    Chapter 32: Day Student Quota

Gu Yusen gritted his teeth from the impact but stubbornly kept silent.

He wondered what this kid was made of.

It hurt him quite a bit.

Chu Zhaoyi and the others were sitting further inside, and Li Yu was slow, so by the time the three of them came out, almost everyone in the classroom had already left.

Now, only the three of them and Xie Haoran remained.

Seeing this as a perfect opportunity, Xie Haoran didn’t even greet his own roommates before jogging over.

“Hello, I’m Xie Haoran from bed number three.”

Zhang Haoyu and Li Yu greeted Xie Haoran. Having the class monitor as your roommate in university was incredibly convenient!

    “Hello,” Zhang Haoyu greeted politely.

Li Yu, however, sized Xie Haoran up and down. Recognizing the value of the watch on his wrist, his expression changed, and his attitude did a complete 180-degree turn.

“Haoran, you’re amazing. You were noticed by Professor Li Ze as soon as you arrived and became our class monitor. We’ll have to rely on you in the future.” As he spoke, he tried to put his arm around Xie Haoran.

Xie Haoran subtly frowned, feeling the arm on his shoulder. He didn’t want to embarrass him in public, but a hint of smugness flashed across his face as he enjoyed Li Yu’s attitude.

Li Yu fawned over Xie Haoran for a long time. Zhang Haoyu came from an ordinary family and found this atmosphere a bit unbearable. Although he could tell that Xie Haoran’s watch was probably expensive, he couldn’t bring himself to act like Li Yu.

He even felt a bit uncomfortable.

After exchanging a few words with the two of them, Xie Haoran turned his head and noticed Gu Yusen and Chu Zhaoyi standing at the door.

At this moment, Chu Zhaoyi was standing next to Gu Yusen, one hand gripping Gu Yusen’s sleeve.

Gu Yusen patted the young man’s head. “Go and greet your roommates too.”

Chu Zhaoyi was reluctant and didn’t want to move.

On the other hand, Xie Haoran was stunned by the sight and quickly snapped back to his senses to greet them.

“Chu Zhaoyi, hello, my name is Xie Haoran.”

“Hello,” Chu Zhaoyi’s gaze slowly shifted to Xie Haoran.

Chu Zhaoyi’s first impression was actually quite poor, always giving off a sense of arrogance and rudeness, ignoring everyone as if no one deserved his attention. This was the source of Li Yu’s dislike for him.

But Xie Haoran was able to become the class monitor for a reason. He didn’t show any sign of noticing Chu Zhaoyi’s disdain and instead offered a polite smile.

    “And this gentleman is?”

He had actually noticed Gu Yusen at first glance. He had been at the school for two months and knew all the famous figures on campus, the most famous of whom was this Gu Yusen, the campus heartthrob.

Handsome, from a good family, and with a good personality, he had never looked down on anyone because of his family background. He received unanimous praise on campus.

Xie Haoran was clearly asking a question he already knew the answer to.

Gu Yusen was busy straightening Chu Zhaoyi’s collar, which had rolled up, and didn’t hear Xie Haoran’s words.

Chu Zhaoyi heard, but he didn’t like sharing his Brother Sanmu with anyone, so naturally, he wouldn’t speak.

The scene was silent for over ten seconds, making even someone as smooth as Xie Haoran feel a bit awkward.

“He’s! He’s Chu Zhaoyi’s brother, and he’s a sophomore at our school,” Zhang Haoyu quickly spoke up to ease the awkward atmosphere.

Gu Yusen also heard Zhang Haoyu’s words and knew they were talking about him.

“Sorry, I didn’t hear you just now. I’m Chu Zhaoyi’s brother. My name is Gu Yusen, from the Finance Department, sophomore year.”

“Gu Yusen?! From the Gu family of A City?!” Unexpectedly, the biggest reaction to the name came not from anyone else, but from Li Yu, who had been silent until now.

“Indeed. Do you know me?” Gu Yusen raised an eyebrow, his gaze falling on Li Yu, confirming that he didn’t remember him.

Someone who could clearly identify his family background must have had some business dealings with them.

“I had the honor of seeing you at a banquet, but you definitely wouldn’t have seen me. My family is just a small family in A City. It’s normal that you wouldn’t know.” Li Yu didn’t expect it to really be that Gu Yusen. He had only heard that the Gu family’s heir was also at this school, but he never thought he would actually see him in person.

