Chapter 37: Chu Zhaoyi’s Little World is a Colorful Splendor

Professor Qin’s office was a private one, only he occupied it. Moreover, he had a painting studio on campus solely for his use and his students.

Given that Professor Qin’s students had all graduated, no one used this studio except for Professor Qin himself.

Chu Zhaoyi stood at the entrance of the studio, curiously craning his neck to peek inside. It was much cleaner than the public studios. A wall of storage cabinets held paints and brushes,

all things Professor Qin usually used himself.

Chu Zhaoyi sighed. If only he could paint here; it seemed less crowded and quiet.

His small studio at home was never quite enough.

Professor Qin had just walked out of his office door, still contemplating whether Chu Zhaoyi would come over after class. But remembering the child’s temperament, he feared he wouldn’t.

So he had to come out to take a look himself.

Coincidentally, he saw the young man clinging to the window, peering inside.

Professor Qin suddenly felt a bit smug.

“Ahem, Zhaoyi, there are quite a few advantages to acknowledging me as your teacher!”

Chu Zhaoyi slowly turned his gaze to this old child, his mind filled with Gu Yusen’s constant reminders of respecting teachers and their teachings.

Chu Zhaoyi’s eyes often lacked emotion, pitch black. When he quietly stared at someone, it would inexplicably create a sense of fear.

Professor Qin felt a chill down his back and stopped joking with him.

“This is my studio, for the use of me and my students. If you like, you can come over whenever you have time. You can use anything inside. If you run out of paints or brushes, just tell me and I’ll replenish them for you.”

“Don’t I have to pay?” Chu Zhaoyi blinked. Was that what he meant? If he didn’t have to pay, that would be a good deal!

Professor Qin nodded, remembering what Lao Gao had told him. He mused that the Chu family wasn’t exactly a family without money. See how cautious this child has become.

“You’re my student, so you don’t have to worry about these things. You can come to me with anything you can’t handle.” Professor Qin smiled, speaking confidently. If it weren’t for his status as an elder, he would definitely pat his chest a couple of times.

Chu Zhaoyi stared at Professor Qin without blinking.

Professor Qin inexplicably understood what Chu Zhaoyi meant, and his lips twitched. “No, no exemptions!”

Chu Zhaoyi turned his face away unhappily.

He said he could do anything for him, but not grant him exemptions?

Professor Qin held the same attitude as Gu Yusen on this matter. He had heard from Lao Gao about the Chu family parents’ approach, and he didn’t agree with it.

They couldn’t simply confine the child at home just because contact with the outside world might pose a threat to Chu Zhaoyi’s psychological problems.

He had been exempt from classes all through junior and senior high school and didn’t go to school much. But this child was promising, and his results in every formal exam were pretty good.

He should gradually be exposed to the outside world.

The best way to face fear is always to overcome it, not to retreat.

“Also, you must study hard. Some children don’t like listening to theoretical knowledge, but in reality, these are very helpful for you in the future. Understanding the experiences of painters throughout history can help you better understand the emotions contained in their paintings.”

“You are a very talented child. The spirituality in your paintings is strong, which is something many students lack. Painting is never just a rigid copy, but an expression, an expression of your emotions.”

    “I’ve seen your paintings.”

“Every one of your paintings is like a small world. I think the little world inside you must be very beautiful.”

Unlike his seemingly indifferent self, it was richer, a colorful splendor.

Chu Zhaoyi’s gaze had not been on Professor Qin, but as soon as Professor Qin finished speaking, he saw Chu Zhaoyi’s ears twitch.

    His earlobes were faintly red.
