Chapter 40: The Little Zombie Eating Candy

Gu Tangxi spent some effort to deal with that low-level zombie. She had encountered this kind of evolved zombie a few times, so she was quite experienced in handling them.

As soon as she got the crystal core, she absorbed it. They all basically did this now, absorbing it promptly to restore energy, in case they encountered another attack and ran out of abilities, leaving them unable to cope.

“Are you a wood-type ability user?” Gu Tangxi asked Xie YunChuan as she approached him, then, looking at Luo Shuyou standing obediently beside him eating candy, she continued, “Is he with you?”

Xie YunChuan introduced himself, “My name is Xie YunChuan, a low-level wood-type ability user.” He didn’t say much about Luo Shuyou, hoping that these people would pay as little attention to Luo Shuyou as possible.

“My name is Gu Tangxi, a fire-type ability user.” After introducing herself, Gu Tangxi pointed to Gu Tangyue and said, “This is my sister, Gu Tangyue, an ordinary person.”

“The remaining three are Chen Jie, Wu Yunbin, and Zhou Zhongxiang, also all ordinary people.”

The zombies attracted by the fighting were gathering in this direction. Xie YunChuan casually killed one and said, “Let’s not talk too much, let’s deal with these zombies first.”

Except for Luo Shuyou and Gu Tangyue, everyone else joined the battle. Xie YunChuan, afraid of exposing Luo Shuyou’s identity, held him close during the fight.

Although these ordinary zombies had become much more agile after the end of the world, they were still no match for ability users like Xie YunChuan and Gu Tangxi. Killing them was as easy as pie.

Before long, the hundreds of zombies gathered in this small supermarket were all taken care of. The three men mainly surrounded Gu Tangyue, killing the attacking zombies, while the vast majority were dealt with by the two ability users, Xie YunChuan and Gu Tangxi.

Judging by their wood-type abilities, Xie YunChuan and Gu Tangxi were about the same. She should also be a low-level ability user. Gu Tangxi was quite skilled in using her abilities, indicating she had awakened for some time. It seemed that upgrading abilities was not an easy task.

The group found a place to sit and rest. Although quantity didn’t equal quality, a zombie sea tactic could still be exhausting.

“What’s the situation with the one beside you?” Gu Tangxi asked. After so long, they had also noticed that something was wrong with Luo Shuyou. No sane person would obediently be dragged through a pile of zombies without batting an eye.

Xie YunChuan explained in a low voice, “He was frightened by the zombies before, which caused some mental instability. His mind isn’t clear.” He wasn’t good at making up stories. This was the explanation he came up with during the fight, hoping it would fool them for a while.

“Oh, is that so?” Gu Tangyue was a little regretful. How could someone so beautiful and cute be scared silly!

But she could also understand. The end of the world came suddenly, a huge change occurring abruptly. Someone like him, who looked like a pampered young master, would be easily frightened.

Looking at the way Xie YunChuan took care of him so well, better than many normal people in the apocalypse, clean from head to toe, with a round and rosy face, he clearly hadn’t suffered much. “Are you his older brother? You take such good care of him!” Gu Tangyue exclaimed enviously.

Gu Tangxi flicked her head from the side. “Am I not taking good care of you? Envying others.”

Gu Tangyue quickly flattered her, “How could that be~! Sister is the best sister in the world, taking great care of me. I’m just envious of his good looks and fair skin.”

“That’s more like it! Stop envying him. Even if you were sent back to your mother’s womb for a remake, you wouldn’t look like him. At most, you’d look like me.”

“Looking like you is pretty good too. How come there’s such a big difference when we’re born from the same mother?” Gu Tangyue sighed.

Despite being genuine sisters, Gu Tangxi and Gu Tangyue looked completely different. Without being told, no one would think they were related.

Many times, after they said their similarly sounding names, people would jokingly say, “What a coincidence, your names are so similar. What a fate! If it weren’t for the big difference in appearance, I’d think you were sisters!”

Whenever this happened, Gu Tangxi would give a deadly glare and say in a low voice, “It’s not a coincidence, we are sisters.”

Then the person who said it would always show a surprised expression. So unfair.

From childhood to adulthood, Gu Tangyue had an average appearance, average figure, average height, and even average grades. It wasn’t that she was ugly, just a pretty, small-town girl with a cute baby face. She wasn’t bad on her own, but she didn’t have many opportunities to be seen on her own.

Good and bad are relative. It’s all because she had an outstanding older sister who was the complete opposite of her: tall, curvaceous, aloof, and peerlessly beautiful. Heh, the fact that she was good-looking was just her most unremarkable advantage. She was also very talented, succeeding at everything she did. Even in the apocalypse, she awakened a powerful fire-type ability. This was the difference.

Fortunately, Gu Tangyue was carefree. She didn’t care about her parents’ oppressive education or the comparisons and put-downs from relatives and friends. Hehe, the more they looked down on her because of her sister, the more her sister felt guilty and made up for it, basically giving her whatever she wanted. What more could she ask for? Being said a few things wouldn’t kill her. She should be secretly happy to have such a loving sister.

Of course, daily quarrels and bickering were inevitable.

Ahem! Her thoughts were running wild. Pull them back, pull them back.

Gu Tangxi said to Xie YunChuan, “We’re from Half-Moon City Base. We’re here on a mission to find supplies. A new order has been established in the base. With your abilities, you won’t be treated badly there. Would you consider joining us?”

“You’re here to find supplies?” Looking at them empty-handed, Xie YunChuan was skeptical.

“To be honest, my sister is a space-type ability user. The supplies we’ve found before are all in her space.”

Seeing that Xie YunChuan, a wood-type ability user, wasn’t any stronger than her, and he was also carrying a defenseless Luo Shuyou, Gu Tangxi chose to confide in him about Gu Tangyue’s ability.

“A space-type ability user…!” That was a very practical ability, Xie YunChuan thought. How come he awakened three abilities and none of them were space-type!

If others knew his thoughts, they would probably be spitting blood in anger. Others struggled to get even one ability, but he was greedy, awakening three and still being dissatisfied, still complaining! It was true that comparing people could drive one to death.

“Yes! So if you agree to join our team, you won’t have to work so hard.” Gu Tangxi looked meaningfully at his big bag, knowing it couldn’t hold much even when stuffed full.

Seeing Xie YunChuan hesitate, Gu Tangxi continued, “Of course, we won’t force you if you’re unwilling. You can choose whatever you want here. We’ll take the rest after you’re done.”

Luo Shuyou finished his candy. Before he could open his mouth, Xie YunChuan quickly stuffed another one into his mouth. He had almost lunged at others many times but was inconspicuously pulled back by Xie YunChuan.
