PPS Chapter 55
by VolareChapter 55: Pouting
After finishing the IV drip with no major issues, Chu Zhaoyi went back to the studio. The preliminary round submissions were due next Monday, with no specific theme, just a preliminary round.
That evening, Gu Yusen picked him up after class, but Chu Zhaoyi remained silent the entire time, not saying a word. While he wasn’t as rebellious as he was in the morning, he was clearly giving him the cold shoulder.
Gu Yusen gritted his teeth, thinking that he couldn’t let this little thing control him so completely. He tried to hold back, but couldn’t help but sneak out a bouquet of red roses from the trunk of the car.
Chu Zhaoyi had a strange obsession with red roses. Gu Yusen always bought them for him one by one. It wasn’t that he was stingy, but mainly because… a large bouquet of red roses always implied something else.
But now, Gu Yusen couldn’t care less about that. It was the first time he had upset him this much, and one or two roses wouldn’t solve the problem.
Chu Zhaoyi sat on the bed, staring at the makeshift bed on the floor of the bedroom, his lips pursed with a slight downward turn.
This was the scene Gu Yusen saw when he opened the bedroom door.
Chu Zhaoyi heard the sound of the door opening and looked up, but quickly turned away, curling up on the bed with his back to Gu Yusen, not forgetting to cover his head with the blanket.
“Ayi,” Gu Yusen sighed.
He loved giving Chu Zhaoyi nicknames, calling him all sorts of strange and bizarre names, rarely using Chu Zhaoyi’s given name.
The figure on the bed stirred, and a pale, delicate arm reached out from under the blanket, directly tearing the hearing aid from his ear and throwing it onto the bed. The hearing aid bounced a few times, finally resting quietly in the center of the bed.
The slender figure curled up in a corner of the bed, looking particularly pitiful.
The action of refusing to communicate out of pique didn’t make Gu Yusen feel the slightest bit of displeasure.
Gu Yusen walked over, picked up the hearing aid with one hand, and pulled Chu Zhaoyi out from under the blanket.
The boy didn’t resist, perhaps because he had been stifled for a while. His usually pale cheeks were now faintly flushed, adding a touch of vitality to his face.
Gu Yusen squatted by the bed, reaching out to put the hearing aid on the boy’s ear.
Throughout the process, Chu Zhaoyi was unusually docile, as if the boy who had previously expressed resistance through silence was someone else entirely.
Gu Yusen couldn’t help but gently stroke Chu Zhaoyi’s cheek. Just as his fingertips touched his skin, before he could say anything, he felt a warm tear drop on the back of his hand.
He looked up in a daze, only to see that Chu Zhaoyi’s eyes were already red. Those eyes looked particularly fragile at this moment, like a delicate and beautiful porcelain doll, but full of cracks, ready to shatter at the slightest touch.
Chu Zhaoyi had a strong temper and was spoiled, but he rarely cried.
The tears on his hand were not warm, but Gu Yusen felt like he had been burned, an unprecedented heat and pain.
“Ayi,” Gu Yusen opened his mouth, but didn’t know what to say, only able to call Chu Zhaoyi’s name in a pale voice. His usually eloquent mouth was particularly clumsy at this moment.
The boy’s curly hair was drooping a little.
“Brother Sanmu was wrong. What I said last night was wrong. Forgive Brother Sanmu, okay? No more separate beds, no more independence. Brother Sanmu will take care of you for the rest of your life, okay? Don’t cry?” Gu Yusen wiped the tears from the boy’s cheeks, his tone particularly gentle, as if a slightly heavier tone would scare him away.
Chu Zhaoyi didn’t speak, but reached out a hand from behind him.
Gu Yusen understood and quickly placed the bouquet of roses in the boy’s hand.
Chu Zhaoyi shook his head and didn’t take it, but instead pulled out a single rose and placed it in his palm.
“I said, one rose is a sign of reconciliation.”
The boy had a big temper,
But he was easy to coax.
