these past few days.

He knew that something must have happened to Luo Shuyou. In this current era, there were too many inexplicable and unnatural events. He could only hope that the changes in him were good.

From the current looks of it, it shouldn’t be a bad thing.

Unable to fall back asleep anyway, and afraid to move around too much while lying down, Xie YunChuan simply got up carefully. After confirming that Luo Shuyou was just asleep and not having other problems, he tucked him in and tiptoed out.

After Xie YunChuan left, Luo Shuyou slowly opened his tightly closed eyes. He wasn’t woken up by the cold, he was woken up by the sound of the door closing.

Just as Xie YunChuan had guessed, Luo Shuyou’s body was now unafraid of cold and heat. In the darkness, he sensed the breath of snow falling on the earth. Without seeing it with his own eyes, he felt like he was in it, not feeling the cold, but clearly perceiving all kinds of subtle changes in the outside world.

Even Xie YunChuan had noticed it, so how could Luo Shuyou not know? This was his body, and he knew the changes that had happened to it better than anyone else.

He only hoped that it wouldn’t develop further into the unknown. He hated uncontrollable things. You could sense the changes, but you couldn’t stop them or control them.

As soon as Xie YunChuan came out, he saw Lu Yunzhou in the kitchen, shivering and rubbing his body up and down, rummaging around for something.

    “What are you doing?”

“Looking for something that can generate heat. If I don’t warm up, I’m going to turn into an ice cube.”

“Don’t bother looking. Everything in the kitchen runs on electricity. If the power’s out, it’s useless even if you find it.”

“Don’t you have any gas or anything in your house?”

    “No.”

    “Damn it!”

Looking at Xie YunChuan standing there like nothing was wrong, Lu Yunzhou couldn’t help but wonder, “Aren’t you cold?”

    Xie YunChuan: “Cold!”

“Then how are you standing there without moving, aren’t you afraid of turning into an ice sculpture?”

“I need to maintain my image.”

    Lu Yunzhou was speechless.

Xie YunChuan: “Stop looking. Go to the study and get some books and burn these furniture.”

Lu Yunzhou looked at the valuable solid wood furniture. “This isn’t ordinary wood, are you really going to burn it? Are you willing to?”

Xie YunChuan smiled, crossed his arms, and leaned against the door frame, “If I’m not willing, then let’s wait to die.”

“No, no, no, my little life is important, my little life is still important, I’ll go right away.”

Lu Yunzhou went to the study and randomly found a few books to light, first putting the small kindling inside to ignite.

He shouldn’t have asked that question. It wasn’t his house anyway, why was he feeling sorry for it?