Zhang Haoyu didn’t know much about these things and looked at Li Yu, who had suddenly changed his flattering target, feeling a bit confused.

This person had been acting like “I’m the best” and “I’m so rich, you’re all commoners” from the beginning.

    He was quite uncomfortable.

“My brother is a bit introverted. I’ll have to trouble everyone to take care of him.” Gu Yusen smiled faintly. He had seen Li Yu’s attitude many times and didn’t feel uncomfortable, nor did he have any extra emotions.

Li Yu thought about his attitude towards Chu Zhaoyi and felt a little apprehensive, secretly sizing up Chu Zhaoyi, afraid that he would complain to Gu Yusen. It was his fault for not recognizing that Chu Zhaoyi came from a wealthy family…

Had he offended Gu Yusen’s brother?

However, he had never heard of Gu Yusen having any younger brothers, even from collateral branches. How could a brother suddenly appear?

Thinking of this, Xie Haoran spoke up.

“Mr. Gu and Chu Zhaoyi are only a year apart in age? He’s not a biological brother, is he?”

Xie Haoran’s gaze rested steadily on Chu Zhaoyi’s face, not showing any timidity. Everyone in A City knew the Gu family, so even though he knew Gu Yusen’s identity, he remained neither arrogant nor humble.

This made Gu Yusen think highly of him. Usually, he wouldn’t bother explaining, but today he felt like explaining for some reason.

    “He’s not a biological brother.”

If everyone thought they were biological brothers, then Chu Jiaojiao’s thoughts about him would be completely ruined.

The thought flashed through Gu Yusen’s mind, and he glanced at Chu Jiaojiao, who was obediently looking at his toes, cursing himself as a beast.

He quickly discarded the strange thought.

“I see,” Xie Haoran replied, his gaze sweeping over Li Yu’s changed expression, a slight smile appearing at the corner of his mouth.

    Idiot.

    No blood relation.

Naturally, he had nothing to do with the Gu family. What was there to be afraid of?

Not only Xie Haoran, but Li Yu also thought of this after Gu Yusen said those words.

Even if he had a good relationship with Gu Yusen, so what? He just had to avoid provoking Chu Zhaoyi in the future. Moreover, the Gu family wouldn’t even look at them. It was better to have a good relationship with Xie Haoran…

Thinking of this, Li Yu moved closer to Xie Haoran again.

Giving off a “we’re good bros” vibe.

Zhang Haoyu was completely unaware of the undercurrents and said in a straightforward manner,

“Gu Ge, do you want to have dinner with us?”

The three of them had just discussed whether to have a meal together as roommates.

“I won’t disturb you. Ah Yi doesn’t live in the dorm, so I’ll take him back first. You guys go ahead and eat.” Gu Yusen held the young man’s shoulder. This person had no patience at all. After chatting for two minutes, he was already anxious to go home.

But he also knew that it was already impressive for Chu Zhaoyi to be in an unfamiliar environment for so long, so he was always worried and finally rushed over.

“Oh, okay,” Zhang Haoyu nodded, then realized something was wrong. “Wait, our school is notoriously strict about day student approvals. Is Xiao Chu a day student?”

“Yes, assigning him a dorm is just for convenience during lunch breaks. He’s a day student.” Gu Yusen didn’t explain further and left with the impatient young man.

    “We’ll go first then.”

After the two left, Li Yu looked at Zhang Haoyu with disdain.

    Bumpkin.

“For the Gu family, isn’t a day student quota a trivial matter? Why did you even ask?”

Zhang Haoyu smiled sheepishly, scratching his head. “I didn’t know.”

Xie Haoran watched the two figures, his hand hanging at his side clenching slightly.

He had been trying to get a day student quota and had asked many people for help, but he hadn’t been able to get it done. But Chu Zhaoyi had obtained it so easily.

And if he was a day student, he should just be a day student. Why did he have to occupy a dorm, pretending to be something…

“Let’s go, Haoran, let’s go eat.” Zhang Haoyu had already walked two steps when he noticed that Xie Haoran hadn’t followed. He turned his head and saw Xie Haoran’s somewhat distorted face. Thinking he had seen it wrong, he blinked and found that Xie Haoran still had a warm smile on his face, and sighed in relief.

    “Coming.”
